If you can't afford a real VR headset, then as long as you know that you're getting into, you could buy a phone VR as long as you're not prone to motion sickness.
@@CanadianDuramax There are finger trackers, so toe trackers would be that far off. Voidstar labs, a yt channel, made a finger track glove once, you could use the same principle for the toes. It would just be uncomfortable to walk with bare feet.
Important note about the Quest 2: If you purchase Virtual Desktop, you can play a lot, if not all, of VR-PC games wirelessly, and through recent Virtual Desktop updates, the experience is a blast. Honestly, the value of the Quest 2 is insane!
@@GreekGamerJim Same here I have my quest I dont give a crap if Zucc wants to spy on me just put in a real name and birth date and move on youre never gonna use facebook.
Been watching Vtubers for several months now, then looking into stuff for making an avatar and motion capture led me to 3D models as well which has me now falling into the VR rabbit hole completely. Just watched through a bunch of your videos and looking into what sort of VR set up to get myself. Thanks for all the info!
@@bonnie7452 I did! Got the Valve index! Haven't played Vr as much as expected, but still enjoying it. Been having trouble getting into VRchat cause I'm not too social, but still lots of other fun things to experience. My main problem right now is also just... not too much space in my apartment for VR, so I'm limited
Well... After 2 hours of searching a good vr headset you made it so easy for me to understand. Thanks for this video. Also, your voice sounds pretty! You should make more videos like this. It's really good instructed then others do. And not to long for a video. Clear, smooth en fast.
So glad this video was made. I was so worried about spending a lot on a VR headset and thinking it may not be as good as it seems when receiving it. So glad this channel made informative videos about the Index headset. Now all i need is to know what gaming pc to get to go with this great headset(since i'll be replacing my pc set up soon)
hi, I've been looking to get into VR for a while now while saving up money (as its not cheap to get the full experience) but im having trouble navigating all the different options out there, this video did put it into a workable perspective, but it sadly looks to be 3 years outdated, so my question is, which VR head set in these 3 categories would you now recommend to someone new looking to get into VR gaming and community? or is it better to still hold out for new coming developments? this as both you and thrillseeker (in my opinion) give excellent reviews and updates that look to be without too much bias. with friendly regards
I can absolutely recommend the Quest 2 to get started with VR. Being able to play Beatsaber without any wires is fantastic and not having to set up base stations is great if you don't have a permanent play space (yet). For less intense PC games like VRChat, the freedom of wireless streaming is great and if you need lower latency, there's always the link cable. (3rd party cables work too) The downsides for me are the lmited FOV and that you should budget ~100$ for accessories since some of the stock parts are not very comfortable. I'm very happy with the Quest 2 so far and I will probably use it until some amazing new PCVR headset comes out eventually. Even then I will probably still use it as a standalone Beatsaber machine for the convenience.
Pulleys are a cheap and easy to set up way to achieve almost wireless feel on a wired headset. You just need to be careful and maintain your cable well so it doesn't get twisted too many times
@@tabushka292 Yes, that's an option if you have a fixed play space, but you still need to be wary of twisting the cable too much. And with wifi streaming I can have the PC in another room. This is a big benefit for me because I have to play in different rooms depending on who is home and what they're doing. Needing a dedicated play space can be a big barrier to entry for many people, so being flexible there is a big plus.
wow that was by far the best guide ive watched so far! deserves a lot more views :) amazing quality and its so satisfying to watch the smooth vr character animation!
thanks for the updates i got me an og HTC vive from when vr first became a thing but i rarely used it. its sitting in a box rn unused i am excited to see what these new headsets can do! im probably gonna buy one soon
I love my Quest 2. The display is awesome, refresh rate is now 90hz native with a chance of it becoming 120hz in the future, software makes it able to play SteamVR titles wireless. It's just a shame that it doesn't work without an active Facebook profile.
The only problem with Index is that USB sometimes is not recognized for some by windows. And maybe I need to better adjust it, got excited too much and now the screen is kinda blurry. But except that, Index was worth buying the full kit on Steam. Edit: I got my index in 8 days from day of orderin and I'm in Poland. So that Sad news was not for me. Surprisingly, for Poland delivery is max 2 weeks for some reason.
VR noob here. Subbed after two videos. Super informative and friendly information. Thank you so much. My mind is blown and I have to get one of these ASAP. I mostly play more realistic shooters and looked up Onward and Pavlov. Gotta get after that shit.
