Wandering Jew is the common name of a few different species: tradescantia zebrina, tradescantia fluminensis, and tradescantia pallida. All varieties of wandering jew plant care are similar, and quite easy.
You can even propagate tradescantia without much trouble at all, it will root in just a few days and you'll have an endless supply!

Maybe Yucca, i feel many would not know how hardy it is and kill it by over watering or giving it to little light, would not recommend a Yucca unless you have experience with it or a sunny place where no plant survives.

A trick for repotting difficult plants - take the plant out of the old pot, then use the old pot as a placeholder to pack soil around inside the new pot. Then carefully switch the old empty pot with the rootball.

You may be over or under watering it 🤔 Imo they're so easy to grow, you should give it another go! 🙂 I've got my tradescantias in an Eastern window (bright morning sun) I rotate them once every couple days or so & water only when the soil is dry all the way through because they tend to rot if the soil is too moist for long periods of time. Good luck to you! 🌿💚🌿

Bad soil? Not enough nutrients? Not enough light? Too dry? Try taking a bunch of cuttings like he did here. Fill a pot with new potting soil, and poke holes in the soil with a chopstick, pencil, or similar. Put a cutting in each hole and tamp the soil around it. It works best to put a lot of cuttings in a single pot. The just water it when the soil gets dry on top. When the cutting start to get longer, snip off the tips to force them to branch.

I never could grow it in the past because I treated it like my other plants. However, after I went to Iguazu Falls between Brazil and Argentina, I saw it growing wild everywhere, by waterfalls and along the sidewalk. Yes, it grew like weeds. I then realized it probably needed more humidity and sun than what I was giving it in the winter. I finally have two who made it through winter. Lots of misting. Now I know how to make them bushy. Wish me luck.

I don't think they like to get too cold, either. I always bring mine inside if there is a freeze warning. Usually that's only a day or 2 at a time. Not sure what I would do with it if it was really cold all winter, though. 🤔

It grows in complete shade on the north side of our house, even blooms. More sun though means more blooms and more purple instead of green. In the winter it turns to mush which can look pretty bad, but it always springs back even after last years big freeze here in central Texas. We have inland sea oats mixed in, another deep-shade tolerate self-propagating plant that is especially beautiful in the winter.

Thanks so much for this informative video. My mother recently passed away in a nursing facility. I had taken her a wandering Jew plant there, and it did well for quite a while. I've taken it back home since, and it's starting to die off. I suspect its rootbound, and maybe I watered it too much. I'm going to repot it ASAP with good quality soil, and maybe try to propagate a few trimmings in case the main plant doesn't make it. These are beautiful plants, but I want this one to live for sentimental reasons.

I put Zebrina around 5 terracotta pots of my Persian Shield as a spiller deco plant. Yes, the combination of this two looks soooo gorgeous! Both have purple hue that compliment each other. Both are hardy plants but.... as Zebrina an extremely fast-growing plants, they consume more spaces in those pots as time goes by. The roots, though so shallow (they are creeper/climber/hanger) tangle up with PS - it's hard to PS to compete for food with this vigorously plant! So what I separated them to allow PS have more room for roots. As Zebrina, as they were elongated about half metre in just 2 months, I put it in hanging container & few of them as ground cover. Still looks pretty awesome to my eyes. I'm from Malaysia.

The easiest way i have found for repotting is to place soil in bottom of larger pot, then place empty pot the same size as pot that plant is growing in. Then fill with soil and carefully remove the empty pot leaving a hole which is then the size of plant roots. Place in hole and add soil around as needed. Hope that's helpful

In addition to having this potted plant inside. I also have one which lives in an old glass bottle. I simply empty the water inside the glass bottle every 1-2 weeks. It sure brightens things up! I personally 💚 this easy to care for plant!

I have these hanging on my fence. Couple times a year l just get down on my knees and harvest all the little plantlets from the areas around the hanging pots. The wind and squirrels knock off little bits and they just take root. It's about the most painless plant propagating I've ever done!

My trick is to soak a plant really well BEFORE I transplant them. This makes the testing away of the roots easier and this gives them a really good start the new soil.

I’ve tried a few different things but the only ones that have survived are the ones that I planted in my disabled frog’s tank. The combination of frog poop, microfauna, UVB and LED lighting, and dirty frog water seems to do wonders. I tried the same thing with my other frogs but they are much less shy and will destroy everything in sight (including a snake plant). Sir Reginald sat his fat little frog butt on the zebrina till it eventually got smothered and died 😂

hi, kevin. i had one years ago when i was younger and i found one 6 months ago that i liked the appearance. it has tiny green leaves, a dwarf variety. and it's growing full speed under a grow light. A very easy growing habit. i think i'm gonna cut the growing tips to make it a bit denser. nice video. thanks, carmine.

But still green at the ends. I took them away and kept what still lively bits i could. First time with this one. Dunno what im doing🙃 thank you for sharing this video

Tradescantia species require absolutely no effort to grow here in Australia (especially in coastal gardens with high humidity). All you have to do is drop a stem or leaf on some soil and away it will go.

There's a very surprising and funny story of why I have this plant.. a couple of pigeons visit my balcony garden for water and twigs everyday, but make their nest right above my window, in our upstairs Neighbour balcony.. this dude zebrina was one day dropped and I decided to put it in water and it grew! God knows where they got this cutting from but it beautifies my room haha

My twin brother does the same thing with his aquarium at work. Depending on the plant, if a piece happens to fall off. . . into the aquarium it goes. Everyone has live plants in their offices where he works. Makes for a nice working environment.

I have 4 of these growing. Every year, in January, I make new pots from cuttings. Some of the new pots I will hang outside in the spring amd some stay inside. These are hard to kill. Any piece that hits the ground tends to grow. Winter kills them in my area ,Zone 6, but they do grow better outdoors.
