Fred Ragers TM i was always either flathead, or shifter carts, cuz that’s what we mostly had, we also had the animal classes but that was out of our family’s price range plus flatheads og
I guess im asking randomly but does any of you know of a way to log back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot my password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me!
If wind resistance is the problem they are officially just like lake racing Hotrodders, meaning now they need more power and some aerodynamic drag cutters...
I love your cavalier approach! And here comes the but, you need some safety gear, balanced wheels, aero dynamics, and two hands on the wheel. Mount that phone. Keep it up guys. Love your vids. 88mph!!!
hell yes! Congratulations, I knew you guys could do it. I still think with a few more tweaks you can hit 80 to possibly the elusive 88. Great video as always.
John i would definitely say you have came a long way. When I first started watching, you knew almost nothing about mechanical work. Now Ike has molded you into a fine mechanic. Keep up the good work you two.
i honestly think wind resistance is what is holding you guys from a steady 75mph+. i would be interested to see what that engine and gear setup on TAYLOR's lay-down kart would do. much slicker through the air. maybe a future episode?
You guys need to buy a Honda gx390 and do the following modifications to it -Billet Rod -Billet Flywheel -Longstroke Crankshaft -Remove governer and oil sensor -Shaved and skimmed head 100' -Billet or stainless steel push rods and valves -Mikuni flat side 34mm carb -Lightweight flattop piston -Aluminum Fuel pump -32 pound valve springs -High flow intake -Highflow header and muffler -6' advanced timing key -Port and polish -Racing spark plug -Stroker Billet camshaft -ARC Billet sidecover and bearings And to top the build off, a large dosage of 116 octane and Nos, with all these mods you will be making the best part of 65hp. Not a good idea to use a stock torque 'o' 'verter or clutch. Probably best to use a shifter kart trans designed to work with heavily modified 390's. (These engines can rev up to 8500rpm) Then put a tiny sprocket on there and hit 120mph, if I can do it you can to! (Just a heads up this cost me $3700 back in 2013)
Hey y'all down by Charlotte witch means it's flat so you don't need alot of tork add a really big sprocket to the engine then put a really small sprocket to the axel use the 670 and in a long enough strait away you could reach 175 because of the gear ratio
That is awesome, but may I suggest a phone holder so you can keep both hands on the wheel, you must have balls of steel to bring it up that high single handed. Great video!
Man, this series is so good. What an entertaining journey for that top speed. Seriously impressed with that cheap motor not blowing, even with the internal mods.
About time to invest in a motorcycle jacket and some padded jeans. If yall ever slide you would wish you did. 65 for a mesh one on ebay. Stays pretty cool. Keeps rocks and bugs off ya. also if you touch the muffler or engine it give you a couple seconds of protection.
Very cool guys. Though I have already done it ...back in the 70's. I raced in a Junior Class from '70 to '74. Engine was a McCullough chainsaw engine modified for aviation fuel. I would run around the block (sidewalks) testing sprocket ratios ...average speeds 65-70. I started at the ripe age of 7 years old.
cool video...but may i suggest some type of steering wheel mount for the phone??? wouldn't that be a little better that holding it in hand?? id hate to think if u hit a bump or something and the bad crash you all would have!!!!! keep the vids coming...fun watching you guys put stuff together
8:50 YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA YEAAAAA YEAAAAAAAA WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! This shit made me so happy, this was intense for me and I am in my office chair, what a great series of videos. Nothing is better than setting a goal and crushing it!
(Huey Lewis and the News playing lightly your addicted to love). "Next Marty, we got to go back" "back where doc?" "Back to the future by hitting 88mikes per hour" "You built a go cart doc? What are you nuts?" "it makes perfect sense Marty, anyone can do 88 mile per hour in a DeLorean but the way I figure it is, if we do it in a go cart they will come" "who doc?" "the viewers Marty" que the exit music Marty and post the Cars & Camera emblem. Good job guys.
I love this video, I watch it every couple months. You guys are such great friends, he goes 72mph and its like one of you just went to the moon and back! Reminds me of Ricky Bobby and Cal Naughton Jr when Ricky fitst drove a NASCAR!!
