So glad I found this! You just saved me from subscribing to the platinum membership! Thank you. I hope others who are thinking of joining find this first
Thank you for this review! Honestly, as someone who actually likes and knows about watches, this frustrates me so much. The entire business model of this company is basically shipping overpriced Chinese watches to people who cannot tell cheap from high quality watches...
One wonders why no one has sued them for faults of advertising as their website say's you will receive Japanese and Swiss made watches , yet all the watches people show in their videos are Chinese MVTs
Thank you so much! Came across one of their ads (I am just getting into watches), I thought this looked great. Though I wanted to see reviews first, but most of what I came across were "paid" advertisers with discount code, which meant to me not honest. Thank you so much I am just going to take your advise on buying watches I want. Much appreciated!
Truth. I had a 6-month, 2-watch Black Tier subscription. I filled out the preference profile a couple times for chronographs. I ended up getting two 3-hand very bland watches. One was Earnshaw and the other Melbourne Watch Co. To be fair, they're both automatics; Earnshaw has a nice sculpted mesh band; Melbourne has NH35 movement with which I swapped out the dial for a Laco homage. But they're not what I wanted.Standard Response from WG was, "You joined a mystery club, you accept what we give you." When I asked what use the profile was for, I got silence. Good watch tips from you, thanks.
I only tell my experience and discoveries! Seems to be a common theme with everyone. Maybe not the bad experiences with their customer service but anyone who asked questions and/or spoke out got banned by them, they actively lie to have your reviews removed and their quality/tactics are shady as hell!
A lot of the watches they send (EVEN FOR THE PLATINUM MEMBERS) are from brands that I never heard of and brands that aren't even well known and the watches themselves don't look like they're worth half the price.
I was ready to enter my credit card info on WG, excited about getting badass watches.. until something told me to watch review videos. You just saved me.
Appreciate the candid review. If something looks too good to be true, it most likely is. I’d briefly pondered WG, but I’d rather search eBay, FB, etc. to find what I’m looking for.
Thanks for the info. Was really thinking about subscribing to watch gang. But I think i would rather do the research and buy the watches I want myself. Thanks again.
Great video man. You know how they say: "if it's too good to be true, it probably isn't". If you're willing to spend some time researching, you find great affordable watches from respectable brands like Timex, Citizen, Bulova, Seiko (Orient, Lorus, Pulsar), Casio, Wenger, Swatch and even Tissot. Even Stuhrling and Invicta are great for the budget. Plus you can decide on the size of the watch (nothing looks sillier like a 46mm on a small wrist). You saved many people a lot of money and gratitude and respect is in order, sir. Best regards!
love my orient watches, i have 3 and when you pull out the stem to set the time they feel tight. in cheeper made watches you can sometimes feel the slop. love orient.
Thanks very much for this video Brandon. I always do a bit of research before I buy something or subscribe to anything, so glad I found your page and honest review. Seeing watchgang site I thought it was a cool idea and I was nearly pulled in with their promise of a better watch than what I would pay for, but looking at the watches on the site there wasn't any I really wanted beside the really high end rolex and tag or omegas. You just saved me some money and now I will just buy the citizen and sieko watches I been after for a while from another reputable site. Thanks once again, have a good day :)
Omg...he totally turned me onto you now....just about to look you up...haha...the piece he shows of yours is outstanding.... ;) ....as a woman whose a fan of mens pieces....now im curious as to if you also do womens pieces....not a fan of womens particularly...but if you do work on womens pieces...i just may become one of your biggest collectors...lol....in any sense im now going to be checking you out because of his good word.... ;)
@@doinitbosstrustandbelieve2496 I do!! Not very often but essentially I can do the same things but with a smaller case that has smaller lugs. With that, you can't use as aggressive as a bezel as some will cover the crown a bit too much. But reach out and maybe we can get something going :) facebook.com/brianvanwaycollection/
@@brianvanway ....i most definetly will!!!....my birthday is in september...i think ill be treating myself to one of your creations... :) .....thankyou for responding...looking forward to what we can come up with...EXCITED...lol...youll be hearing from me very soon....like within 24 hours...lol...stay safe... ;)
