Great video mate! Very clearly explained & demonstrated! Thank you! Clever using clips to aid putting the belt back on! How come mines got the 'green stuff' & yours has the 'red stuff'? Mines a 2006 model but I'm not sure that's even significant. This is the first video of yours I've watched, but you did such a good job I just subscribed!

Thanks! The green or red stuff are different. The best thing to do is to go directly to a manufacturer site and get exactly what you need for your vehicle. You just put the manufacturer name & do a vehicle or rego search, then 'hey presto', all the work is done for you. www.datateck.com.au/lube/NulonAus/default.asp

Found this video perfect for replacing the water pump! Needing to replace my thermostat now & struggling to find a way to attack it
@MiracleMAX
@MiracleMAX 3 года назад
Hey FoldedDown Kleeips, I'm glad the video helped with the pump, but yes, the thermostat is not a fun guy. The engine was originally designed with a transverse application in mind, so replacing the thermostat would have been a 5 minute job - but no, they had to stick it in the other way and make our life difficult. There are several different methods to attack this beast, including removal of the transmission. Here is a video that shows a different method that is successful, but still a pain. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MeXH0mmES54.html&ab_channel=ZIGgassedUP I hope that helps! 😁 MiracleMAX

hey, cool video man. but im surprised you didn't give a quick mention of the radiator air bleed screw thing, for when refilling the cooling system with coolant. I just mean coz mostly amateurs or people inexperienced with this vehicle might be looking here to gain some confidence (Me). I'm working on 2006 VZ Calais with alloytec 190. GLA

Hey Jayson, Thanks for your comment & yes, I should have mentioned the bleed screw. I forgot because I don't use it to bleed the system. I just let it idle over & wait for the thermostat to open. I've never had any trouble, but I guess I should have shown its location in case others use that method. Good catch!

Great video, someone told me there is a special way to add the coolant on a VZ that involves a bleeder screw somewhere, so you don't get air bubbles. Is this true, can you do a video on that.
@MiracleMAX
@MiracleMAX 3 года назад
Hey Andrew O'Grady, I've never personally had any trouble bleeding the VZ engines. I simply fill with coolant and let it idle over until the thermostat opens, keeping an eye on the level and topping up when it drops. That being said, there is a bleed screw at the top of the radiator that will help bleed out any air in the system. MiracleMAX
@andrewogrady7505
@andrewogrady7505 3 года назад
@@MiracleMAX Ok thanks mate. Apparently (and I'm no expert) air bubbles causing overheating are a major problem in VZs therefore you need to follow a procedure involving turning the heater on and using that air bleed screw??? obviously your way works as well. I cant find a video showing the VZ on how to change/ fill up the coolant, can you make one please.
@MiracleMAX
@MiracleMAX 3 года назад
@@andrewogrady7505 Would love to next time a VZ with coolant replacement comes in. Yes, you should always turn your heaters on as they are part of the cooling circuit. In the meantime, this link may help you with your bleeding process. Just scroll down to 'Coolant & Filling Coolant'. That should give you some direction. 😊 forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/vz-ve-vf-alloytec-cooling-system-repairs.279976/

What a good video sir. I got an issue with my holden executive 2004 3.6engine. I do some flushing because I would like to put Coolant as previous owner just use normal water instead of Coolant. After flushing what I noticed is even I put the water full in the morning I find that I need to top up the radiator water again. I didn't put the Coolant yet because I want to double check if there is any leak. What should I do? Thanks
@MiracleMAX
@MiracleMAX 3 года назад
Hey Anselm Francis, It's good that you are replacing the water with coolant. Make sure you use good quality concentrate with the correct ratio of demineralised water. Have you pressure tested the cooling system, including the cap? Is there any water on the ground? Any oil in the water or water in the oil? Is the carpet wet at all inside the cabin that might indicate a leaky heater core? Here are links to other videos that might help as well. www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DGjZQfMDbOBo&ved=2ahUKEwi19NCRhLnxAhXpwjgGHat5BGwQwqsBMAF6BAgNEAE&usg=AOvVaw3TeehyuF1SfjfWdbTEY-az www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DO7tjL2UqvnU&ved=2ahUKEwi19NCRhLnxAhXpwjgGHat5BGwQwqsBMAB6BAgFEAE&usg=AOvVaw3MFSZS7HHlD37nlk883PLD Make sure you share what you find & don't forget to subscribe to the channel. Hey mate, great video! I've got an alloytec that's leaking from the same hole at the bottom of the water pump at about 1 drop every 2-3 seconds when the engine is hot. I've taken the pump off and there's no rattling and it spins freely, however the gasket seems to have a small chip taken out of it at the bottom (where the leaky hole is). My question is, is it worth trying to put in a new gasket or replace the whole pump anyway?
@MiracleMAX
@MiracleMAX 3 года назад
Hey IBM2217, Welcome to the channel! If coolant is leaking from that breather hole, that means the mechanical seal is leaking. For the work and price of a water pump, its better to be safe than sorry. Probably best to replace the pump to be sure. I doubt it would be coming from the gasket for that rate of coolant loss. Hi Max, Thanks for the tutorial. Do you think the VZ can run without the plastic shrouds? Are they only for show or do they perform some other purpose?
@MiracleMAX
@MiracleMAX 3 года назад
Hey suz4keeps, Do you mean the plastic covers on the engine itself - the ones I removed in the video? They are really just for cosmetic purposes. The big one I also removed at the front is needed to help direct the air through the radiator and should be left in place. MiracleMAX

Do you have to bleed system?
@MiracleMAX
@MiracleMAX 5 месяцев назад
Any coolant repairs require the system to be bled. Some of these can be a bit tricky, but I fill the cooling system, then let it idle with the heaters turned on, while adding coolant as needed. Wait for the top radiator hose to get hot, then the coolant itself should be hot at that stage. Fit the cap. Check the level the next day when it is cold.

I have vf commodore 2015 v6 strom Thermostat change now my gauge playing and go to high.you think what’s the problem Thank Mate
@MiracleMAX
@MiracleMAX 2 года назад
Hey Tristan Piano , Why was the thermostat changed? Is it possible that the temp sensor wire was knocked off during the thermostat replacement? Or perhaps squashed under something and now permanently earthed? Can you see on the scan tool what the engine temperature is? Is it always reading high as soon as you turn the ignition on? Is there a reset feature on the scan tool? Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be the 'engineering mode' that was offered on the VE. MiracleMAX

If water come out around gasket thats mean waterpum problem or gasket have no enough glue ? Thanks
@MiracleMAX
@MiracleMAX 3 года назад
Hey Ahmad Firdaus, It's hard to say without actually looking at it. There is a breather hole that allows pressure to equalise. Although it might look like the gasket is all that is leaking, after removal you might find coolant leaking from the breather hole like I did: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WncVYElZG1k.html As coolant leaks from the breather hole, it can be flicked around by the pulley and make it look like just a gasket. I hope that helps MiracleMAX

@MiracleMAX
@MiracleMAX 3 года назад
So is it the temperature on the gauge that is not stable or can you see the temperature on a scan tool or perhaps a infrared thermometer? How many Kilometres has the vehicle done? Are both the cooling fans working? Do you have oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil? What have you actually changed and what led you to change them? Has anything been done recently or when did you notice the change? Are there any fault codes? Is the coolant level correct & has the correct ratio of coolant/demineralised water been used? Is the coolant being drawn back into the radiator from the overflow bottle? Has all air been purged from the system? Is the thermostat working correctly? Is the water pump operating correctly? Can you feel heat through the heater core? Is the radiator in good condition? Let us know how you go with these tests to see if there is something I might be missing. MiracleMAX