I can't decide if I want to buy the oculus cv1, htc vive, oculus rift s or oculus quest 2. I have a decent pc so I personally would choose a pc vr. What do you recomend?
I mean, saying that the Quest 2 has a limited library isn't completely right. More so because apparently, most current vr users are Quest users and developers had way more of an incentive to develop for Quest. And with the link, it has access to all the Oculus exclusives (which aren't available for the other headsets)
The only real option for holidays is only Quest 2. Without taking that in mind and looking for the best value for it price, think the order is Quest 2 > Reverb G2 > Valve Index, and the best option is the Reverb G2 with Valve Knucles and Base Stations. I would discard the others, because are not a good deal, unless you get a very discounted Rift S.
I'm 1000% sure I'd get the Index... If it didn't break the bank so hard. For now I'll be settling on the Quest 2 and a link cable. Hopefully once I have a more stable income I can begin investing in an Index. Not only would it just be insanely fun, it'd also be great for if I decided to stream! VR is super fun to watch as well!
2020 is the best year to stick a expensive box with a screen on your head! Also jokeing aside the OQ 2 is amazing but the only drawbacks are as you said, the small library but another drawback is that it is linked with facebook and requires you to make a facebook account to even have a option to use it and for people like me who dont wanna make an account on the platform known from tracking and collecting every little milibyte of personal information about you or your friends and familly amazing video as always though
thank you this really helps, me and my brother are collecting money for a vr headset but for now we are only have $229 (sorry if i made any spelling mistakes english is not my first language)
Adorable to watch and listen to! Very interesting. I keep seeing the Vive Pro which is even more expensive, and since I have a PS4, I was hoping to see how PSVR fits into this. One day, I think I'll pick up a Valve Index based on this video!
Index is great but not $1000 great if you know what I mean. Like the Quest 2 is 1/3 of the price but not 1/3 of the quality. But that's true for all high end PC parts. There's diminishing returns. If you have $1,000 to blow then go for it but otherwise you could have 99% of the experience with a cheaper headset. Especially with the G2 out that has some great features from the Index (like the audio)
I actually ordered my valve index for the first time on dec 23 and is arriving this wednesday dec 30, and im really so excited to get it because it will be also my first VR experience
Just wanted to say that the quest 2 can also wirelessly connect to your pc without any expensive add-ons only virtual desktop app and a update via sidequest. Only downside you need 5ghz WiFi and your pc must be connected via Lan to the router.
@@florencepaibomsai2049 facebook sells your info and what u do and stuff, thats why the headsets so cheap, because ur the product, if ur 13 it wont really matter, but for older people alot dont like it
You forgot to mention that you can use virtual desktop with the quest 2 to stream pcVR games wirelessly (you will need okay wifi, but bs like wifi 6 is defo not a neccessity). Also the quest 2 supports 90hz and you can already get that using SideQuest. :)
Hey phia, i was planning to chat on discord but im unable tto do so.umm anyway, im planning to buy vr headset cuz i want to play beatsaber, is vr like xbox, only can play like specific game with a specific type of headset? Just wondering
At this point I think the quest 2 is the best value. Its resolution is second to the g2 and it has the option of wireless pc vr. Meanwhile the g2's tracking quality is currently very questionable.
The Valve Index has a lower resolution than the Quest 2 so the visuals for pc vr would look more detailed on what you already have with a link cable, so I would look into the G2 or DecaGear1
@@jakethebarcode From the through the lens videos I've seen, the Quest 2 does not look much clearer than the Index, if at all. I think the less resolution is a good trade for all the other amazing features you get with the Index. The G2 seems good (even though it's still lower refresh rate and fov than the Index and needs a better GPU) but the controllers and the tracking are still worse than the Index. Your best option in VR that's not like $5,000 would probably be G2 with Knuckles controllers. That's what I'm looking into doing as I already have the Index and I want a headset with better clarity. Considered the Pimax, but from what I heard that has blurry edges and other issues and it's way more expensive.
The Oculus Quest 2 can actually run games at 90hz AND has been rumored that it may support 120hz in the future! Plus the fact that you can connect your headset to your pc with not only a link cable but also Virtual Desktop is definitely a deal. Plus it's only $299!!! However, I will say that the tracking isn't always the best, the battery life isn't the greatest and it may get a little uncomfy... But there are quite a few things that may improve those things like having an external battery, improving lighting in your playspace, and buying the Elite Strap (a replacement for the stock head strap).
