@@waynew.cheney2588 I think me and the guy in the video confused the trim, I see now that I was incorrect. I have an 02 f150 lariat that has a front and rear bench, so I incorrectly assumed the Harley Davidson had the same layout.
Mine is 01 non supercharged! My dad bought it brand new and I bought it off him when he upgraded, it still gets up there I can't keep up with a lightning but that suspension actually helps a lot! She has almost 400,000 miles now. It's never had any major issues, the alternator went out on me when I hit 300k and spark plugs shot out of the aluminum heads but those were easy fixes... I'm hoping to rebuild the engine with a supercharger by the end of the year, it's kind of a waiting game though I don't want to rebuild the engine until I have something to put in it while I'm working on the old block.
@@daniellozada3408 that's the way to do it! You know it's been taken care of! keep up on maintenance, keep it in the garage if you can. She'll last forever! I actually ended up giving mine back to my dad because I moved out of state for a while. When I came back I bought a new F-150. My dad still has the Harley! Its started to have some cosmetic issues because it hasn't been parked in a garage. He just got it repainted. He's going to start redoing the interior soon too. Damn dash cracked because of the sun. The only downside to these trucks is that it's hard to find parts. DO NOT EVER DAMAGE THE LOWER VALANCE. You'll never find another one. Luckily he hasn't had that issue, but I hear horror stories about people who hit something and can't get a new one.

@Axel Blancas Navarro did you end up pulling the trigger? And if so how reliable has it been with that many miles? I’m looking at ones with higher mileage as well
I love trucks like these. I'm a big fan of Toyota trucks, though and the closest we got to something like this seems to be the Tacoma X-Runner. Though those don't come with forced induction (If Toyota has made an SVT competitor, let me know)
Bought my 02 5 yrs ago. Most fun truck I've ever had and I've had several over the years. I will be upgrading it soon. Engine is still strong after 234k miles. 👍
I had a 2002, paid cash that I had save up from a deployment. I just wished the 2002's had AWD or atleast a 4wd option because it really sucked to drive during the wet and snow months (it was my DD). But one of the main reasons why I got it was the rear captains seats and huge rear console. It kept my kids apart from each other so they didn't fight LMAO. Loved that thing
Just bought one today a 02 with “150k” on it, but I’m thinking it’s more like 200k+ and odometer was rolled back, it seems to be in decent shape and drive solid. Hoping it’s good I got it for 7k
Could do it for you. A/C Compressor going out. Shocks and struts need a more frequent replacement. You’ll go through tires like no one’s business. Learn to drive RWD before you attempt going out in the snow; the thing has zero traction without sandbags in the trunk. Now for the good: you get a fun car that’ll throw you back slightly when you step on it, great sounding exhaust, fantastic sound system, tough as nails exterior (rammed into a Chevy Malibu with just a small scratch; no dents), and a sweet stylish look. Oh and they go for less than $10k. Mine’s 220,000 miles in and still running strong with just an exhaust leak and an A/C compressor out. Original engine and transmission. Take care of them and use premium gas and it’ll run well forever.

That's funny, got two step kids so I put the S13 Silva in the garage and pulled out my old HD 03 f150 that i drove in hs in 2010 and now I left my girl and the kids and got a C7 corvette but that HD f150 is still with me through thick and thin with 250k miles still running fast surprising all the new trucks..
Why was the Lightning’s 5.4L supercharged V8 detuned for the Harley Davidson F-150, producing 340 hp/425 lb-ft instead of the Lightning’s 380 hp/450 lb-ft?
It wasn't just "de-tuned" like the video said unfortunately (at least the 2002-2003 supercharged ones as far as I know). It has a different sized pulley for less boost and tuned for that lesser boost than the lightning. I'm not sure Ford's reasoning other than what I've heard other people say that it has something to do with towing...not sure how or why that would make sense, but maybe. But another thought would be to keep the legendary Lightning name in a power distinguishing class of its own. Though that's just reasonable speculation I guess.
Picked one up yesterday, alternator is shot, and it has 350k miles on it ... $500. Not the greatest condition, but if I use it 2-3 per year its worth the $500, getting it checked out by a shop for what else needs to be done.

I have a 2002... I've had it for more than 10 years... I love it.. it is impractical though.. around $100,000 miles.. I drive it very little but every time I do I'm smiling... Here's my warning to you guys that are looking for one... 8 mi to the gallon in city.. and that's driving it easy... 14 1/2...15 and 1/2 on road trips... And yes of blue one plug out so far... The only vehicle I have ever bought that has not devalued
Hey man, could I ask how much the insurance is for your Harley? I’ve been looking at some 02-03 but I’m not sure how much insurance would be since I’m young
@@svtjohnny3929 They're not too bad on insurance bc of them being 20yrs old, and the insurance companies typically view them as a regular f150 unless you specifically register it as a specialty vehicle (then you pay a LOT more). Doesn't hurt to just call your insurance and ask.
@Axel Blancas Navarro yes 7k is a good deal for the miles because supercharged Harleys are going for 15k right now with 100k or more miles. These trucks get more rare by the year so prices could plummet. But if you do decided to purchase it make sure you take someone who knows sum about trucks just to give it a good overview.
@Axel Blancas Navarro yes they are they have the 5.4 v8 engine which is a pretty reliable for Ford. I got a 2001 Harley non super charger which my family bought with 200 miles and it’s at 164k right now. We’ve only done oil changes , spark plugs and all the other fluids and it’s have not had no major repairs. It gets daily driven as well.

Ever since I was a kid I loved these trucks, would always see them around town. Used to beg my dad to get one 😂 he never did, I purchased an 01 non supercharged this year and I love it these trucks were ahead of time
Cool Video, I gotta say though you are wrong about the rubber 90 on the back of the engine. You can replace without removing the supercharger/intake manifold. The spark plug threads are trash though. Someone did come up with a solution for that too.
I recently got my used Harley Davison and the super charger was removed😢 good things are they car is is fine and just got to but a new one and and re install it🥲
Hey yo, need a piece of advice if you don't mind. I happened to have an 2003 F150 Harleydavidson 5.4 Supercharged, the oil lid says to use 5W20, it does have 255, ish kilometers, which is about 158,000 miles it does .......run, just runs, and I want to do the oil change by myself, the question is, what is the best lubricant out there for this engine with those miles in it, and what SAE should I use the same one? 5 W20? Or should I go higher and lastly, an oil additive would be of improvement,? And if it is....what brand would be the best? Thanks a lot and God bless
