Keeping things in your off hand increases your hunger rate, so it should probably be empty when you don't need to carry light or whatever. You should be able to use apples and pears in your stews like berries.

This couldn't be a more prefect animal husbandry beginning, especially with the altitude of your dwellings in mind. You can trap adult chicken and piglets/lambs/kids and all other young version of our four-legged domesticables with the reed trap and transport them this way. The spikes do damage, but one has to step onto the spiked block to receive it, so as long as the drifter stays on the block, which they will - trying to get to you, walking forwards into the wall, not backing off - they will not receive extra damage. I had the same idea, but some short and preliminary tests did leave me with the impression that spikes are unfortunately not the best tool for a stationary drifter trap. The hunger rate is based on multiple factors. Armour plays a role, but also the nutritional value of meals, a very hearty meal will reduce the hunger rate and fill you for longer, before the satiation bar starts depleting. The freshness of the meal ingredients will carry over onto the final meal. Fresh ingredients = meal will keep longer, spoiled ingredients = lower best-before date. Also: RIP saw 0:42.

Your flax is still on low fertility soil. Flax is I think one of the most nutrient intensive crops in the game requiring K Flax production is one of the gated mechanics in the game and you will need a lot. Bonemeal is I think a P fertilizer. Whatever it is, it isn't K and won't make flax grow. Saltpeter is K Just use med fertility soil it way more effective. Low fertiltiy doesn't have enough K to grow flax with any speed.

So me confused I have watched drifters stand on spikes and keep getting damaged so i guess my info was a glitch? It was more then once and in different places maybe its the other spikes so confused. Thanks for your great video.

apparently the drifter has to move back and forth in and out of the block the spikes sit in, maybe I can move them around with streams of water?

Lol the males are always ready to mate. It's only the females that have the info box that says that. The spikes work but they don't do much damage. It takes a lot of them. I run around with a bunch (6-7) of copper spears during the storms. I use a Large flat clear space and try to light it up a bit. Must have no water and veruy little altitude change. Then just spear and run. Focus on the high tier drifters, especailly the double headed ones. Guaranteed temporal gear. You can get 3+ gears per storm this way. It is really the most effective way to farm drifters except maybe the boiling pits made from geothermal pools. But those can be tricky to set up and you first need a large enough geothermal pool which are rare. Try the spear and run method. Even a dozen flint spears FULL durability will work. There is a mod called auto loot. All it does, is when you are harvesting it automatically transfers the loot to your inventory when the loot popup appears and then closes the popup. Keep some inventory spaces open. Do not stop moving Drifters seem to randomly spawn in waves of about 3-4. Aslo you don't need to make the hay bales you cna just use the dry grass as it is. But he bales look nice. Most animals eat grain or dry grass. Chickens only eat grain.