Now make a go kart like that one that's low and flat to where you have to lay down so you don't have body drag. Basically what I'm saying is make it as low and aerodynamic as possible
Ike's got that thing. It's a thing not many people have. But given the opportunity he would take any machine to it's limits. It's like a drug. Once you taste it your hooked. It's F#$&@ING NASTY SPEED!!!!
You should build a go kart that can do burn outs. It can have from brakes and slicks on the back the 212 might work but the 346 or 420 will work the best
I never really trusted the Predator engines all that much, being a foreign produced stolen Honda blueprint and all. This video does totally disprove my fears, and I'll be going out to buy a 346 soon. I suppose I'm a bit biased though since my favorite engines are the 5.6Hp Briggs engines from the late 90's and early 2000's. They put these engines on all kinds of lawncare equipment and power washers so you can pick them up for next to nothing (I once got a pair for 20$ at a yardsale), best part about them is how absurdly over-built they are.
Frank Tusa 670s are great in idea but when u actually get them together they don't run hard. The fuel pump runs off of vaccumm pulse the govner dosent let it go wide open to keep the fuel pump going meaning if u just remove the gov it will cut out at WOT for a 670 to work good lile a regular v twin it needs a electeic fuel pump and the gov. Removed
When John doesn't feel right about something u know that it's gonna be a big risk😂😂😂 but when Ike feels like it would be a huge risk then don't do it!!!
I'm wondering if you could plumb the oil catch back into the sump to keep the oil inside the engine instead of catching it then dumping it back in later
You guys should make some sort of sheet metal body to streamline it. Reduce the drag created by your body. Doesn't have to be much, just the right shape to cut the air in front of the kart and block your body brim the wind
Sprocket work is the most cost effective. You can also stick an old volkswagen smog pump on any little engine and it essentially becomes a supercharger.
Mark Jones try changing the main jet in the carb, putting a cone air filter on,put a good exhaust on and a hotter spark plug in and then try it out.u wil be pleasantly surprised!and it's probably the cheapest option.
Ecotrons offers an EFI kit for small engines, and there's even one that can be fitted with a turbo. They're very expensive, but the performance gains are worth every cent and people love them.
Ike you scared the hell out of me after I saw that you were driving and holding the phone in the other. Maybe have a holder for the phone to you can lean down and hold the steering with both hands. Like you always say. Safety 1st...hehe great job guys
I love watching yall building them little engines, very interesting. Also love your collections of cars. I live in Martinsville VA. Would love to meet up one day and shoot the shit and talk about up coming projects. Love the show keep up the good work 👏.
To put it in perspective,we were running C open Enduro Karts in the late 1970s that were hitting 160 MPH at Daytona. They were Margay Enduro Karts with twin Komet B-Bomb 135 cc engines. We ran faster than all the bikes at the time, including Yamaha factory OW31 TZ-750 4 cylinder 2 strokes.
You guys should try the enduro kart that you picked up with the others. The driver would be more in a laid down position so that might mean less wind resistance.
*CarsandCameras* I know how it feels exactly! I have a Motorhispania RX50 full size crotch rocket with 6 gears and a 50cc liquid cooled engine. Every time I worked on it and upgraded I would go for a top speed run: 65, 66, 67....72!!!!!! The day I did I was on my way to work with the wind at my back, and downhill; and it was an epic feeling. Glad I had on my Sportstrakker app to confirm it, looked at it like 20 times. I used to have a CBR 900 RR, and I'll be damned if that 50cc 2 smoker isn't a hell of a lot more fun.
go smaller on the rear sprocket now and go for the 90s or maybe 100mph or at least try for the 88mph! You got bigger balls than I got doing high 60s that long with one hand on the wheel! You're da man!!
Amazing work gentlemen! If you rigged some fenders or a front scoop to cut down the drag, I'm thinking mid 80s. Drag Is tricky to calculate, but not impossible.
72 mph! You guys are savages! I would of been scared sh@#less doing 72 on that thing! But living vicariously thru you guys keeps me from injuring myself or others...lol
