Giger is a very underrated drummer. After Dzyan, he and Marron formed a trio with Gunter Lenz. More jazz and acoustic, but the same level of musicianship.
Hi Michael. I would really like to like Sleepytime Gorilla, but I'm afraid I can't get beyond the vocals - shame. Envious of the Zao - have never seen one in the wild - the only one I have on vinyl is the first as a reissue - don't know why they didn't do more. Remember buying a CD by Derek Bailey and Japanese band Ruins - I'm afraid I don't think I manged 5 minutes 😂! The Peter Giger sounds hood. Saw The Residents on the Mole tour here in the UK - they were really good. All the best.. Pete
Hi Pete! I suggest listening to more samples of the SGM. The Cookie Monster vocals are only prominent on a couple of tracks, mainly "The Gift" which really does go overboard with it. Carla Kihlstedt does a lot of the singing. The Zao has been on my want list for years. I'd really love to find an OG of the one you just showed, but that one is like hen's teeth. I can imagine the combination of Derek Bailey and Ruins is doubly forbidding. Thanks for watching!
Still need that zao..i like them more than magma personally.. Love all peter Geiger in general..i have all the family of percussion lp's..sunday palaver is one i think you would dig as the percussionist are augmented by wolfgang dauner and alan skidmore.. Though all are highly recommended..lol..much love chris
