Hi Mike. I am an integrative psychiatrist with a masters degree in herbal medicine, trained in both mindfulness-based psychotherapies and functional medicine principles. Love your podcasts. I know you know you need to slow down when your speaking (happens to me too sometimes :) After working out and your sympathetic & dopaminergic systems are pumping consider playing with breathwork to bring the adrenalin down a notch. For very active people like yourself often 3 rounds of wim hof style breathing will naturally stimulate your neurons to releases some balancing endogenous cannaboids & opioids. It will help give your presentation more grounding energy and help bring the pace down a notch. It will help make what you are teaching easier to understand and make you an even better teacher and help more people get healthier.
I completely agree with you Michael. I am also a Zen/Taoist meditation teacher, and practice the Wim Hof method everyday. This will help you to slow down Mike, which will assist all of us in appreciating and absorbing your wonderful podcasts even more deeply.

Since starting night shift a few years ago, I've been taking 10k units of vit D daily. Thanks to channels such as these, I've been taking NAC since June of 2021. My vaccinated hubby brought home the omnicron. It put him out for two weeks. I am unvax'd, caught the omnicron but was only down for 4 days. I'd like to note I am also active, have an active job, and practice intermittent fasting.
I take VITAMINS including vitamin D 3 4000,havn't been I'll since 2019 after the flu vaccine,I havn't had covid 💉💉💉or any flu 💉💉💉I feel great WITHOUT all 💉💉💉.
@@TheMJT515 Have you tried taking it with a meal? Although all of the NAC I know of is derived from feathers or hair (hence the smell of it), there may be differences between brands. I have never had a stomach upset from taking a single capsule of NAC daily (600mg). But, I don't have acid reflux since I eliminated junk food from my diet (gluten, packaged food, sugar, and seed oils).
@@threestans9096 It certainly could be a problem. The only way to know one's vit D status is to have a blood test done. This would be a very prudent thing to do for someone who supplements year round due to working a night shift. Personally, I only take oral vit. D3 in the Winter, and ordinarily 6,000 IU's. I also take K2mk7 to ensure that calcium deposition is properly regulated. When the weather permits, I get my vitamin D through sun exposure.
I had to leave this note. I have been watching your videos and using the advice given from the various studies you refer to for about a year. I just had Omnicron 2 days ago. I do not have the Covid shot. I've been eating clean and healthy foods on top of the exercise advice you mention. Weightlifting, HIITs, jogging, cold therapy etc... My immune system was so strong Covid only last 48 hours. I appreciate what you are doing. Thank you!!!! Do not stop sharing this information.
Same, just under 2 days and my only symptom was a mild fever. It felt a bit odd as I've never had a cold/flu with the only symptom being a fever, usually another symptom or 2 is tacked on to that. But anyways, before the pandemic I've had colds/flus that were far worse in the past

@@lisaleed7615 Hi Lisa! I'm not fond of supplements in general, so I only take Vitamin D3 + K2. I don't take anything when I'm sick, preferring to fast or just eat a little meat. I follow a mostly carnivore diet, so I don't consume sugar or wheat, the two main things that cause insulin resistance and inflammation. Best of health to you! 🥩
So depressing that we have to fear the censorship of basic health information that could be extremely helpful for people at risk these days. Thank you for what you do for us.
I am just amazed how many new things we learn about the human body as time progresses. Mike you have been an instrumental part of me taking my health back over the last 3 years. God Bless you and your family, thank you for your passion for health and all your hard work sir!
When I had Alpha, I took glutathione. I've always struggled with low D because of being black. When I got my bloodwork done that spring my D went up from 23 to 88. I have been taking it the two years hence!
I never knew that some vitamins should be taken before bed. Do you have more info about this on your website. Thanks for sharing all the info, love your channel!
The most current new research on NAC and Glycine or GlyNac is incredibly impressive. Those two taken together balance and equal alot of good things for those sick with many different issues. My Neurologist is a Professor of Neuroscience at Harvard and was very impressed with the combo research.
I find NAC to be awesome for anxiety too. Another great sup for that is Berberine. These two in addition to leaving me ridiculously healthy have also enabled me to take on the stress of living in a part of the world where hysteria rules. It's much easier to strategically plan when you have full access to your faculties. The rest of the stack is Zinc, D3, C, bioflavonoids, Quercetin.
i tried NAC but i had some side effect which is weird like ,nerve pain and nervousness , restless and depressed , i dont know why . i have these symptoms but its flared up when i took nac , not sure what cause it .
