Perhaps that "jingling" was an indication that something was broken inside the walk-a-matic. You did get in a good workout! The gadget could look cute tucked in amongst some vintage knick knacks on a shelf. You could even cut out a small picture / photo and put it in the center and use it as a picture frame.

I remember those, my grandmother had 2 the older one had 3 places for, 1 for dollars and 2 for cents, the newer one could count to 99.99 It was very handy for grocery shopping

Something like that still exists for crochet/knitting. Every time you start a new row, you click, so you always know where in your pattern you are.

Awww cute gadget! This was be a nice addition to a vintage/retro collection. It reminds of an episode I saw on Leave To Beaver on ME TV during the pandemic, Beaver found his dad’s old pedometer which looked like a pocket watch. It was an adorable episode Ward/the dad claimed he walked liked 20 miles a day and Beaver bet with his friends he could too, poor Beaver walked and walked till dark then gave up. Thank you for sharing I really love your channel and I’m very interested in those vitamins too. 💖

My mom said my grandma would use an umbrella when she would have to be outside picking vegetables or whatever she was doing. US with fair skin don't do very well when the sun is on you in 90° weather with 90% humidity here in southern Missouri

It may not have worked as it should however it is a cool looking vintage piece it. It looks cool having it on your pants as almost a fashion piece so in my opinion at least it works in that aspect. Definitely would get some cool looks and comments at a vintage convention or even a classic car show. Either way thanks for showing us the cool vintage gadget!

I have one, it works good. For yours to work it has to be worn on the hip, above your leg at the belt line. Not under your belly. It has a pendulum inside that swings back and forth with your leg stride. The instructions were not clear on this point, although the picture on the box showed the Walk-A-Matic closer to the hip location.

@@GoodPersonTestWebsite Actually I have only been able to test it once, very briefly, so I'm not sure yet. My mom passed away and I live in another state. I *think* it works, but need to test again. Came home from the 2nd trip over to her place (already hard enough) and found my favorite cat, Muffin, who has been my best friend for around 15 years, had died alone. When I get to test it again (the emotional wind has been knocked out of me) and I'm feeling up to it, I'll come back at that time.

If you walked 1.25 miles with 2977 steps, your average stride is 26.60 inches. I had a pedometer much like your walk-a-matic back in the 60s and it didn’t work either. I took it apart to see how it worked, and lost some of the parts! Thanks for sharing your video.
