In this video I install the Vitavon 1.5 mod Gears for the Traxxas X Maxx! Amazon Affiliate Links - Vitavon 1.5 mod Gears for Traxxas X-Maxx 20t Pinion and 35t Spur Gear - www.amazon.com/dp/B0BC8GXBNK/...
You did the right choice!, i’ve seen belt drive videos bro and i just never trusted those set uo because of the problem you went through with that. But now, from your motor to the new 1.5 mod gear you have and new rear lower bulkhead, pretty that whole rear module is solid. Just dont strip the spur cover and that stuff will last longer
Man I know m2c is bit more expensive but center shaft and some other parts are the go to for the xmaxx from m2c.but hey is what u think works better and the wallet can aff👍🤔.keep doing good stuff man,God bless u.and yours Nolan🙏👍🤝
@@RCKnockout I installed the m2c for mine and is a forgot about that problem but the 1100kv keep eating my diff either center or rear I will go whit a 1250kv to see if that works because is like what happen to u and belt drive sistem it wasn't to me and I was so mad every time u upload a vid about it.hope now u have fun.keep up man
Good decision with the gears.. I ve been having similar issues with my Traxxas radio gear.. super frustrating having range issues. Hope u get it figured out.
@@RCKnockout don't u love how the reciever just decided it's done for no good reason. I have a small collection of expired Traxxas recievers.its even worse cuzz they're all the tqi 5 channels. Pretty iritating
@@RCKnockout some of my recievers have gotten a broke antenna and several others just stopped working or started some other issue that made them unusable. If u still have some reception with the old one, I like to put those ones in my crawlers cuzz I don't drive with them far away.. tx
You know that little piece that holds the bearing on the end of the vitavon shaft? Did you have any problems with it touching the motor mount? I recently seen a video where someone had to notch the motor mount with a dremel to get the rectangled piece with a bearing in it to clear the motor mount. Thanks nice video
Do you strip diff gears a lot when using 1.5? It seems like if you were to remove that cush drive system, it puts more pressure on the diffs. That is why I am afraid to do 1.5 gears.
In your video you said the bearing wouldn't fit on the center drive shaft. Is was just letting you know I think that 3d printed block it intended for the drive shaft to be split and the bearings are for a double sided spline to connect the two pieces and allow it to flex in hard impacts. At least that's the instructions I received. Though yours may be diffrent but splitting the drive shaft works well. Great video brother.
have you had any problems with the tiny bearing in that insert by the spur gear? i blew that tinny bearing in 1 set of batts and cant find the spares lol just trying to figure out my next move
Yeah they’ve fallen apart on me after each bash…I don’t even run the bearing anymore…my conclusion is there is to much shock and load on too small of a bearing…it’ll just keep on falling apart…an Abec5 or Ceramic bearing might work better
@RCKnockout ya I was thinking that too. Do you get much back and forth in your spur? I find my spur is moving in and out about 3/16 of an inch. And thanks for the help man
Problem is the little piece you insert has a really small bearing inside, it always breaks within 2 runs. GPM makes also the same exact setup but they use a bigger bearing
Good to know someone makes a bigger bearing! All the included bearings have fallen apart on me….I was lucky if I got one run out of them before they fell apart….obviously they know it’s a problem if they include extra bearings
@@RCKnockout good thinking but bad engineering. About to install the GPM today, been having to much fun with the Kagama and Outcast 8s recently almost forgot about my Xmaxx 😂
Hey Nolan, i have a 1650kv max6 combo. With a m2c motormount. Im running mod1 gears 20 pinion, 50 spur. If i go smaller with spur (like35 mod 1.5) my motor wil not solide deel enough (gears dont touch) or are mod 1.5 gears larger in diameter? Or should i upgrade to a 1100 kv in order to make the motor sit higher? Sorry it might sound be a bit confusing
Well tbh I’m not sure how the size compares to a 20/50 mod 1…..the biggest issue you’ll have js the pinion bore for the 1.5 mod gears is 8mm so it won’t fit on the 1650kv motor….It might work with a “5mm to 8mm” adapter sleeve but I wouldn’t be able to guarantee that….the 1100kv it will fit up directly
@michielpoorrvliet3003 try 54t spur with 20t pinion, a lot safer gearing and gears mesh a lot better with space to spare. I use the GPM motor mount with 1650kv max6 and if I run 20/50, gears don't even touch... so I HAVE to run 21/54... then my ratio is 2.5714, your ratio is 2.5 atm and thats a little harsh on the motor. 20/54 is 2.7 ratio and perfect for bashing and you'll hit 96kmh(60mph).
Im hoping to getting a Max 6 G2 and i want punch 5 with the stock motor. Im guessing 1.5 mod is out of the question? What do you think my best gear option is for Max 6 G2 with stock motor?
Do you have to upgrade the motor mount to use these gears mate or will they fit like on normal setup and please let us no what they are like and if they make motor hot quicker please thanks for the vid
@@sunnyv1281 I originally tried the 8mm adapter but I couldn’t get it to work with the gears…so I put in a whole new motor and esc…it might have been the particular adapter sleeve I bought, but I think this big of gears is better suited for an aftermarket system…at least a different esc
@@RCKnockout so each motor comes with its own mm shaft? That’s crazy there different types of gears that fit 5, 6,7,8 like what the heck? Which motor should I get ? To have these gears fit ? I’m so tired of stripping gears
@@sunnyv1281 I don’t think 6 or 7 mm is common…common sizes of motor shaft are 3.175….then it will usually jump up to 5mm and then 8mm…not to say there aren’t odd ball sizes out there…you’ll have to figure out what you wanna run…personally I’d go with a full system and ditch the stock esc altogether
If you want to quiet that annoying sound of metal gears i put some red and tacky grease very light coat on the gears and push the truck so the grease coats the teeth quiets it down alpt and helps with heat instead of running them dry.
Losing range or connection, i have a gut feeling its your esc. I suggest changing to max5 brother or xlx2 BUT i would start replacing your receiver first like i said, its a cheaper troubleshooting compare to esc
@@RCKnockout thanks for the info .. I have the same mount and I have to run 30 t piñon gear on it cause of the spacing.. sorry to here about job , it sucks
