I've been crocheting for 41 years and I had never heard of this stitch before. Without your video I would never have been able to make it. This is so much easier to do thanks to watching you and knowing I wasn't alone when it came to putting the hook between the legs and having a bit of a struggle doing so. Instead of quitting I took a deep breath and persevered forward. Your right it does get easier with each row. Many thanks to you for taking the time to make such a helpful video for all like myself who had never used this stitch before. Now I look forward to making the tranquil washcloth. Blessings to you.

Hi! I just used this stitch for a mini project for the first time and I’m blown away! The yarn was very stretchy so I thought it wouldn’t work, but the end result is a bulky, no-seethrough beautiful pattern fabric ❤️ that even I as a beginner could follow! I think you should mention earlier why you make the second loop bigger though, as it helped me very much mid project!! It was way easier to find the “legs” on the stitch and put my hook there. I struggled a bit at the beginning but I persevered and I’m so happy I did! Thank you for being so patient and for the tutorial ❤️❤️❤️

You can also do the waist coat stitch with a half double or double crochet, it just depends on how dense and heavy you want your peace to be. The double crochet waistcoat stitch makes a beautiful basket

This video made so much sense but I’m still struggling so much. I’m following a mitten pattern where after making the cuff of the mitten, you join back on and start the mitten with this stitch. But because you’re crocheting directly into a mitten cuff, there’s no starting chain to get that good base for the stitch. The pattern says nothing about how to troubleshoot this so I’m totally lost. Anyone know how I can solve this?

Beautiful stitch. Thanks for sharing. I have a question: the waistcoat stitch is the same as the shadow single crochet stitch? Regards from argentina
@HeartHookHome
@HeartHookHome 3 года назад
Hi Diana! Not like shadow/illusion crochet...it is a little similar to Shallow single crochet, but instead of working into the stitch a row below like the shallow stitch, the Waistcoat is worked in between the sc "legs" of the previous row. I hope this makes sense!

*Can you tell me what brand & model hook you’re using in this video?* I use only _inline_ hooks, but most of the newer (comfort grip) hooks that claim to be inline, are kind of _hybrids_ of inline and tapered. In other words, the *hook* itself is inline, but the necks are often a little tapered, which I don’t like. But the one you’re using looks perfect. Inline hook with zero tapering at the neck. I’ve looked at different brands, but I haven’t seen one that checks all the boxes like this one in your video. Please do tell. 🙏🏻 😊

Hi, Im sorry, but this is not working out for me. If I add an extra regular single crochet at the ends, the way you do in your video, Im basically increasing the length with 2 extra stiches each line.
@HeartHookHome
@HeartHookHome 2 года назад
Hi! You are not "adding" sc's, but doing a single crochet in the 1st and last sts instead of the waistcoat....so there is no increase happening.
