Joy Cons are up there among the worst controllers ever invented. I didn’t buy a switch because I think the controllers and battery life was a joke. I might be wrong of course. Ian's argument is so flawed it should not even be duscussed in a tech show. What happens when Nintendo realeases the new Switch next year with newly designed Joy Cons? Stop day dreaming and keep it real......PLEASE!

I get where Ian is coming from with just the principle of being able to use joycons or any other random generic controller but this discussion is going nowhere. The companies are just not interested in it and it isn't going to be a good experience anyway. It's similar to how Half-life Alyx was being emulated on PCs. It was cool in an abstract way and good to exist in principle but it just wasn't a good experience and was never going to be the way forward.

Ultraleap restructuring makes it more appealing for acquisition. Has been great hand tracking tech so hopefully it pays off. Happy 4th thanks for the content! 🎉

I agree about the vision pro weight. Its baffling to me that looks superseeded comfort. I wonder if the developers really tried it. I miss Steve Jobs. I think he would have put weight before cosmetics.

I wish the PCVR (Meta Home) version of Horizon Worlds worked with my Kat Walk. It’s the only Metaverse platform that I’ve used that doesn’t work with it. 🙁

@ 27:59 I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: Apple Messages green bubbles are for SMS, not specifically for Android! There are times when a iPhone user is messaging another iPhone user and their phone can’t access the Messages server. Their iPhone then falls back to SMS and we both see green bubbles. It is NOT for Android only. This is an old, tired argument that needs to be put to rest.

You need to add a top strap. Like I used spigens quest pro too strap. But you have to have the strap close to the front like right near the ear pods. If you buy the spegin one meant for Apple pro it sits a inch to far back and still causes pain

I'm new to watching these, but I gotta say that the joy-con rant is legitimately a deterrent to continuing to. It's just so unnecessarily stubborn, and causes Ian to come across as not understanding the current reality of the technology. The joy-cons specifically is such a puzzling hill to die on also. We just finally escaped the nightmare of PSVR1 Move controllers compromising the VR experience for the sake of saving a few bucks. And to here this has been a recurring argument on the show? God lord...

I’m having a hard time deciding if I should just get the q3 or wait for quest 3s. Just to make sure the 3s is a downgrade and not an upgrade ?

I appreciate Ian's insights, but I feel like recently it's getting more and more unhinged and it didn't feel like much of a discussion. Like this episode was mostly David giving really good arguments based on technical constraints and the current market and user behavior, but Ian keeps arguing about very far out ideas that don't seem to be based on any of those things. I used to recommend this podcast as the most dense in terms of valuable information, but I'm close to start skipping around these rants. I hope that doesn't sound too harsh, I'm still a fan and some people might enjoy these discussions. But I'd prefer if it's either a podcast about news and industry trends with insights and technical background information, at which David is world class, or those wild speculations. But recently it feels more like 2 people trying to do these two types of podcasts at the same time with neither being interested in the other one's.

I think somewhere deep down Ian knows that Apple will not develop a controller fro gaming, at least not anytime soon. And a lot of people have joy cons already so it could be a stop gap. But it is obviously not a path to pursue. Hopefully Apple pays attention to gaming for once otherwise I don't see how Vision line will compete with Quest 4 and beyond, which will 100% have eye tracking and will double down on productivity to all remaining close software gap with AVP.

At the moment there is only one major meta game relased, not many (AW2). AC nexus is an ubisoft game.

The whole "AR", "MR", "VR" thing is just confusing to the public. The technical distinctions between them aren't really meaningful to the average consumer. Even professional organizations and manufacturers can't agree on what to call AR vs MR. And the lines between all of these are going to become increasingly blurred and also increasingly moot. I think we should just drop pushing the "MR" and "AR" terms altogether. These have very little traction with the public. "VR" is already the term the public actually uses for all of it. It's a term which is already part of the public consciousness even before the rise of modern VR technology because it has long been in sci fi books, movies, and shows. "MR" in particular just isn't sexy as a term. And I don't think the industry will do itself any favors by splitting hairs over stuff like whether the Vision Pro is technically an MR or VR device. _The public thinks of VR as any device which lets you see virtual things._ Whether this is some of your view, all of your view, half faded in, true pass through, etc isn't really the important part from the consumer perspective.
