@thereluctantoutdoorsman In today's video Paddy the cockapoo and I continue down gorgeous country lanes to Fliquet Bay where we first come across Fliquet Castle and then Fliquet Tower! We continue on and take a footpath which ends just before St. Catherine's Breakwater. The weather is beautiful and the scenery fantastic. Come with us on our virtual hike.

Another beautiful walk, Tom! I found online that Fliquet Castle was built by a Marshall Doran, in the 50s/60s I think? So makes sense that it is a private residence rather than a historical building😊

Hi Tom what a lovely day for a walk 👌👌a better walk for those legs of yours all downhill 😀.Only ever visited the St.Catherines Breakwater once and stopped for a snack and drink at the cafe there ,tide being in and a sunny day it was well worth the visit . I believe the Tower was originally called Telegraph Tower as a cable from France would end up there . Still no sign of the two cyclists 😁😁

Hi Lloyd.......search parties are still combing the island, but all they've found so far is two berets and a baguette! 🥖😁😁😁

I have to say, I love the French and indeed France! Obviously this is just good natured banter which I'm sure Stephan and Olivier would also have a laugh at! We are really laughing at me (a complete and utter bumbling fool) ........not them! 😁

I think it’s someone’s private residence Tom, I have also been on line and there is no information on it at all. I see there are new houses being built all over the Island and yes there is still lots of money on the Island. You might have seen on tv and on social media that there are protests in different parts of Spain. People are fed up with mass tourism because it’s pricing them out of the property market and greedy locals are renting their homes out in high season to make a fortune. It’s all putting much pressure on local resources and all they want is a fair deal. It made me think of Jersey an Island with the haves and nots and how hard it is for many people to get on the property ladder It made me think how lucky we were when we bought our first home. I have said this before that I have enjoyed this walk really lovely. The many times we had a cream tea at St Catherine’s cafe in the past and will be back there on our visit next year. Cheers Tom and Paddy

Hi Nick, yes I've seen some videos about the issues in some parts of Spain and you are also right about the difficulty young people have getting on the property market in Jersey. I take my hat off to Callum and Jess who came over from Middlesbrough two years ago, rented for a year (not cheap!) and who now have bought. The house prices are much higher here but their wages are also much higher and I doubt they will ever go back to the UK now! I'm so glad you enjoyed the walk and I have to say I love a cream tea.......which is just as well, because I'm eating the leftovers from the one we had yesterday! Mmmh! 🍰🫖☕

Hi Brian, that is really interesting to know! I didn't watch much of Bergerac at the time, but I suppose I should probably try and view some of it now.....it might appeal to me more! A new series of Bergerac is being made and that should be worth a watch when it comes out! Thanks for the information Brian and for your support of my channel! 👍🏻
