It's the weakest vintage of football I've seen. There are very few players that could compete with the best players of most previous decades, such as the 00s.
Sry to disappoint but England followed by France and Italy were the main culprits of playing s**t football. Do not tarnish the rest of the nations just because England didn't win it. Sour grapes.
Agreed, this definitely not a vintage euros in terms of quality for all. France, england, Italy all underperformed and that 3 of the bigger more unusually fancied teams. England had it in them, every time they played forward thinking football they looked good, but every time the scored they shat themselves and sat back 10 behind the ball, so we only saw that forward thinking for a small fraction of the games. This is a management and captain issue
To be fair though, all the lower ranked teams were probably better in quality, making it harder for the higher ranked teams. From a non big team perspective, the quality of football was great in this tournament. Stop looking at the game through the lens of a few big teams.
England need to try win a nations league first to get some confidence. That is what this Spain team did by first winning the nations league followed by the euros and are favorites for the next World Cup

You have a stud who's up for the Ballin D'Or, best player in 2 different leagues and bailed England out of 2 games with a game saving goal and then assisted Palmer to equalize in Euro Finals. Oh, and all at 20 years old. This mentality is why England loses. Support the real studs like Jude, Saka & Palmer who will bail you out.
Southgate out. Ben White rejecting the squad tells its own story and everyone can see now, if they couldn't before. Southgates boys club needs to end. Bring in a worldclass manager who picks players based on form and fitting the system, not southgate picking his favourites who don't deserve to be playing based on form.
Haven't evolved under Southgate. Still walking the ball about, and subs thst constantly played well were only ever kept as subs. Kane clearly injured but played ahead of others. That showd you've no trust in your other forwards.
It's a little ironic that England have played more average than before Southgate yet have progressed further than ever since 1966. People say draws were easier but that was partly because they won their groups which they rarely did before. I'm not saying to continue playing ugly, but it's just an observation

Safegate plays top defensive. His reasoning about not playing trent at right back and experimenting playing him in midfield, cos hes too good to leave out doesnt make sense when you look at the final, walker was at fault for both spanish goals. Saying that with kane playing trent has no one to pass too anyways
I never viewed England as favourites and it wasn't because I viewed other teams as better, it was because I believed Southgate tactically inept and yes may create a lovely atmosphere amongst the players... but, he can't get the best out of the players as he's no idea how to attack or get on the front foot because he's a defender 🤷♂️

Simon Jordan, Mark Goldbridge et al, really need to stop saying we will win the Euros (as they did, or the next tournament for that matter) because it really sets people up for disappointment. Spain were the best team, a sum greater than the parts coached by a good tactician. England were a poor team of good individuals coached by a nice but average manager.
What Lescott should have said was the UCL teams play and train with each other week in week out hence the chemistry is better. In this Euros Gareth didn't know how to fit in Foden and Bellingham the entire tournament.
We never be favourites, until we have a playmaker that can dictate and control play. I am hoping Mainoo, Wharton and/or Gray turn into that elite press resistant 6, so we can push Rice into the 8 with Bellingham.
