Well, we never saw that coming from TAG did we!! Here's my take on the new KITH collaboration, and what I think is going on with the general watch market right now.
I agree with you 100%. Never heard of Kith before as well, and would also not buy the branding. No Rock & roll all night, and most definitely not party every day…
Not a missed opportunity at all. It’s a tester. They will colab with kith as it’s a ltd run, charge a fortune, build the hype and then in the summer they will launch the F1 models at a lower price. Genius. Why all the fuss and hate? It’s feeding the hype. Great job Tag
I said it was a missed opportunity to release the F1 at Watches and Wonders to steel the show there, and get even more hype. I also said it's a low risk experiment to test the market reaction in preparation for a full release later in the year. I like everything TAG has done here, except the KITH collab is just weird. KISS would have been much better, followed by a psychedelic PINK FLOYD collab!
I think you're the most interesting watch 'RU-vidr'. Your takes are usually unique, rather than the others who just seem to repeat each other. Great video!

Personally think that sticky inflation is going to hover at 3% - 5% for the years ahead which will affect consumer purchases. interest rates should come down when its due for US election hopefully.
The cost of living is far too high for most people now isn't it. Can no longer justify buying an expensive watch when groceries, and loan repayments are so high.
Yes the watch world is full of little disappointments isn't it! It was supposed to be a KISS collaboration but the boss of TAG has a lisp and told the marketing guys to design a watch with the KITH logo on it!
Missed opportunity ? or was it ???. 8 out of 10 variations are limited editions and the Kith fan boys and girls will snap these up. If they don't sniff at paying 250 quid for a sodding hoodie they won't baulk at 1500 quid for a colour co-ordinated quartz watch to match the outfit, sold out !! I pretty much guarantee it. As for the remaining couple of variations ( read as piles of shit ! ) well....lets move on for a minute . Last year new Glass Box , wow come on Tag this is more like it , new Skipper great loving where you are going now. W&W this year... Glass Box on a bracelet , about time too. Split seconds Monaco , how much !! but regardless a great release for Tag and then they piss on their own chips and go back to shopping mall creations, come on Tag you are better than this so quit the quick cash grab releases now !!!. I was going to have a rant about RU-vid influencers but there is not enough time in the day lol. However, who do you think the Vicar gets her info off ?, nuff said. As for the Market , not many flippers out there now or chancers buying to make a quick buck or two. Another plandemic would sort it out methinks.
Someone at Tag clocked Swatch were selling a piece of crap 💩 for 10 times more than it’s worth with another brand on the dial and they had a go themselves. Be clear this is a £300 watch with £1200 of marketing. If this was 38mm with normal Tag branding and cost £700 they would have made a fortune still and they would have kept their dignity 🤦🏻♂️
At 38mm it wouldn't be true to the original size. With the current F1 (41mm, quartz) going for £1500 on a bracelet, do you really think a TAG-only reissue would be under £1000? These were £200+ over 30 years ago, so expecting a luxury watch brand to churn out 1000s of cheap watches isn't realistic.
The Kiss Heuer is the watch we wanted… Tag has been kithin’ it up since they bought Heuer in the 1980s. The Kith founder is a total dingus who’s the nephew of some big sneaker guy in NYC - gleaned it from the comments on a Hodinkee vid I couldn’t finish. I hate fast fashion and overpriced gear made with Chinese slave labor.
$1,500 is the new $150 see the price around.Before pandemia I had a mini S x $345 at 1% x month and I didn’t want to pay $700 for a Macan Now I have a RAV4 $650 at 7% with 800 credit score I got the original tag Heuer for $250 from Japan because I sold my F1 for $400 plastic straps To those who bought the watch enjoy it, life is short
It's quite clearly the way it is at a lot of ADs, but not all. Become a friend is how I see it, by visiting the AD often enough for them to know your name and that you're not going away!
Everyone's looking at it the wrong way... It not some experiment. They're just appealing to the generation that will care about watches and not the "watch enthusiasts" It sold out instantly because people thought it was cool and that's what the next generation wants: Cool watches. Watch enthusiasts have become so stale and only care about the same boring things. If it's not "worth it" or affordable to the masses people complain. It's become less about actually loving the watch and why it was made and more about can I park my money in this or get a good bargain for my money. The fact that you don't want to know about the Kith part of this collaboration backs just that. The fashion industry follows a much different value system than the watch industry and that's why "watch enthusiasts" are mad.
I'm kind of reading this trying really hard to understand what's COOL about KITH, and how that makes me stale that I think the Rolex James Cameron Deepsea, and James Bond Seamaster collaborations are 10x cooler. We obviously come from very different start points, you and I, but that's fine. You should make a video about how cool you think it is to wear a KITH branded watch.
