Hmm. For early evening in Paris, this doesn't look very crowded, but it is lovely

I get the sense it must be a tough transition after having such a peak experience of your month in Greece connecting with the beauty and simplicity of farm life in a small village and then immersed back into the hyper commercialized excess of Paris. I agree it feels a bit cold and disconnected. Hopefully you're taking care with yourself. I'm hearing other vloggers say that this daily Vlogmas commitment is really too much.❤

A lovely way to spend the evening together! The lights may be cold, but still so special - they brighten up these long dark nights.

I understand what you are saying. Many years ago The light displays were not so huge. There was a lot more natural decorating with fresh greens & red ribbon. I remember a series of "hot air" ballons suspended over the street going from Fauchon to l"Eglise Madeleine. They were large & they criss-crossed the street. They were absolutely magical. I remember a group of fir trees at the end of the Champs-Elysees that were heavily flocked with lights shining from the ground up onto them in a constantly changing kaleidoscope of color. All of the patisseries had special displays of Christmas specialties in their windows. There were hot roasted chestnuts being sold from a roaster in the street near the Galleries Lafayette. There were small shops & boutiques decorated with garlands of greens complemented by silver foil garlands. Thank you for showing us the 2023 Christmas displays in Paris. Perhaps they are more commercial--they are definitely larger & I love them. By comparison I went into San Francisco with a friend today to look at all of the Christmas decor. Not much to see. The only major crowd was near Union Square. And to call what we saw "minimalist" would be funny if it wasn't so sad. Maybe the Grinch stole our Christmas?

Thank you for showing us what Paris is like in Christmas. I was actually about to request of you to show us around the streets of Paris, even around your neighbourhood.

When it comes to the stores, it's always branded no matter where you go. I loved it when you guys were just walking down the street and the trees were lit all along the walkway.

Thank you for sharing Paris st night. So lovely with the lights. It is truly a lovely sight. You have to remember that is why the people come out to see the beautiful Xmas decorations. It’s the only time of year that people go all out with the decor and the lights. It truly is an attraction to see. I loved seeing on video and can only imagine how lovely it must be to see in person. Thank you so much for bringing us along Ariel. Happy holidays to you and Jean.

I was just thinking as you say and I do agree; there is a certain charm about all the lights and decoration but not Christmasy, lacks warmth. All the blue light would make me anxious too. Nevertheless thank you for sharing, as we all want to see Christmas in Paris 🩷

Thank you, I enjoyed your video in spite of the lights, blatant branding and crowds. Unfortunately, social media also plays a huge role in ubiquitous branding. RU-vidrs, vloggers, instagrammers and TikTokkers alike all play a role in influencing the public at large, which in turn, not only drives consumerism but also crowds (heaven forbid anyone should experience FOMO). One of the dark sides of technology if you will. I’m forever grateful to have experienced not only Paris but other parts of France and Europe before the widespread availability and use of the internet. (I used to choose my hotels from the red (hardcover) Michelin Guide and make my reservations over the phone.) It was a simpler time when most places were not nearly as promoted, commercialized and crowded as they are now. A lot has changed in the course of 40 years, but I still love and appreciate Paris and all of France! Also, since Christmas markets have mainly German origins, you can expect to see much more traditional markets in the German-speaking parts of Switzerland and Italy, and of course, in Strasbourg, France. Joyeux Noël !

Thank you for sharing. With the amount of people walking around it seemed relatively calm compared to the way things are in California.

Dior and Chanel have the exact same decorations on their Bond Street stores in London.

Honestly I was a bit surprised because all of the stores had the same decorations. I thought they would change them based on the store and location in Paris 🤔

Doesn’t look crowded to me. Crowded is NYC at Christmas. Day or night

I didn’t film at the most crowded times ! But I also think it was the fact that there were full blow camera crew everywhere and everyone taking pictures. It seemed kind of unreal tbh