2:58 Yep, this is a rabbit hole. You start off buying a headset, then you want top of the line gpu, then why not the cpu too and now ram is not enough. Then you want a better head set and the cycle continues
For information, if you buy the two base stations of the valve index separately you can get the whole thing faster. I got it in less than half a week in EU with an overcost of 40 euros.
Could I use the one that is about $25? Will it work the same as the more expensive ones? Sorry for these dumb questions I’m a 13 year old who really wants a VR headset but don’t have enough money for it. And also Will it work with roblox?
Honestly HIGHLY considering just picking up an og vive on ebay. Can get for like 300$ (Canadian). I can't afford any of these higher ones. And yes there are some that are cheaper with better screens, but they don't use lighthouse tracking. I'm in college and can't spend more than like 350 Canadian total. Comment for help
I will most likely get the quest 2 a bit after the holidays, i only really want money for this year since i already have some money i got saved, and i think the others would be too expensive, from what i see quest 2 is a good starting headset, so i'll go for that, ty for the video
Just to tell You the fingers thing You Say as an advantage in the index is on the quest 2 and it is called hand tracking but in being confortable it wins the index
guys full body tracking is the best thing ever i have finally got a valve index with fbt and its amazing, though my specs dont make the resolution full on index since i have an i5 cpu with 1050ti gpu. but the best in my opinion is the htc vive for a starter headset it was really good and it is fbt supported 1.0 trackers wise. also 2.0 depending on if you want to get 2.0 base stations to support 2.0 trackers.
Quest 2 wireless gaming for Steam VR games is possible, even without buying an expensive link cable. All it costs is about $20 or so for Virtual Desktop and a bit of setup. There are plenty of tutorials on youtube for it and it's worth it if you want wireless PC VR gaming for cheap
Running the performance test now!! Wish me luck my pc can run vr!! Edit: IT SAYS ITS PERFORMING WELL ABOVE WHAT IS NEEDED FOR HIGH-QUALITY VR!!!!! OCULUS BABY HERE I COME!!!!!
Great video, but I would note that several headset specific features, most notably the Index controller's "grip" and the Vive's tracking pods are very limited in the number of games that utilizes them. Most VR games just go for the one size fits all approach.
Good info, keep up the good work, You should do some of your show as an avatar, and some of it in person, the people want to see your real, pretty face more often
I got I quest 2 for my mom, aunt, and sister for Christmas becuase they love the idea of vr for a while and to a degree they spent so much time with the wii FAR beyond the trending point. (they did the whole phone "vr headset" attachment when that was sort blowing up and they got the phone that could do it). They're not big game people. With the lockdowns and my mom being a bit of health issue, I thought it would be something nice to keep her, my aunt, and my sister active and entertained. I even have I a list of games that I thing would be fun for them. I though now that I think about it, they're gonna call about how to set it up quite a bit... oh well. Small sacrifice
Hi, i watched a ton of videos about vr headsets... I have a very good pc and dont know what i should buy... I want to mainly play beatsaber and to draw... BUT it shouldn't be very expensive... (i still dont know whats a good price but i would spend 100 - 500 euro (120,49 - 602,45 dollar ) to get a good piece of vr headset.) Just a little bonus but whats the cheapest headset i can still use for drawing ? Thanks for the help
I never thought anyone would present the Vive Cosmos as an option for newcomers to VR. I think this video is missing some pros and cons. If I wanted to play wireless VR I could buy 4 Quest 2´s for about the same price as a Cosmos Elite with wireless adapter, right? Anything that is a lot better with the Elite? And if I was considering to buy a Cosmos, I would hope someone would advice me to get the Rift S instead.
The Index is great though. It's only downside right now is the lower resolution than the new HMDs right now, but it still holds up. And it wins against the other headsets in every other spec by a long shot
so if i understand correctly, with a Link cable, I can use the oculus quest 2 as a sort of inside-out VR headset ? and if I want to fullbody tracking I need an extranal vr headset ?
Love how you say that the rift is obsolete and doesn’t work yet I’m still using a htc vive and oculus cv1 with steam perfectly. Do you even know what you’re talking about
If you get a Quest 2 and want to use a link cable, do not get it from Oculus or the Oculusu brand ($80), you can find them for 1/2 half the price on Amazon and next day freeshiping and even longer in length.