Finally! A review of WG that I feel is truthful. Thank you. You've saved me from wasting even more money on WG. I've only been collecting watches for a couple of months now. In that time, I made the mistake of joining Watch Gang and subscribed to the Black Tier. I thought why not, I might get something cool. The two watches I have received so far are a huge disappointment, chiefly because they are brands I've never heard of nor can find info about them other than they are made in china. Also, I looked up what they are selling for in real life (not the wildly overblown msrp's) and have come to the realization that neither watch is worth anywhere near the $150 price per month I paid for the subscription service. I'm going to cancel my membership later today. I feel WG is indeed a scam. Yes, they do have some brands that are actually good, but there is lot of crap mixed in too. My modest collection (5 so far, not counting the WG junk) contains a Bulova, Seiko, a couple of Tissot's, and a Mathey-Tissot. Those I researched and got because I really like them and are from respectable brands. I find it much more rewarding to search/discover cool watches on my own now than leave it up to some service to send me some crap from china. The WG stuff is great for people who don't care about quality, know much about watches and prefer the thrill of gambling rather than having quality pieces in their collection. I spent $300 on WG and I could have put that money towards something I actually wanted. Glad I didn't spend more. Thanks again for your review.
Nicely done, thanks for your honest opinion. The better alternatives in different price ranges are also super helpful for people just getting into watches.
I'm glad I watched this video you saved me a shit load of money and your style is what I'm into as well.. I like the old wind up Timex watches just because my grandpa wore one and a few Bulovas
I was with Watch Gang Black Tier for two months but all I was getting were quartz watches so I quit before they could send me anther one. At about this time I decided to send my two Seiko watches to the repair centre for a overhaul. Seiko Canada did an awesome job and they look like new. Cost less than a 3 month subscription to WG and I have two mechanical movement watches that should last me years.
What a great and honest review 👏, I was thinking about signing up, all the guys on RU-vid are not very honest and must be getting good watches for there positive reviews. Keep up the good work.
I came very close to pulling the trigger and sign up to them, something kept nagging at me to wait... I knew it wasn't what it's hyped up to be... Thanks for the confirmation of my decision to hold off. I hope this helps others to stay away as well.
I was literally just about to subscribe to WG, but thought I should look up reviews first. Saw some good ones and was about to go through with it until my curiosity made me click on this video. Needless to say I will not be doing it now. Thanks👍🏻
I just subscribed to the black tier membership but i found a coupon code for $50 off my first box so after taxes and shipping I’m only spending about $60. I’ll more than likely end up canceling after my first box but figured I’d give it a shot 🤷🏼♂️
I thanks for video man, I think you just saved me alot of money was about to sign up with watchgang. I was saying from the beginning that it was too good to be true everything was too perfect with them saw no bad reviews
Honestly, I appreciate this video cos I've gotten some really nice ideas for building my watch collection which will of course be watches I can see and like. Rather than using a subscription service that delivers a mystery watch that there's a good chance I won't like. I've used WG and got a pretty decent watch. But after seeing reviews of the various watches people got from their continuous subscriptions, and knowing how WG repeats watches, I will end up with watches I won't like. I've seen numerous videos of people receiving the same decent watch I got. I definitely don't want to end up getting the unsatisfactory watches they got, or worse still, end up getting a faulty watch.
Man, I really appreciate that you came forward and did a video... but honestly, just by seeing the Instagram Watches... the piles of dog shit, I wouldnt even need to sign-up to figure this out... but hey, better late than never.
Thank goodness I came across your video. Long story short I subscribed last night then I realized that I had to research and sure enough you explained your experience and then today I had a hard time trying to reach for cancellation and of course no one to be reached , I emailed several times till I got so pissed that I froze my account and my debit card I also sent them a very nasty email saying that I wasn’t interested in their practices and I froze my account no money for them ! So sure enough they emailed me back saying not be worried that my subscription was canceled 😁🖕🏻. Not my money not on this one ☝️...