I just started taking Berberine on the advice of my Dr. to try and get my A1C down. I’m curious to see if it’s any better the next time I have my blood test. I’m hoping it works.
Another cause of low glutathione could be genetic. I've been keto for 7 years, not overweight, no alcohol, no tobacco, work outside, get 8 hours quality sleep. Covid nearly killed me. Turns out I have a MTHFR gene mutation that, among other things, can cause low glutathione.
It could be the keto diet that nearly killed you, but you do you :-) whole foods plant based diet (without any processed foods) is naturally full of antioxidants and benefical things to fight off viruses and infections.
Sorry to hear you had to go through that. Best of health to you! I also have the MTHFR thing going on (it's more common than people realise) so was already on glutathione. The more I discover what it does, the more I'm blown away. Especially interested in the interactions with other important supplements mentioned in this video and more (blown away by latest research re melatonin in relation to this too, as outlined in a recent Dr Eric Berg video. (He's awesome too.) So grateful for all these dudes.
Great video, still missing study links. There could have been a discussion on two points to help the bigger picture. 1). NAC was made public enemy by the FDA a little while back (reclassified it as a drug, when it’s been a supplement for decades, conveniently around the pandemic starting, so getting it is a bit difficult. 2). There’s more interrelated items than just vitamin D and GSH, like magnesium, etc. There also is a discussion to be had about recycling GSSG back into GSH, how that is vitamin rate limited. Such a good topic, hard to cover.
Agreed, there is more to cover here; particularly the recycling. NAC is still available as a bulk powder or in capsule form through brick and mortar stores and through online vitamin shops such as vitacost, which is now owned by Kroger. NAC was first classified as a drug, many years ago. Later it came to be regarded as a supplement. The decision by the FDA to press the matter with Amazon is unprecedented. They have never done this before with a substance that was once regarded as a drug, but has not been for decades. But, NAC is unavailable as a supplement in several countries, so the FDA seized the opportunity to make a mountain out of an ant hill. Unfortunately, the Amazon debacle was so high profile that it created a hoarding atmosphere and shortages throughout the rest of the supply chain. Costs have risen and availability is spotty even now. I have taken NAC for several years as part of the Buhner Protocol for chronic Lyme disease. It is critical for maintaining glutathione levels while the body is dealing with chronic inflammation from any cause.
@@rivergrrrl1256 I do take a Quercitin/Bromelain capsule. I started taking this for seasonal allergies years ago, and it does help to quell the histamine response. I currently take it for it's benefit as an ionophore with zinc. Unfortunately, It needs to be taken concurrent with zinc, and zinc is best taken with a meal in order to avoid nausea. When taken with a meal, Bromelain acts as a digestive enzyme. I should probably switch to using EGCG as an ionophore, and take the Quercitin/Bromelain on an empty stomach.
Honestly, my sister and I both have had it or have C this last week or so. I only had fever for about 36 hours and she had fever for 4 days. I am more overweight than she is and I have asthma. She is healthier than I am. The protocol and supplements must be wonder drugs....because I don't think I was as sick as she is. She is about 4 days in and I am on day 8 but I am so thankful for all your wonderful information.
1 anecdote: me and my wife are in our early-mid 40's, very similar BMI and health. She took no supplements or actions to help her immune system. I took NAC daily, ate cod liver very often, and lost 20lbs. She got very sick and is dealing with the symptoms of long-covid. I’m so mad at myself for getting vaccine. Like you was very health conscious and healthy…working out in gym at least 5 days a week and diet of no wheat no gluten, no dairy, no sugar, nothing processed/packaged. Super healthy for 20 years. Doctor friend convinced me to get vac and I’ve had one debilitating health issue after the next and been to them to the ER twice. First turned out to be Costochondritis …. followed by shortness of breath for a long time and still have it but not as bad due to breathing exercises. Then, balance problem…still working on that …to balance on one foot. Then hiatal hernia, acid reflux, can’t sleep, can’t wake up, can’t think, cant plan and organize (can’t work) Now fatigue and pain in joints and muscles. So bad I had to get pharmaceutical pain meds which hardly helped the pain. My whole being is not working. Grateful for this video but it was wayyyyto fast for me. Thanks to suggestions Will try to slow it down. But basically will definitely continue wit NAC. I used to take it until I read about histamine reaction. Thank you all for your informative comments!!!
