Today we take a look at the S.O.8000 Narval, and we'll try to find out wether this plane is worth your money. We'll fly it out and see if it can perform in RB and AB, and after that i'll give you my opinion on the Narval.

I love the look of the Narval. From my experience flying the AD-4 at 5.7 I'd say the Narval pilots are beginning to figure out how to fly it. I'm seeing more people getting ace matches in it.

Such a nice fight with that 109 at the end of the RB section. Was eager to see you shoot it down and the match ended. The plane is beautiful. As always, a very enjoyable video. Awesome flying, so good that my coffee didn't spill while i had by breakfast in the back seat :)

First time I fought against this plane I noticed the rollrate was similar to my sabres. Chased it in 700kmph dives and noticed tht high speeds didn't cause the plane to lock up non at all. In essence, this is a jet tht uses a prop

Hey Jengar, just a couple of tips to make things more clear: Cruising speed is the speed at which the aircraft attains its best mile per gallon. It’s always at a lower throttle setting. So when you say “cruising speed at sea level” I think you really mean “top speed at sea level”. And when talking about the speed in a dive, that is max speed, not top speed :p. “Top speed” is usually used to refer to straight line speed at a certain altitude.

I was waiting for this one :) Thank you very much :) Actually it is not fast in horizontal, but still amazing plane. Also can do some pretty stunts at low altitude if it has energy even outperforming bf-109 actually. But at first I thought it is sluggish and more like Me-410... :)

That's funny... when I first saw this plane I thought for sure it was a jet, there have been a few jets (mostly British) that were similarly designed. But something really struck me about the design of the front of this plane. I did a search and found the plane that the front of the Narval, it's the Vought F7U Cutlass. I think someone copied from someone else!

Good review, and spot on how it's to be played. But I also like to play it like a ground attacker, similar to a DO335. Strike fast with bombs/rockets and get out, but if no one is around, well you do have some cannons :)

From what I can gather that is quite true. I do love Pallier's D 510, it's just a hell of a bit jump to the Yak 3 at a 4.0 BR. There needs to be something between 1.3 and 4.0 IMHO

On climbing: at least in arcade, IMO, its best climb is at about 320-350 IAS at low angle.

It's mighty slow at low-altitude but it can do a ton of damage in Ground RB and has an excellent lineup.

I love taking this plane in RB and taking out a base, then by the time i get back into the fight everyone is low or distracted and i can boom and zoom 2-3 kills at least

Just a little hint. A high tier premium plane like the D-13, always comes fully spaded if purchased.

the D-13 can go above 610km/h in a straight line, im pretty sure it is faster than the Narval

Might be a fantastic premium to have, but to be honest, I have no intention of getting this one. Still, nice to have unique planes for the French tree!

The second plane I just took advantage of that 50% sale. I do not understand however, if it is an allied plane, why Gaijin gave it German guns and mine shells for ammo. That does not seem appropriate.

p-47M i would say, unless you're unlocking the french tree, then the p-47m will do nothing for you!

That last 109K-4 was me. Would have gotten you if I still had my flaps in that scissors. And as I told you in the game, I was flying a stock plane, which is the reason I couldn't catch up to you. Say, am I by any means the winner of that gaijin code? didnt know where to find the announcement

the announcement was in the a-35 vid ;) moira kadhan won ;) I feel i had the upper hand dogeness ;) but i function more on instinct then on scientific proof. perhaps in that way im more like Hans-joachim Marsaille then Erick Hartmann. although i can fly in both styles.

Maybe i'm an anomaly here in that I don't play any video games, and I 'm just here to see interesting planes "flown" by people who know what they are doing. I'm interested to know what people think about the fact vs video game reality. This plane for example, was only flown a few times, and pilots had all kinds of complaints about its performance and handling. Yet in War Thunder it does not appear to have any issues. Do the makers of the video games have all aircraft that were never flown in combat perform as their "real" designers intended?

i think thei take the data sheets with them, but they also have to balance things out at least a little bit. Otherwise no one would really fly a plane that in reality was broken and dangerous.

One thing to consider is : this plane in War Thunder is a premium vehicle. Meaning you have to pay real money for it, unlike normal aircrafts that you just research. Or course they're gonna buff premium vehicles otherwise they won't sell any. Also, some aspects are not modeled in this game (reliability), and others like handling are impossible to portray accurately unless you've actually flown the plane I guess (?)

Thanks :D I am doing this job which will pay enuff to buy 1 bundle, im confused which bundle to get. I like planes that can basically do what a Bf 109 can do (I love those and their playstyle). Narval looks unique as well, good choice for my first bundle purchase

This is a post WWII plane...it is exploiting captured German tech. IMO, the MG151 setup is more robust.

you're wrong ;) i build this account by myself from scratch just like everyone else. Pressaccounts are a thing of the past, some ppl had them, but as far as i know they were cancelled. there is the partnership program though, of which we as participators can request things now and then. The bigger you are the more you can request!

you'll never like it with this kind of resistance ;) sideclimb until you're sure your highest and then fly it like a thunderjet. Then come back to me! if you do it right it'll perform.

I will try again, i played today, couldnt even get a kill, i understand fully that all planes work differently however it just doesn't sit right with me, even taking off without damaging the rear is a nightmare!

When taking off, don't even pull up. Get to speed on the ground then use flaps...the plane will rotate upward gently, without striking the tail. Then retract flaps and climb. I recently had a 8-0 match in the S.O.8000 (in arcade...I'm only just now getting comfortable with RB but I don't fly high rank planes in RB). I boomed the crap out of people in it...if you fly it right, it's untouchable, IMO. The key is to climb and gain lots of altitude, then work enemies from the top on down.