I have a small collection that consists of Citizen and Invicta. I was considering watch gang but after watching your video I decided not against it. Thank you for saving me the trouble and most importantly money. 🇺🇸
I laughed when I heard you bring up Croton. They used to be a Swiss company but went under and the rights were bought and they were resurrected into some garbage fashion brand. Some of their vintage chronographs are worth a decent amount of money, like $1500-$5000.
Not only did this video talk me out of joining, but I've linked at least 5 people to it when they asked about it. You're definitely costing them customers. ; )
Thought this was probably going on Glad l found your vid l almost drank the Kool-Aid I just recently grabbed an Aragon Regeneron SII nh36 day date Well made watch for about the price of One month membership Way better...The radium girls story was pretty wild l only first heard about them a few years ago .... That's awesome u got one of the watches the story lives on 👍👊
I agree with everything you said. WG is a complete scam. Thankfully I used Paypal and was able to get my money back from these theives. What a shame, I really liked the idea of getting a mystery watch every few months if it was actually decent quality. Not with WG though. The $20 watches on Aliexpress are better quality than WG I hope they get sued
Wow! I almost signed up. Thanks for the video. I have been buying orient, citizen, swatch for years was thinking of tying out the platinum tier do glad I caught this.
Thanks! I've been looking at reviews and researching it because it sounds too good to be true! Get bombarded with the advertising though... This is the video i needed to see! If you sold a beginner watch pack with your 3 starter watches, I'd buy them from you now for saving me the money on WG.
Im with you men if you heard the private labeling thats what their doing all the watches that watch gang are giving you can find it in alibaba maybe it cost them 30 bucks each for buying a bulk or like 500 pcs to customize and put name and logo like heritor, charles hutton even you can do that i was an amazon seller and iam doing a private labeling too by buying a bulk in alibaba and let them put my company name.
What about the platinum tier? (seriously considering until watching the video. thanks for the honest review) Do you know if people on the platinum tier have had the same experience?
Platinum tier is the same bs. You get a random watch with a bloated MSRP that no one bought that watch for, and it is from an actual watch maker though, but it is a very small company and the watch actually is only worth at most $150.
I lasted three months. And the only reason for that; After the first month i told them I wanted to cancel my sub. They gave me 60% off the next month if I'd stay. OK...THEN, I waited too long to cancel after the second month, so I got ANOTHER POS. I quickly cancelled after that
This is very interesting however buying from ebay seems just as much of a gamble I want someone to match the watches from WG to the actual brands as I have had a Heritor and a Jas McCabe and those were my first two watches so I’m happy (at the moment) and I’ve seen the watches on the sites but are these authentic or knock offs as that will change everything
I should be receiving my first watch from WG this week, i've been sceptical about it but figured for $100 I would give it a try and see if I like it. Most likely will cancel it after I receive the watch. any advice on good places to find watches or information about watches? I've been wanting to start collecting just looking for advice on where to start.
My suggestion save up money threw the yr and buy a nice watch these subscriptions u arnt buying the value your buying the random shipped watch in there classified class.
Good Video : A friend of mine wanted my opinion on this club as I'm watch collector and my search brought me to this video, Great info you know your stuff, one thing that raised a red flag with this company is they claim you will receive Japanese and Swiss made watches yet the only ones anyone has showed in their video were Chinese made. You can get vintage watches on Ebay for 200 that are worth much more Like Accutron or Rado and don't worry as if you get a fake just contact Ebay and you will get a refund . Vintage Orient watches are good, and the only Asian made watch brand I will wear, I mostly wear German Russian and Swiss made . Last year I scored at a flea market and got a Doxa Valjoux 88 for only $50 CAD the guy had no clue what it was he was selling . Your defiantly right the average person only knows about Gucci Rolex and maybe Rado, mention Burn or Titoni and they ain't got a clue. A little research . Anyone watching this video listen to hes saying dont get ripped off go to yard sales flea markets and online auctions , If your looking for new Bulova are great watches been around for over 100 years and they make all their own movements .
