This video shows that it is easy to change spark plugs on VW Passat B5, B5.5, B5+, 1.8T engine. They also put these engines on Audi A4 and some other models

Tylko przed wykręceniem świec ,warto przedmuchać sprężonym powietrzem, nawet takim w pojemniku do przedmuchiwania elektroniki. Warto dodać ,że nowe świeczki w tym silniku dokręcone powinny być z momentem 30Nm .

thank you for this awesome video.i have an issue with my b5.5 (2002)2.0 engine ALT. High Oil consumption ive been reading all over the internet and im not the only one. so im reading about an engine flush and change the oil 5w-30 longlife into 10w40 any recommendation or maybey any one is facing the same?

No, I don't have that car anymore. They are normally pretty easy to replace anyway. I know they deteriorate and brake with the flow of time..

With the engine hot it's better, the engine block expands (in all directions). It's the same reason why an F1 car's oil needs to be heated before it can be started, the tolerances are so small that when cold the pistons can't move in the cylinders.

Getting a random misfire code on my B5 1.8T.. could it be the spark plugs?? I do not know when the last time they were changed.

I think it's like with all serviceable parts - oil, filters etc. it's definitely worth replacing when you don't know history of that. I had someone complaining about misfire - and it was a coil.

yes the coils are vety often causing that misfire code. Back in the days Volkswagen had to call cars back for the coil replacement. First they replaced one bad coil - second time they replaced the whole coil pack. And that was free of charge for all the B5 Passat owners.

You didn't gap them. Do they come already gaped?

No I didn't. There are lots of arguments on forums, whether modern spark plugs should be gapped. Some say that been trying to gap in recent few years, but they were always spot on anyway. I didn't have a gapper, bought those high quality expensive plugs and thought that will do. In fact, I don't have much experience with petrol/gasoline cars. I must admit - it's a good question, and thanks for pointing on that. I've done my research - now I would rather gap them, or at least check.

I think you might want to replace valve stem seals. They are not so expensive, but they wear out with the mileage and start letting oil into cylinders. If you want to do it yourself, you need spaecial tool (can be bought on eBay) and of course to know what you doing. Or take it to garage and let professional to do it.

Sorry I don't know much about spark plugs, that was my only petrol car, all others are diesels.