First of all, thanks a million for all the amazing free content. On a diff note, I took NAC for a 3 years (periodically) - outstanding results; however, it quite often result in increased alertness so I wouldn't recommend taking it at night as I can making much harder.for one to fall asleep. Other people I know report the same effect. Please correct me if I'm wrong 🙂
Great stuff Mike. I'm finally getting back on track and did 7 days of strict carnivore 2 weeks ago, followed by keto. Last time I was doing keto was 2017 but I'm finding it great again - especially following the restrictive carnivore for 7 days. Fasting up to 22-23 hrs daily right now & finding it quite easy. I did feel fatigued & 'grumpy' during the carnivore week at times but my new found motivation has gotten me back into training again. Energy is up. Mental clarity is up & mood is up. Sleep much improved. 2 years of being off the wagon but I'm back 😎💪 PS: Still a pure blood, never tested, never masked & not one sniffle since Dec 2019. Greetings from the UK as the R*gime collapses 💪
1. Decreasing the daily dose of berberine can help slow you down a lot. 2. As I take meds in order to sleep soundly, I can only take NAC in the A.M. If I take it in the afternoon, or especially before bed, my liver detoxifies the meds so fast that I never get more than 3-4 hours of sleep. I must admit that when I took NAC 3 times a day and got so little sleep, I still felt great the next day, no tiredness even after a few weeks of this regimen. I reduced the NAC to once in the morning only because I know how important sufficient sleep is. Just saying, careful what you recommend. Every body is different… And glutathione is one heck of a detoxifier! Although I do appreciate the info. Thank you. …I just went back to taking NAC 3x a day and am sleeping just fine. Now I think the waking early was a detox reaction, one that I’ve had before especially with heavy metal detoxifiers (e.g., MSM) where I was awake for three days straight but feeling fine and energetic. That seems to be my response rather than the detox ‘flu’. Didn’t realize it was a diuretic but it doesn’t affect me that way even at 74yo.
I just started on NAC, I have been taking it at night, and now get up 3 times a night to use the restroom. Must be working, think I’ll switch to taking it in the am…
I LIKE the fast pace...it keeps me in the moment...and I'd rather pause and back up than be waiting and having my thoughts wander. This was GREAT info, thanks.
Great video, I would rather take vitamins that take any jabs! Just got back from Safeway, some mother was trying to force her very young son into get the jab, he was screaming for over 15 minutes throughout the whole store. An older lady went up to her and told maybe you should try on another day, that she was causing a scene. I went up to the three-ladies giving out shots in the front of the store and told them I thought it was a terrible idea to be giving out shots to young kids like that. What are people thinking? Nobody knows the long-term effects!
If at this point you don’t understand how vaccines work please talk to your doctor. They would LOVE to walk you through it. You might want to look into how the body works and metabolizes as well. Life’s too short to stay ignorant.

Been doing all the things to stay well. 2 years without even a sniffle. Then I lost my dad to cvd even after vaxed. I believe the emotional stress caused me to get this omicron. Thankful it's mild since we've been supplementing and exercising regularly. Interestingly, my older husband (he's 65/heart attack 2 yrs ago/prediabetic) has only had a mild cough. Me(47 years old/no known health issues) got a low grade fever for 1 night, some nausea, a cough & altered taste. We have a functional medicine doctor that checks our vitamin levels so we take what is needed according to blood work. He recommended us to take the human prescription ivermectin just to make sure it doesn't get worse. I think he's the only one prescribing it in our area.
Just had covid, my husband, 8 month old, and I, and all symptoms start to finish lasted just under 2 days, and my husband just 1 day. We are not vaccinated. The only symptom for all of us was a fever. It felt a bit odd as I've never had a cold/flu with the only symptom being a fever, usually, another symptom or 2 is tacked on to that. But anyway, before the pandemic, I've had colds/flu that were far far worse in the past even though I've always been a healthy individual.
Thanks for all this great content Mike. You recommend taking antioxidants and vitamins at night. Would this be before bedtime or with dinner? I typically have my last meal around 6 pm and go to bed around 10 pm. I try not to take much stuff prior to bedtime to avoid breaking my fasting. Any thoughts on this? I can definitely take my antioxidants with dinner but not sure what you would recommend. Thank you!!
