Hi Michael, Amazing records, as always. It is so nice to listen to your informative talks about the albums. You are one of my favourite channels! Thanks again, Anders
I ordered the Mary Halvorson after watching Dereck Higgins talk about it this morning...after watching your show my anticipation of its arrival is further heightened...i think that i have all your albums currently available on CD...looking forward to you releasing some new work...cheers
Italian Prog Fusion music, interesting especially since Collins joins them. I also am a sucker for a cool conga. So much stuff I have never heard of like Kraan though I may like funky prog
That Phil Collins was a busy bee around that time (1976): he was touring for the first time in his new role as singer for Genesis, putting out the first Brand X album as well as two Genesis albums, and guesting on a whole bunch of other projects like the Nova one. Thanks for watching!
Hey Michael! I enjoyed the rant that started the video. Down with the leaf blowers! Wow, so much great music showed. I literally just finished my first playthrough of Mary Halvorson’s Cloudward. My copy just arrived a couple days ago. Brilliant stuff. Side two especially. Patricia Brennan’s vibes are just so fantastic. I was not familiar with Nova but you sold me. Zakir Hussain on congas?. I actually went to a drum clinic around 1990 with Zakir Hussain, Airto , and Giovanni Hidalgo. I wish I were aware back then what monumental musicians those guys are. I was still in awe just not knowledgeable. I’ve never seen that Klaus Schulze record either. You had me at timpani. I’ll check it out even knowing side 1 isn’t great. I need Soil Festivities too. It’s one that I’ve been looking for but I never see it. And I’ve never owned Masques either. One of my local shops has had a copy for years sitting there. I’m going to have to grab it next chance I’m in there. Wonderful showing! Take care.
That's a great set of pickups. Halvorson did it again with Cloudward. Really like her sound. Kraan dropped a new one in January, which is enjoyable. They jumped on the AI cover art trend, though specified no AI used to make the music. Hope Bandcamp Friday was good to you. I spotted some plugs in a few places.... Take care, Richard
Hi Michael, never got the whole concept of leaf blowers - moving leaves from one place to another - something I've never seen in use on this side of the pond. Those first two albums sound intriguing - will definitely have to check them out. Interface is as you said not one of Klaus's strongest albums, but to my mind he never did an album that wasn't worth listening to. Enter K is one I need to get into the collection - have the live album by the K Group which is excellent. Love Soil Festivities - that cover could definitely adorn one of your own albums! Masques is I think the only early Brand X album I'm missing - often see their other albums knocking around but that one not so much. Have the first Nova album on vinyl (which has Morris Pert on percussion) - need to keep an eye out for the 2nd. Good luck with Bandcamp Friday. Just purchased / downloaded the individual tracks on there (though there are two which don't have a purchase/download button). Will give them a proper listen once I've burnt them onto CD - much prefer listening on CD to on the computer. All the best... Pete
Ah, you did the deep dive into the random tracks! I was never sure if I should even leave that stuff up on Bandcamp after I started having proper albums to sell. I was just now watching another leaf blower team from my window...one guy with the blower, and a second guy with a rake and a bag to clean up the leaves once they've been blown into the street. What's the point? Why not just rake them up in the first place? This seems like a good topic to mark my transition from a music channel to an "old man yells at clouds" channel. Thanks much, Pete!
Hey Michael, Great catching up with you! Totally with you on leaf blowers. You're really showing some favorites here...Klaus, Chick, Vangelis, (one of my favorites of his!) Brand X, TD (that was my first ever album on CD). What is your favorite by them? Mine would still be Zeit. Good to see you again. -Carm
