I sympathise wholeheartedly with you as I, too, suffered a few years ago with dreadful migraines. I stopped having caffeine on the doctor's advice. What a difference it has made. I rarely suffer with migraines nowadays. It is lovely to have you back podcasting again. Thank you.

I’ve cut out caffeine too☹️Any coffee you see me pouring is decaf which is a big change for me. I was a HUGE caffeine addict! lol! Unfortunately it hasn’t helped the head but has helped other symptoms. I think medication may to be blame. I’m so glad your headaches have eased. It must be such a relief 😊

Unfortunately we have had some major health problems within our family this year and I know that stress affects my migraines. I definitely need to calm down and not worry so much but that isn't easy either. Hope you soon get back to your normal cheery self.

I had crippling headaches due to a medication I was on. At the time the doctors said it was very unlikely as it wasn't a side effect of that particular drug and I had to take it for something else. (Azathioprine for Crohns disease). In the end I said I'd rather have the Crohns tbh and I stopped it. It has now been added as a side effect. It's definitely worth looking carefully at medication you may be on@@HawthornCottageCraft

There are a couple of "new" migraine medications although they're something like 25 years old now. In the US they're called Maxalt and various names ending in "triptan". They never worked for me but they do for most people. What I took was a medication containing ergotamine. It's become harder to get in the US because it's a controlled substance, but it's still available through some pharmacies. Over the counter, I took Excedrin, which is a combination of aspirin, acetaminofen and caffeine. (I just checked and apparently it's no longer sold in the UK, but maybe it's available under another name and if not, you could take one aspirin and one acetaminofen with a strong cup of coffee.) So you might want to talk to your doctor about these. I was lucky - since menopause I rarely get migraines - but I used to get them four or more times a week so I really do know what you're going through. One more thing: a colleague taught me to put my thumbs on each side of my nose and use some pressure to bring them up and across the eye socket under the eyebrows and out to the temples. It's supposed to help drain fluids from the sinuses and it sometimes does.

Yes, I myself am a physiotherapist. I recommend you searching a good one who does drainage of the face, deep tissue release of neck, stretching and strengtening exercises. It will help you, I am sure of it. Take care.

Hope you find something soon to eradicate the headaches. I have heard of your local yarn shop and intend to visit in the summertime but have never got around to it. The shop looks lovely - as does Gifted. Does Gifted have a coffee shop attached?
