great vid!....have had one of these puppies for 1.5 yrs.....LOVE IT!!!!....only issue is thin tires...have gotten a flat from a sand spur and a small cut from unknown....replaced tubes and added slime....my local elec bike shop is searching for thicker tires/tubes...he thinks a thicker mongoose tube might work altho only 4"....will try 'em in awhile....i generally cruise in 5th gear, level 5 batt. assist....get 12 mph and average about 22+ miles between charges...i do use just the throttle, no peddling now and then.... when i lock it while in a store, restaurant, etc, i take the battery with me.....when using shopping cart, i bring the seat post, also.... ;o) worth every penny!....when i go on longer trips, (am 73) the only thing that's sore are my face muscles from grinning for so long....

was the bike put into the van and laid on it's side with the derailleur side down ? would it be better to lay it down on the other side ?

You are right sir! When I made this video it was a few years ago, I didn't know how to take care of a bike.

....Ameer, the cable around the bike is useless [ about 15 to 10 seconds and any good bolt cutter would cut through it ] and the Krypto means nothing once someone has hauled it into a vehicle and later has time to cut through the Krypto with a cutting wheel ] i suggest not only removing the battery [ makes the Volt less appealing or sellable for a thief ] but use a HARDENED steel chain, [ Abus makes these too as well as the other one mentioned below ] it comes with a canvas covering and lock from a bike store, or a flat Abus foldable bike lock [ they are almost impossible to get through even with the biggest cutter AND will not bend or break ] for me the hardened steel chain from a bike store [ chains from hardware stores are soft and easily cut ] is the best if you get one long enough it will go around the bike and a pole or whatever [ i am an ex Downhill Biker and had two attempts to steal my $7000 Transition Bottle Rocket DH bike both failed [ one was at whistler left out overnight at the B & B i was staying at ] ...the Volt is worth spending up to $100 on for a good lock - btwe if you are going with the Krypto get two, one for the front and the rear otherwise whatever U bolt lock you get be CERTAIN it has upturned hook latches at the bottom of each side of the U - bike thieves can use a small crow bar to rip apart a U bolt lock in seconds that only has one side turned up at the bottom . Anyway, like your videos - keep them coming !

Hey man thanks for your post! You clearly have all of knowledge on bikes and locks! I missed up on my first bike... You live and you learn! Looking forward from hearing more from you!

I use a chain as well. I also use a thin cable to secure my Mariner seat to the bike, I will also loop my helmet through the cable as well if I am not taking it with me. The chain is heavy duty and my cable is really thin.

Great video, and the first one also, do you have a mailing address for controller? By the way be careful parking city pole. Certain city they break your lock and take your bike.

Good tips, but please get something better than that cable for locking the tires. Take a look at the ABUS 14KS 6' Maximum Security Square Chain and Sleeve. Yes, it's pricey and heavier than the cable but you've got a great investment there to protect.

I'm glad to hear you have a good attitude about this! Stay strong and I hope the theif gets caught. If you registered your bike with the police you might just get it back

Everything is great except. "life with your legs not back" and lock the krypto D lock around the pole and wire your tires through don't use the cable to lock around the pole.. so weak...

what's the max speed
@ameerally
@ameerally 4 года назад
Depends, on a flat surface and someone weighting about 170lbs you can get about 32kmph
@Ualaa

In Canada, the assist cannot go beyond 32 km/hr. Depending on the effort you put into pedaling, you can go faster that that.
