I’ve never done any kind of siding myself. And I’m gonna attempt to side our ‘shed’ bedroom with the same stuff… I’m so intimidated! 🤣 but mostly poor…. So I gotta do it lmfao I’ve had the siding sitting here for over a year… I think it’s fair to say I’ve been putting it off 🤣 I subscribed, so teach me good! Thanks! Mel 😁👊
@@TheDark_Sider oh boo I don’t have a TikTok I have a hard enough time trying to do RU-vid, Facebook and insta. I used to be on everything then took a 10 year break from social media just to start over again 😳🤣 If I make a page over there I’ll def find ya. Might have to just so I can learn from ya 👊 Cheers!
@melissaandjason I have quite a few on here too. If you watched all 4 videos on this channel that pertains to Hardie Shake, you would have a decent grasp of it. Just remember to always stagger 16 inches (as shown in the video) And the latches will never line up. Picture the wall as a 16 inch grid
@@melissaandjasonAll your cuts will butt against trims. Anything in the field will be a factory edge. I like to notch with a skill saw and diamond blade. Always cutting from the backside. Firstly, to keep material clean and no scratches. Also, you can run your cuts past a quarter inch and your notches will just fall out. Hope this helps
I just got a 100 shingles, I was working my way through the bundle using 5" singles (first "tab" width) then I hit a batch of 7". if you stagger them per Hardie (normal wall -starting from left 16" off 32" etc) and mix and match these different patterns the gaps get too close (less than the 1 1/2 inch hardie recommends). I thought it was a mistake!!!! I thought they sent me old inventory. Have you run into this problem????
I call them As and Bs. You can actually use either type of shingle overtop of the other as long as there's a 16 inch stagger. The biggest space between latches should be about an inch and a quarter. I've never had an issue as long as they are staggered 16 inches
If you're referring to the "latches" not a single one is closer than 1" and a 1/4. As the stagger is the proper 16 inch stagger for Hardie shake. It might look closer to your eye because of the angle on the camera. Cheers