D3 is the only supplement I use. Although I live in Sydney Australia where it's sunshine most days, I feel better supplementing. Everything else I get from a strict ketovore protocol. Although I still need to get used to eating liver 😃😜😝❤️
K2 is important when taking D3.It ups to transport he calcium to the bones and teeth and not into your arteries. For every 5,00IU's of D3 you should take 100 mcg of K2. That's the ratio I have heard from a few docs.
Regarding Liver, if you don't like the taste, you might consider desiccated liver capsules. I take them and notice the difference. Cheers from Melbs :)
I wouldn’t recommend people load on methionine to increase glutathione. First, while it is an essential amino acid, excess methionine can cause serious problems and is linked with several hallmarks of aging. The body uses most of methionine to create SAMe. Up to half of SAMe is used to produce 2-3g of endogenous creatine. By supplementing with creatine, you can free more of SAMe which is used for other bodily processes with regards to methylation. This actually decreases the need for methionine, and this is why supplementing creatine can help bring down high levels of homocysteine. As you said, cruciferous vegetables have compounds which can conjugate to form glutathione as well as increase phase 2 detoxification enzymes. So hitting enough methionine is really easy, especially if you use creatine/choline which enhance methylation and decrease the requirement of methionine. When I plug my diet into cronometer I always hit my methionine RDA (maybe 80-70% sometimes) and I’m plant based.
If you're on a PPI, _get off it. Right now._ I don't say that as a doctor, which I'm not, but as a fellow sufferer. I took PPIs. My GI may be permanently ruined. Yours doesn't have to be. Consider digestive stimulant foods such as ginger. Again, _suggestion._

Cataract development ? Great Mike . It seems critically important as an anti oxidant and protective molecule per se in the eye and especially the lens and low levels may be implicated in age onset cataracts in fact it might be the driving force behind age related eye diseases partic cataracts ie the sulphur bonds and cleaved form alpha and beta crystalline and then bond to the wrong sites of the proteins causing cross linking which then by entropy carries on unchecked . Also, other similar protein aggregated diseases I have now both this and dupytrens because of the two arm breaks. We have a large list alzheimers , crosslinking anywhere and everywhere in the body . The link between taurine and Glutathione , i need to read the research, this sounds an exciting missing link. The Question IS what is the best nutrient path way to increase Glutathione levels .?

Hey Mike thank you so much for that great content! I have a problem of a mycosis to toenail and my doctor tells me I have to take a pill anti fungi for 6 mounths... I can't wrap my head around the idea... Any thing you would recommend?
@@elokubano And, get your blood sugar down into the normal range. Fungus goes to town in an acidified body, one with high blood sugar. What is your a1c? If this condition is chronic, then you may be an undiagnosed T2 diabetic, or pre-diabetic.
Think about dbl pronged approach in dealing with your fungal issue. Deal with it internally and externally. Clean eating, exercise and checking your Vit D levels. Contemplate taking an oregano pill and a tad bit of coconut oil (1/4tsp) by mouth daily. Tea tree oil is great topically, so is Neem oil. Maybe look up antifungal essential oils and rotate them topically. Best of luck.
Hey Mike I'm started a 5 day fast today but am concerned because the last time I did this my cortisol levels went through the roof because of poor sleep from not eating. Besides taking in minerals, what else can I use to offset this? Not currently on a keto diet so my body is used to carbs but im hoping this fast will jumpstart my transition back to keto.
You’d be better to cut the carbs out and eat a keto/carnivore diet for a few weeks prior to doing a fast of that length…. Your body will be fat adapted by that time and be more readily able to use your own lipids as fuel. The carb crash could cause quite a bit of discomfort to say the least. Good luck!
@@brendanbedini5595 that would definitely be ideal, but I have really bad sweet cravings right now that are sabatoging my diet, so I just want to hit the reset button and rip off the bandaid so to speak.
