I’m not aware of any research that suggests timing is of particular concern. Patients are usually just encouraged to be consistent with when they take it each day.

I just find it so hard to make final decisions especially that i am an intern. im doing my case study on head and neck cancer and this patient has h/o dysphagia and has been 0-25% since one month and moderate malnutrition as he has irritation when swallowing. SLP said he has the choice to eat or drink but isn't at risk for aspiration. so i recommended boosts and ensures but what screws me up is when to finally decide he actually needs to go onto enteral. does that make sense?
