You guys truly changed the game for me. Washing my hair weekly has completely transformed my wash n go's. I could never do them before but now I can :)
Hello, I am so excited about this hair challenge. I am 63 years old and have some thinning in the top and crown areas. My hair is long on the sides and back. I just want to give the challenge a try to see if it helps my top and crown areas. I changed my diet. I have a hormone imbalance too much testosterone. Hopefully I see some improvement. 🙂 I forgot to say I don't wear my hair in wash and go's or twist outs I only wear two strand twists.
I enjoyed your video. I do not have tight curls, but you have given me hope that I'm on the right track. I use the process you've described for my loose-curl natural hair. I wash and condition every 5 to 7 days, then apply 2 gels, usually Uncle Funky's Daughter Curl Stimulator, then a second gel for hold. This is the process I came up with through trial and error about 6 months ago. At first, my new routine was a struggle for my hair, but it changed the game for me as it adapted. Everyone out there - good luck and have fun! Our curls want us the figure it out, I'm certain of it. 🤩 Thanks for a great video. I will be watching them all!
Thank you for this challenge and I am subbed on your Spotify's Curl Disrupted podcast! I am glad you are discussing clarifying shampoos. I had a bad experience with a micellar shampoo in 2020 and had some bad tangles that took about 16 months to work on, since I didn't followup with a moisturizing shampoo as I should have.
Thank you for the video. I did the big chop 2 months ago. I normally were my hair out and curly, but today I slicked it back into a ponytail with eco gel. Will that cause a lot if damage to where for maybe 2 days?
I would like to participate in this hair challenge. I'm 64 years young, my hair is shoulder length and is falling out, I have subscribed however, not able to access the free download.
Idk, i just dont believe only rinse out conditioner is enough to close the cuticle/ keep moisture in the hair. It may be for straight hair, but a 2nd conditioning step(that's left in the hair) is needed for kinky hair. Hell, even curly and wavy hair or straight hair that is chemically processed. Be it leavein conditioner or oil, you need it to aid the rinse out conditioner. Rinse out conditioner starts the process of moisture, or replenishing what was lost. Leave conditioner/ oil finishes it. You probably dont need both oil and leave in though. Leave in conditioner in its purest form is simply a conditioner you leave in, some leave conditioners(usually cream form) have mild hold, others do not(usually liquid).
Rinse out conditioner leaves behind humectants, emollients and lipids while also simultaneously smoothing down the cuticle to lock in the water absorbed by the hair during the cleansing step. This is something that you can most certainly look up in cosmetology textbooks. Leave-in conditioner is a low hold to no hold styler that aids in the setting and styling step.
@BlackGirlCurls rinse out conditioner does that of course, not disputing it. However, its use alone works for wavy hair and straight hair, maybe. For kinky/curly hair, I think we need more than just that to adequately protect and retain the moisture(moisturize) in the hair. That could be spray or cream leave in conditioner (though cream will probably give more build up esp for fine hair) or even straight up oil. Again either oil or leave in; it's probably not necessarily to do both since they are both technically conditioning/coat the hair and a combo will probably lead to alot of build up. I think it's important to remember that while hair is technically hair, there are some differences in the overall structure of more kinky hair(literally more disulfide bonds and textural irregularities). Those cosmatology books were made with a particular hair type in mind...
@@iateyursandwiches we definitely understand the nuisance and find it incredibly challenging to get into all of it in such a short video. We have created resources that go beyond surface. We also send a very rich email that shares more tips and tricks as well. We do hope that you join. The link can be found below the vid.
I agree. Conditioner is good- but I add a leave in conditioner because it has additional humectants and lipids in a high quality one. Sometimes I also just use a water and aloe base leave-in mist instead as my leavein conditioner because it’s packed with vitamins and humectants and other beneficial ingredients for my scalp, as well as beneficial ingredients for my strands. I reapply that each day when I do a twist out.
I’ve been following this method for about a year now and have had to tweak some of the products (I’m allergic to the fragrance in AG hair) but I’m always I love with my hair right after. My only issue is no matter what gels I put (I live in South Florida so I use the trespasses bamboo ginseng), my curls especially my roots never last. It’s always quick to get frizzy and get big clumps of curls. I use a bonnet to sleep but is there a better way to put up my hair at bedtime? I have tight, thin ish, course curls if that helps
Im struggling a little. I clarified my hair. Then deep conditioned. Then twisted it up with no product. It was frizzy and dried out after a couple days. I wasn’t sure if i could use a styler as part of the challenge.
Yes, you should use a styler to style (twist} your hair. If you have your digital download it suggests the type of styler to use for the style you choose.
Yes you have to use a styler with some hold or the outside or inside humidity is going to swell up (frizz out) your hair strands. Something with hold will take the frizz. But yes styler suggestions are in the free digital download talked about in this video❤.
