My thoughts exactly. He got what he deserved by being shot down by that same Spitfire within 30s of my demise. I really don't put my trust in random teammates in general, but for these kinds of quality baits I expect at least a crit. He was a ground pounder though, if I had checked the scoreboard before trusting him, I wouldn't have put my life in his hands.
Haha the guy caught on. He took a while to get into position for his 2nd pass, but that's fine. Problem is he'll rarely get an easier shot than these 2 opportunities, so it doesn't bode well for him.

It's called the "local host". How to access the "local host": You need to be running War Thunder or it won't work! Option 1: on the same computer that is running WT: -Type localhost:8111/ in the address bar and press enter and voila. Option 2 (which also works on the computer that runs WT): -Type Your_IP_Address:8111/ where you replace "Your_IP_Address" by your IP Address (192.168.X.XXX) in the address bar and press enter and voila, you can look at the characteristics on another device while flying. Unfortunately my only paid premium is the German Tempest. I know the Yak3 VK is a beast though.
Awesome fight! Yesterday I also made 2 dogfights against the XIVc variant in my stock P-51H, and both ended in tragic way... although the 51H can turn and win with most things in its BR (even stock), just don't turn with Spits The 51H still needs the help from squad mates like other 51s, i think. Expecting it to be as competitive as Spits when alone is unrealistic. Also, I'm surprised to know 100% throttle is better than WEP at low speed, thanks for your work, mate!
In general yeah you shouldn't dogfight with Spitfires, but if you know what you are doing you can kill an average pilot, and if you have a teammate nearby you can last long enough to bait for your teammate. My pleasure, and thank you!
The fact is IRL, Mustang stands no chance against the Spitfire. All american pilots who flew both of them said that the Spitfire was better by far on all points except range than Mustang.
@@AdamTheEnginerd the D version was contemporary to the MkIX and MkXIV which outclasses FW190 and Bf109G. German pilots feared the Spitfire above all other western allied planes, the other plane is Yak 3 on eastern front.

You did well scrapping in a P51 against a Spitfire like that. P51'S are tough but are not strong against Spits in this type of arena Now KI's and F4's are a real tricky challenge for Spits.
I have had potato aim before on a run on a baited enemy but I tend to not miss twice. Normally its my brain farting my lead distance for the guns or not realizing my distance from the target. Tend to get it right on my second pass. Also the only time I ground pound is when there is literally nothing else to do, such as someone being 20+ kilometers away and climbing to space. Had a similar fight though in my hellcat against a C205 Serie 3. Managed to win that one though. Hellcat isn't as good climbing wise vs the C205 but I managed to keep us going down to get my speed up so eventually I leveled out earlier like you did at the later point of this fight but was able to maneuver as he came down and was too late to pull out of it quickly enough, allowing me to get on his tail and get him. Unfortunately that battle was a loss and I did not feel like going up against a couple 109s, p47 and something british by myself in a Hellcat. I am not that good of a pilot and I was not trying to feed them a kill, after already being butchered enough in the thing. Also have you made an up to date video on the F6F-5? I'm starting to come to grips with it and it is the American aircraft I am most comfortable in so far, but I would love some pointers on how to fly it better, and maybe a few tricks I might be able to use against Bf 109s especially, cause those G-2s and F-4s be messing me up a lot. Of course it can handle japanese aircraft, but I rarely face those... Well zeros anyway, not really the J2Ms, A7Ms, and Ki-61s which are just as if not more capable if I'm to be honest. They seem to be anyway but that's just me.
No video on the F6F yet, it's on my list! There are much better US aircraft at a similar BR though. You outturn Bf109s F4+, and a small speed advantage too. But the climb difference is big.
@@AdamTheEnginerd what other aircraft would you suggest I try? I just want to like American planes because I've built models of plenty of them. I just feel like they get shafted a little. I was thinking of the P47 but I'm still unsure. I do have the F4U-1D but I have had numerous issues because of its rudder and not quite being able to get on target unlike the Hellcat which seems to have better rudder response at speed.

Damn, one of my friends bought the Spitfire Mk 14c. Idk if it's worth buying for that much... Even J2M3's or Ki-83's outclimb it. Not sure about Ki-84-Hei's though.. Also what is the difference between all Ki-84 types? IKR that the Hei has a gear switch at 3000m.
There was this time I was in a 2v1, 2 bf109s vs some fighter I cant remember. He was behind me and I had engine damage. I figured I could have tried to run to base, but my teammate was just shooting AI planes, so I brought the enemy fighter right to him hoping he would react but nope, I flew a loop around my teammate as the last surviving enemy was chasing me and finished me off, then killed him unceremoniously fast
Technically reducing throttle always increases prop efficiency, it's just that for some planes (109s), the lowering the power increases efficiency enough to compensate the loss in power in the thrust result.

