The movie this song went to, is probably one of the very few good memories I have with staying at my grandma's house (on my dad's side) during Christmas. As a child this movie was one of my top favorites and this song was always perfect for it. Thank you
That was fantastic. I am convinced that most vocalist sound best when harmonize with themselves. This was so nice. I wish I had some recording of when I was younger to compare. All of it was lost.
This is probably my favorite song of all time. It gives me goosebumps and makes my voice catch every time I hear it. It's amazing to hear Aled singing with what he recorded as a child.
Like a musically gifted time-traveler, Aled Jones masterfully harmonizes with his youthful persona to REcreate the 'Snowman' classic tune once again! A beautiful duet, giving fresh, spiritual energy to an already beloved Christmastime melody!
I LOVE this mas, loved him as a boy and now as a man. Beautiful voice, beautiful face, beautiful man. Pitty we dont see him as much these days. Merry Christmas everyone. xxx
Too beautiful for words. I always felt that the relationship between the boy and the Snowman was a metaphor for the imagination; the bond between the self and the mind. Stumbling upon this video -- a duet between the same person, walking in the air together -- overwhelmed me.
I feel like crying... I could tell, when he was singing that again with his younger self, he remembered every single fabulous moment he sang Walking In The Air when he was a teen.... I bet he wished he could sing like that again and you could tell he was bursting with pride, joy and that he was waiting all those years to sing that song again. I think he even remembered the lyrics from all those years ago. It was beautiful xoxo
Peter Auty was uncredited for his ORIGNAL recording of this song in ‘82 when The Snowman first aired. Aled covered it for an ‘85 rerelease of the film and took credit for Peter’s work and ran with it for his own claim to fame. Peter Auty will always be the original and the best.
This video makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up, it's absolutely fantastic. One person with two of the greatest voices, I wish there were more of his songs like this. On another tack, has anyone got a copy of young Aled singing Ave Maria?
I understand you, I had thought that for 12 years until recently, and it came as an unpleasant chock for me.. but it didn't take long until I started to like the song even more because of that.. god bless Aled Jones!
this song really makes me cry ive been searcing 4 it everywere! and finally ive found it this song is really sad in a good way omg im crying right now lol :.D
This song is so beautiful. I went and saw Aled Jones live in a concert when he came here to Australia. He told the audience how he recorded this. Well done.
This gives me Goosebumps. The young Aled is gone from us forever, we will never hear him sing live again… Well OK he’s grown up into Aled as we know him today, but it still gives me a weird feeling.
I already have! I bought it last Christmas. But I wanted to watch it here and enjoy seeing them together. Only one channel works on here. All other you tube clips work fine, just this one.
This is stunning. Emotional and allwsys brings a tear the voices work so well I’m getting goose bumps Thankyou Aled young and now I played this thinking of mr Raymond Briggs Rest in peace sir ⛄️
Past meets present in beautiful synergy, who could possibly dislike this, these people must be oblivious to the magic that is The Snowman. Beautiful voice of adult Aled Jones as well
Also, I'd like to add that sometimes you experience such beauty that you ache and pain... Sometimes sorrow can be derived from the undefinable of the human experience; Such things can touch your soul that as you stand on the refuse of the idols of gods, that you wonder that those gods may have lived and willed. Music is the tears for the beauty of life that we have yet to understand but transcends us as animals. Music is the voice we might cry into the nothing though none are sure to hear. Songs such as this are the testament that we are not as stone or fire, but more and none the same.
Reminds me of an X reg Volvo 345 facelift model of late 1981 as this song was created at this time due to the cold winter of December 1981 and January 1982.
It was originally created for the cartoon The Snowman which was released in 1982.. Aled didnt sing it in the cartoon, Peter Auty was the original singer, but because his voice had broken, Aled was asked to sing it to promote a Toys R Us advert, and a single of it by Aled was released in 1985. It reached No2 in the UK charts in November 1985.
does anyone still watch the snowman at christmas and does it bring a tear to your eyes i all ways watch the snowman at christmas and it brings tears to my eyes now call me a big baby if you wish im 37 years old and still watches the snowman absolutely love it you might think well arnt you a little to big to be waching the snowman ?
I haven't heard Peter Auty sing this, but I found Aled [the baritone] dubbed over Aled [the treble], very enjoyable. He had [has] a fine voice at both stages of his career.
So true. It is quite the experience, isn't it? To simultaneously see and hear the boy as the man he was to be and the boy that he once was reaching to each other through time. Beautiful.
One of the loveliest versions of this song. And I should know. Ever since I was a child I searched for this song without knowing anything about it. Once I found the name of the short movie I went through all the versions out there until I hit the source. Until now I thought you couldn't beat the original... Glad to find I was wrong!