Thanks for sharing. I'm all for entry level watches, that being said, seiko, citizen, orient, tissot, bulova, would be my choices. Those watches have history, they have models ranging from $150 up to $10k like grand seikos, GPS citizen watches are outstanding. I agree, research the history of watches. Spend a little more cash and get a watch that will outlast you. Hand it down to the next generation. Forget the fly by night brands, over hyped without history. Usually a Frankenstein watch with seiko parts, assembled in China and marketed like its special.
I was thinking the same, the only way i could see it possible is if they were buying in bulk or got a hefty discount for a guaranteed 2000 order or something like that. I mean how else would it be possible
I've taken 3 spins on the Wheel. Every single time I won a level 1 watch. That's what you'll win....EVERY TIME. The watches they say are $500 conveniently sell new on Amazon and eBay every day for $175. You'll pay $290 for a $175 watch. You will not win a luxury watch. Guaranteed. They love shit watches like Out of Order etc. If it's not a Omega, Rolex, I'm not interested, with the exception of DEEP BLUE. Those watches are nice and durable but I still would never pay $290 for one.
Should remind people about the Seiko 5 line as well. You can also buy all the parts and make your own watch. Now here's one that can get people upset but the Invicta Pro Diver, They go on sale all the time for $60 or less and for that you get a decent watch with the Seiko NH35a automatic movement that also hand winds and hacks. Also, I have a Orient Ray II Raven, I put on a PVD Satin black coin edge bezel, a flat mirror black ceramic bezel insert, and a DD Sapphire Crystal with Blue AR. Its one of my favorite watches, my only complaint is the small crown.
Seiko 5! Entry level sport Seikos. Just don't buy the Mumbai specials off ebay! (hint to you guys, they're completely fake. Don't buy anything from India!) I am not a fan of Invicta at all, however, I will give credit where it's due. Their Pro Diver is an excellent value. That Orient you describe sound nice!
Brandon is spot-on. I tried the WatchGang black tier subscription for precisely one month. I received a disappointing, made in China Nautis watch, drop-shipped from ResultCo (Google them), the company WatchGang uses extensively to drop-ship from ResultCo's West Bloomfield, MI headquarters. Nautis, J. Brackett, Heritor, Morphic and many others are what ResultCo sources mainly from China. In my opinion, WatchGang is not worth your hard-earned money, unless of course you like made in China faux brands. Spread the word.
I watched a guy on video unboxing an Orient. He pulled on the crown to set the watch, and the crown fell off the stem. Is that an unusual occurrence for the brand?
Watched before signing up, I have some friends who are collectors and will have them help me, I have a $1000 budget and would like to get 2 - 3 decent watches, black that fits a suit, brown/silver business casual, and brown/gold business casual. Trying to match them with some box chains lol
That was a really good video. I really like that Orient watch. I was wondering since you know a lot about watches, why did you join WG in the first place?
I was willing to give them a try and see what happened. When they first started, they actually did work with legitimate microbrands and you could get some decent watches. At some point, they switched their model to cutting out the middleman (legit microbrands) and just creating their own bogus companies and calling them micros.
After two watches I cancelled subscription, also I was almost billed twice in one month but that is another story, by the way, the watches I received were so large I couldn't give them away
I wish this place was better sounds cool but it’s clearly not good, do you have any recommendations for anything like it that’s better? Thanks for sharing
I definitely agree they're sketchy but not all the watches in the black tier are garbage, the first and only one I got was the Nautis Diver Chrono and its actually a really good quality automatic watch
I wasn't aware that the Nautis Chrono Diver came in automatic. I have seen several and had one. All were quartz. The Nautis Chrono Diver wasn't a bad watch. The band was trash, the bezel is trash. The bezel insert is thin anodized aluminum. The indicies didn't line up at all, neither did the second hand. Other than being a heavy watch that appears to be quality, it really had nothing that suggested quality. Maybe you got a decent one.