Michael, By the end of day three of a water fast, your body will be in deep ketosis. The benefits of days 4-5 will be ancilliary to your stated goal of transitioning to a ketogenic diet. Longer fasts introduce risks around refeeding. If you do not refeed slowly and with deliberation, you can become impacted (constipated) which is definitely something to be avoided. If you crave sugar, then it would be prudent to get your a1c tested. You are either addicted to carbohydrates, or on your way to becoming a T2 diabetic. As others have suggested, far better to adopt a LCHF diet for three days, then to fast for 48 hours max. Then resume the LCHF diet. Refeeding with a 48 hour fast is a non-issue. Longer than 2 days, and you really need to exercise caution in refeeding. The sugar cravings should evaporate within 5 days of entering ketosis. Virtually everyone is in deep ketosis in day 3 of a fast. If you prepare with LCHF before starting your fast, then you will get into deep ketosis faster, because you have presumably started your fast in mild ketosis. Of course, some people take much longer to keto adapt, hence the recommendation of two weeks of LCHF before the fast. I think that such a slow rate of adaptation is rare, though. Empty your cupboards and kitchen of all foods that do not comport with the keto diet. Give up alcohol entirely during the adaptation phase. Alcohol is sugar. I have fasted up to 12 days at a stretch. This was informative. But, I do not practice or advocate long term fasting for others, except in the most desperate of situations. Nearly all of the benefits of a long term fast can be achieved with periodic 2 day fasts over the course of the year. And, this avoids the pitfalls and risks of a longer fast. For cramping muscles on keto, you are going to want some sea salt or mined ancient salt, such as Redmond Sea Salt, and magnesium on hand. I like magnesium oil for topical application, and epsom salts for bathing. Magnesium will help you sleep. You may want a laxative tea such as "smooth move" on hand in case you experience constipation during the dietary transition, and definitely during the fast. I like fresh lemons, cayenne, and filtered water during a fast.
@@mdel310 Why 5 days? You can realize many benefits on a shorter fast. I don't really understand why so many people think longer is better. It's not a competition, and if you can't last the entire time you feel like you have failed in some way. Be kind to yourself and listen to your body.

My doctor told me about a supplement for back pain that contains organic sulfur - MSM - methylsulfonylmethane. It is available online as flakes that dissolve in water and it is very effective for joint pain. It is a very easy way to increase sulfur in the body

The FDA pulled NAC a few months ago (categorized it as medicine) - correct me if I’m wrong. Glutathione is still available. Don’t want to sound weird but one astounding result of glutathione in me was increased ejaculate volume.
Hey Mike. Do you know where I can find the closest thing to natural Vitamin d3 supplements? I was reading the ingredient label this morning and was shocked to see the pills I have been taking are made of glycerin, soy bean, and corn oil.
My Mom, who is 66, was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I feel like my world is crashing down on me. What can we do to help her fight this? I've been crying half the day.
This channel is more keto bias, and I'm no scientist, but if I had cancer or my mom did I would go with a whole food plant based diet. Dr. Colin Campbell links heavy animal protien to cancer but stresses that food should be whole (he even wrote a book and titled it "Whole" -all around the idea that eating food in it's whole form is most healthy.) You could check out Dr. Li, he has some interviews/lectures here on youtube; he talks a lot about foods that help your body fight cancer/foods that decrease cancer risk. His mom had endometrial cancer and in addition to immuno therapy he had her eat pomegranate and cranberry (because of a study that people with Akkermansia bacteria in their gut respond well to immuno therapy for their cancer. And pomegranate and cranberry make Akkermansia populations in the gut grow). Here's one interview with him: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UUSWWI2qVt4.html I remember a guy Chrisbeatcancer here on youtube; he got over his cancer a long time ago but still does a lot of videos on health and cancer. I believe he also ate similarly. Also, something I'm learning is you can't focus on just diet, it's incredible important, but lifestyle too; that's why I like this channel: Early sleep, that's enough and restful No stress, difficult right now, but spend time with loved ones, chat and hug, and laugh. Watch pleasant things, listen to pleasant things, think of pleasant things. Getting outside (early morning sunshine before 9:30 and low light/no screens at night to help estabilish a healthy circadian rhythm if you don't have one) Time restricted feeding, eating enough in the day but not eating late. Be active according to your ability. Plenty of walking is great. I hope you find information that empowers you and your mom to tackles this challenge and come out healthy and whole on the other side. People have done it, it is possible. Learn and study, and be deligent in your habits, and be supportive and postive as much as you can. I hope the best for you and your mom.
This video spotlights a guy who shrank 13 tumors of 2 years with the Gerson therapy; besides the guy's story, check out the comment sectiona lot of testimonials of people who used diet and mental and emotional health, healthy living to overcome their cancer. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G-r9pII38M0.html
Dr Boz channel has some videos about the biochemistry of cancer and how it's a metabolic disease. "Dr Boz Ketones & Cancer - Top Tips", also "Low Carb Down Under cancer", Thomas Seyfried cancer as a metabolic disease.