Haha j'aurais du considérant ce qui s'est passé par la suite, mais j'avais un allié proche et... ouais. L'astuce avec WEP ça fonctionne juste sur certains avions en passant, bien moins que la majorité. Je ne les ai pas utilisé afin de ralentir le pointage de mon nez vers le sol et donc ralentir mon gain de vitesse. Je les ai utilise quelques secondes plus tard, peut-être que j'aurais du les utiliser un peu plus tôt.

Par exemple j'ai fais un combat épique avec une série de ciseaux contre un simple P-47D-25 avec mon FW 190 D-12 il y a pas longtemps et je m'attendais pas à ce qu'il me donne autant de mal. J'ai réussit à remporter le combat mais en revoyant l'affrontement en replay je me suis rendu compte que si j'avais utilisé mes volets plus tôt j'aurais sans doute gagné le combat 3 minutes plus tôt :P J'ose pas imaginer ce qu'il se serait passé s'il avait été en D-28 ^^
C'est pas facile battre un P47 sans volets, mais avec volet le FW ne devrait pas avoir de misère à l'emporter. Si le D28 t'apporte à basse vitesse dans le vertical et que tu n'as pas le tir, alors ouais ça peut aller mal mdr.
I like your videos and I also caught on to how %100 throttle is actually better at lower speeds than WEP but in the gamemode I play it's after going a certain altitude. I was wondering though. Is this weird quirk accurate, and also -- sorry to ask -- how much does that throttle difference compare in Arcade. I usually have trouble playing realistic due to vision issues. So I was wondering how much of a difference in Performance the P-51H would make in Arcade seeing as there is NO videos about the P-51H in arcade. I've been having these issues: Lack of control: I don't mean the plane isn't responsive. But I just don't get that feeling of control I get when flying the F8F-1b. Most of the time when I fly the F8F-1b I get the feeling of power and I can handle myself. Yet the P-51H I always feel weak and having to fly the defensive Engine Performance: For some reason, this plane in Arcade just eats dust above 5000 meters. I can barely reach 6k and 7k but I'd be going 170 km/h and be having, somehow, Yaks able to outspeed me at higher altitudes. That's not discounting I don't know what angle to climb since once the airspeed goes below 250. I just lose all power and eat dirt. I dunno if you'll take the time to answer, but I would appreciate your help.
Thanks! As far as I know, and I know a decent amount, this quirk shouldn't exist. Prop thrust is highest at lower speeds. You're asking if this quirk applies to Arcade too? I would assume so, Arcade has about 50% more engine power/thrust when compared to RB. I highly recommend playing RB, visibility isn't an issue when the names of the enemies pop up quite a distance away. Lack of control: US aircraft and P51s in general are quite odd to fly, you need to get used to the roll and elevators to prevent wobbling. F8F by comparison is much more stable, so I think that's normal. P51H is the fastest prop aircraft in game, and 6km is its best altitude for speed. As you gain altitude, your climb angle needs to be reduced. If you're using IAS, you need to climb at a constant speed (about 270km/h). At around 6 km you shouldn't be much higher than 10 degrees above the horizon. Also, if you use Manual Engine Controls, don't forget to switch supercharger gears.
Try climbing at a higher speed. I'd be surprised if it's actually the case, since it's more work for them to change performance based on if it's RB/SB or Arcade.
This is the biggest downside of WT. Those baits were SO perfect. The spit was slow, and that dude missed both times. I can't tell you how many times I've given people the easiest shot in the world and watch them not even hit the bastard...Good flying though on your part.
Last time I played American planes, my team had only 4 fighters left, (myself included), 3 of which were down on the airfield rearming because they were stupid enough to go after the same plane. I was getting swarmed by 2 Bf-109s and 3 Fw-190s. I used my teammates as live bait, dragged the enemies to my airfield and let them clean out my team while I picked them off. Good news is, we won thanks to me. XD
Applies to high power planes with relatively small propellers, so Bf109s are also like this but worse. Reason is the prop isn't big enough to handle the power at that low speed, and hence "stalls" to keep RPM from passing its maximum, reducing thrust.
If you weren't only using mouse aim you would have probably had him. For some reason the plane doesn't always go exactly where you want it to on mouse aim only.
Adam514 Yes, but if you were using elevator control you could make more efficient maneuvers, faster. You can also use your mouse to keep track of enemies behind you while making accurate maneuvers.
Generally it doesn't reduce thrust, but it's complicated. Aircraft with high power and small props (Bf109s, Spitfire LF Mk IX) will lose thrust at low speed on WEP, but that doesn't mean 100% will produce more thrust because there's a big power difference between WEP and 100%.
@@AdamTheEnginerd Ok that does sound complicated haha, so basically i'm wondering, since i play 109's mostly, (G2 the most) should i use WEP when doing stall manouvers and energy traps when going under 250kph? And does the same prop pitch trick that increases thrust in a stall work (referring to the one you did on the G14 AS video) on the earler BF's like the F4 and G2? Thanks.
@@lAmLordeYaYa WEP won't change much on F4 and G2, so might as well not WEP and cool your engine while at low speed. Also, the prop pitch trick gives the most benefit for higher power Bf109s (G6 and up), not worth doing on lower Bf109s.
@@AdamTheEnginerd Thanks, your the best for answering, i noticed the prop pitch airbrake does work for the G2 and F4, but you need to do it at lower speeds only or else you cook the engine, i've been using hte prop pitch trick for take offs in my G2, but dunno if it's rlly making a difference, i've tried it in stall manouvers too, can't really say it has helpted too much, its great on the g14 tho! like you said, thanks again man. Edit: Prop pitch trick actually works on take off on th G2!

