Volkswagen golf mk5 boot not opening handle not responding electrical fix.
this is just a temporary fix but seems to be working fine.
apparently a very common issue on vw's.
First the boot handle wouldn't respond, then the fog light warning came up on the dash with the brake light also, then I realised there was no power for all of the rear tailgate.

Brilliant Video - The wife has been banging on at me to get this fixed for three weeks - local garage not interested, £4 at Halfords and this video and its all sorted - exact same wires in the same place. Thanks again

Great tip as this exact same thing happened to me this morning. Temporary fix installed, and plans to have the looms replaced at some point as they are all showing signs of cracks and tears in the insulation. I'll be interested to hear what you done to have it permanently fixed

@@LT_TOMMY_ I use my car as a van at the minute to do plumbing jobs on the side , climbing into the back every evening like a dickhead the last week to open the boot from the rear 🤣and mines a 3 door to cap it off!I'm fuc#ing overjoyed mate fixed and all this evening exactly like yours !I looked at the other side but not the passenger side ! I had this issue, fixed it in the same place but its gone again. I swapped the whole loom and still nothing, any ideas? I've checked the fuse box too.

Is there a fuse for this ? I can’t seem to find one. Also did you have to disconnect the battery to reconnect the wires ?

That is probably the problem on mine my trunk won’t open and my reverse lights won’t work and my rear wiper does t work so it’s probably a lot of wires in that area of mine

Hi. My rear wipers and front washer fluid wont work when I have the trunk lid open, and then the fuze blows. No problem when the trunk is open lid is open. Any ideas what this could be?

@@LT_TOMMY_ So I checked cables, and brown and white was missing insulation, so you could see the copper. When I closed the trunk lid, brown and white made contact, which resulted in a short circuit. Ended up just taping the visible copper with electrical tape, put in a new fuze - and it works! Now the rear wiper and fluid, and the front washer fluid works again.
