VW Crafter 2E limp mode VCDS codes are P0299 and P2563, low Boost due to vacuum fault(s).

On our return journey from Kent a couple of weeks ago the Crafter went into limp mode just outside of Shrewsbury. After crawling the last few miles home I plugged in VCDS and the info below was stored, The fault turned out to be a Vacuum leak or possibly two as shown in the video.

Glad it may have helped! My van is still being a bit of a pita, I get a Nox sensor fault code every 2-300 miles it’s had a replacement which lasted about 6 months, annoyingly expensive things so I think I will just live with it until it packs up properly!

I’d keep it as a spare in case you get stuck. I had the vacuum pipes to my EGR changeover solenoid reversed after a new clutch and ended up with a new N75 and then turbo which lasted 800 miles before throwing up the same error code. Borrowed a vacuum tester and worked my way up each line and found it wouldn’t hold with changeover solenoid in place. About to source another solenoid when it occurred to me that pipes could be wrong and after checking found they were. Easy fix in the end but frustrating to find as it wasn’t until the solenoid activated, under load with engine at operating temperature, that it lost vacuum and then couldn’t control the turbo properly. The fault code relating to turbo actuator position etc now makes sense but at the time pointed to a faulty actuator. Live and learn 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes I will thanks, alongside the old N75 valve which despite being dated as 2004 is probably fine. I am glad I tracked down this leak as we will heading back up to Scotland again soon and random limp mode would not be fun! Are you still on Arran? Last time we both visited that island was circa 1993 iirc on a Yamaha XJ900. Off to Mull this year!

@@CriftinsCampers I have the old N75 as a spare too. Funnily enough is was just after landing at Lochranza that the new turbo threw the same error code. It was hard work driving the narrow twisty roads down the south part, although some days it would behave (probably cooler days in retrospect where perhaps the EGR changeover didn’t operate). I’ve been back a few weeks now but over again later in the year I suspect. Enjoy Scotland 🙂

Hi! Is your Crafter biturbo maybe? Ours is biturbo and doesn't want to switch to second turbo at all,both of turbos have been tested and are working,new solenoids are put,still nothing. Any advice?
