The Red Wings finally made an impact signing for their season next year, getting Vladimir Tarasenko on a 2-year deal. Tarasenko has insanely good finishing ability and helps to replace much of the offense the team lost through free agency. To make the signing happen, Detroit traded Robby fabbri and a conditional 4th to the Anaheim Ducks for a goaltending prospect to shed his $4M cap hit. They also signed Tyler Motte to a 1-year deal, he won't score much, but he will improve the team defensively and on the penalty kill. #LGRW

i would say steve improved the financials of the team while keeping the compete level the same. the team is in a good position financially to make another move via trade if the right situation becomes available. this is also the year we start to see some of the youth break the lineup. things are still moving in the right direction. stay the course!

Around 20 mil to pay Seider, Raymond, Valeno and Bergrenn. Maybe another move or two to trade a defensman and Goaltender, and maybe get a descent right d. Like the signing, it was a concern and we needed to a top 6 forward, and we also offload Fabri and his salary. Still have room for prospects on the roster. We will see how the roster looks like come in October.

They should be at least as good now but I think they have a higher ceiling possible - it really will depend heavily on whether Raymond can pick up where he left off and whether Kane or Tarasenko don't lose a step - that happens and they should be improved significantly.

They're gonna miss Sprong. Tarasenko makes up for the lost production of Ghost. Gustafson makes up for the lost defense of Walman. Bonus Kane makes up the lost offense of Walman and some of Sprong. But there's still that little bit of production gone. But I think there's wo much room for improvement for Husso and the backup that there's still a good possibility they improve.

I’m with you Scotty, I want to see another move. I think it has to be a defenseman to pair with Seider. We have the assets to trade - Husso, Berggren, a defenseman.. we’ll see what happens.

2nd pair RHD is more what I’m thinking, ideally ekblad. Edvinsson-Seider Gustafsson-Ekblad Chariot-Maatta That would give us. legit Top 4 defense along with a legit top 6 forward group and 2 solid games that can play 40 games each (Lyon and Talbot)

@@ericw3229 I mean copp isn’t that bad. He wins face offs good on the pk and is a solid 3c. The biggest problem most people have with him is the contract. If he was around 3 mil it wouldn’t be a bad signing.

Last year’s FWD core was a combination of: Kane-Larkin-Debrincat Perron-Compher-Raymond Fabbri-Copp-Rasmussen Sprong-Veleno-Fisher-Kostin-Czarnik Now it’s: Kane-Larkin-Debrincat Raymond-Compher-Tarasenko Berggren-Copp-Danielson(?) Rasmussen-Veleno-Motte-Fisher-Mazur(?)

Ras-Copp-Fischer was an excellent line. They had the highest xGF% of any Wings forward line with over 100 minutes TOI together. I will be shocked if they don't try to run that line back. I think Scotty is mixing them up with the Compher-Copp-Ras line, which was an absolute failure.

It's a bit of an issue that Raymond, Kane, and Tarasenko are all right wings. Either you make Raymond play the left wing which might not be ideal, or else Kane or Tarasenko play 3rd line which isn't ideal. The top 6 may be solidified but won't necessarily all be in their natural spots.

I like the way the team is changing with the additions but I'm worried we might have a step back because the players need to learn how to play with their new teammates and also in a new system so it might take a little bit to play as a team and learn about the other players on your team

Tarasenko is 4 years younger than Perron and produced about the same points so really it's an equal tradeoff, but you lose Fabbri in the process. In the end he's a top 6 forward but for 2 years this is just a bridge to guys like Bergren and possibly Nate Danielson.

On paper this team is comparable to last year's. However, there are intangibles to think about, such as the improvement of guys like Raymond and Seider, the hunger this team will have after last year's finish, and (hopefully) a shared load for the healthy goalies

So can someone help me out with something here, 🤔 so in today's new NHL power teams like the Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers especially from a few seasons ago able to have as many good players as you do on their roster.. even at the Vegas Golden Knights as well.. I'm saying with like the way contract is and with the cap.. what is it because of the driveway and because they're young guys are already taking that early leap therefore they don't have to spend as much.. because about three of their players are on the rookie contracts or something like that and a lot of the other song free agents are on good deals or something?? .. like how are things like that able to afford so many good players and keep them for like a few years at a time?.. you know what i mean??... Just trying to see if that's what Stevie's trying to set us up for in a couple of seasons,.. where were able to just go on a fruit splash and get like 2-3 STUDS in one offseason and be that ELITE team..🤔 Thank you to whoever can help 🙏

Well Florida is losing players as we speak because of the cap. Montour just left. Great defenceman. Edmonton has half their cap tied up in forwards. They got lucky their goaltending held up with a rookie. Vegas plays the system with injury reserve. Keeping good players out all season and then playing them in the playoffs. No salary cap in the playoffs. Their payroll was 100 million come playoff time. A team can only hold on to great players for so long. Tampa Bay just lost Stamkos because of age and money. Yzerman's plan of long term success really isn't sustainable in today's NHL but he's gonna try

In regards to the top 6, I just don't want the Wings to have Kane and Cat on the same line anymore. It worked in the past becaase both of their foot speed were plus, but now they just slow enough that they get bullied by larger defence hounds. Theyre just too small to be effective even with Larkin carrying the load in the middle.

wouldn’t combine 2 goalies in 1 trade. i’m assuming he’s looking to move 1 and if he can’t he’ll buy out Hussos last year. losing Husso would give us 4+ million in space and we’d still have solid organizational depth NHL- Talbot and Lyon AHL- Cossa and Campbell ECHL- Gylander and Gage Alexander

Tyler Motte is from Michigan Another local guy in the room. Talbot’s wife is from Michigan So there are tons of Michigan connection in that locker room Jack Campbell is another one Couple guys from Minnesota (Holl, Lyon) and from Illinois (Compher) This team is like Detroit Great Lakers

The Wings have a bad taste in their mouth from last year. They will improve! As Yzerman has said, we want a team that wins, not just make it to the playoffs. I'm with Yzerman, I'd rather miss the playoffs, then make it, then get bounced out every 1st round. It would be the same rhetoric from the fans if the Wings were the Leafs!

@davidlaffin5747 I think you'll see a couple of the young guys. Ed will be up there full time, and I'm sure a forward or two will compete. Our window opens in the 26-27 season if you look at where our contracts are set to expire. Until then Stevie is just putting a few pieces together, trying to build a winning culture.

This has been the plan the whole time, sign veteran guys to have a competitive team while the young guys slowly get plugged in. This is just a replace for Perron don't move the needle this don't make the team better brings us back to the same as last yr. Basically the same team as last yr. Steve will waste a pick to trade for a upgrade a goal. But he will ship 2nd 4th walman and Fabs for nothing. Stop giving Steve a pass this team is no better

Perron was SO SLOW last year. Good shot but he’s just too slow now. Vlad is an upgrade. Still need a true second line center and an offensive defenseman