Adam514 also I feel like it was a weird approach for your teammate, I try to get a kilometer and a half and then go straight so my teammate has a straight shot... then if the enemy turns off my 6 I’ll turn on to him...
Salut joli dogfight ! Dommage pour la fin mais je pense que ton allié est plus à blâmer que toi... Étant donné que je joue en IAS et pas en vitesse sol je n'ai pas trop de repère mais je pense qu'à 2:57 tu n'aurais pas dû sortir tes pleins volets pour cette manoeuvre... J'aurais plutôt tenté un "looping" en volets combat histoire de garder un max de vitesse tout en gagnant en surface pour l'aile, en plus tu avais une petite avance sur le spit, ce petit laps de temps aurait pu permettre à ton allié d'avoir un angle parfait ( même si il n'était pas doué...). Même si la manoeuvre que je te propose est risquée je pense qu'elle aurait fonctionné. En plus même si le spit n'a pas le meilleur Roll rate, il perd moins d'énergie qu'un p51h en combat en ciseaux je pense. Enfin bref bien joué quand même !
Merci! IAS et SPD sont égaux à très basse altitude, et en haut à gauche il y a aussi IAS. À 2:57 le Spitfire était quand même proche d'avoir un tir éventuellement, c'est lui qui avait l'avantage en position selon moi. Le Spitfire perd plus d'énergie en tournant, c'est aussi ça qui l'aide à aller derrière moi.
I know it's easy to be a backseat driver here but I think you could have had him if you took him into a spiral climb on that second pass... I haven't flown the H yet though, so idk.
You went vertical into a stall climb. Spiral climbs are more wings level, using the rudder and full elevator once you get slow. You won't stall but if they work to get guns on target they will have to burn far more energy and stall..... You will still have controllability to whip it back over and get them. Remember when you, Bob and I were messing around that day?
At 1:30, you could have achieved separation from the fight, climbed above the spit as it would inevitably look for other targets and then use the altitude advantage to dive on the spit or stallfight it, rather than turning around to turnfight a turnfighter with an energy fighter.
Adam514 lol every time I try save a team mate I always get there and get the kill as my team mate dies or is set on fire and eventually goes down I try my best to keep as many company as we climb but if they dive I rarely follow until I'm sure there's no visible threats high then I go down and take out guys harassing my team mates it even shames me to admit you and dogeness have asked for my help on one occasion many moons ago be a few months now but I was in a wyvern just grinding some lions I was doing abit of bombing pillboxes and rocketing them and taking shots at enemy aircraft if the opportunity came along and you were in your Tempest Mk V and doge was in an LF Mk IX but anyway you guys had both run out of ammo and we're trying to RTB to rearm but ending up being harassed by 2 190Ds only a few km from base and me being a pleb ground pounder was not paying attention to chat when you both asked me for help consequently you both scolded me for it I watch the reply and though shit that was a rookie mistake on my part
