Jayco weigh the vans as they come out of the factory so its 100% accurate. Also we ordered our jayco at a show, was 5k cheaper than what i coukd get it at the jayco dealer. Great points for people to double check guys.

This is the video I needed in June! I've been sharing this same advice with anyone who will listen after being taken for a ride by the caravan industry. The third party inspection before pick up is such a huge tip. Like you said, you're so excited to finally have your van, and it's so easy to miss little things that can turn into major issues down the road. If, for whatever reason, a third party inspection is out of the question, then just take your time with the handover. Open every cupboard, turn on every appliance, lay under the van, get on the roof and take as long as you need. Once you're done, go and get a coffee or some lunch for a couple of hours, come back, and go through everything again. It's so much easier to have an issues fixed before you sign the paperwork and leave with the van. Remember the builder/dealer want their money, so they'll do what they can to make you happy to take the van.

Very informative video and I agree with all your point. We went with a Jayco mainly due to the vans being made in Victoria and there are service centres or authorised service centres all over Aussie. Love your content keep up the great work.

We ordered an On the Move van and it is back in the factory for the 4th time; we have had it home for a total of 7 days I. 5 weeks!!! Great content! Thanks!

@mrandmrsmeier8685 I'm sure you'll be happy with your Zone. Our Zone is 18mths old and travelled over 26000kms and over some pretty roads. That was after a lot of research and a previous van that had water ingress and rot.

Your tips are spot on! We had a Cedar van built, every time we added an extra they told us the weights so we could keep track ~ they also weighed the tare weight with 1 full and 1 empty gas bottle and awning inclusive and supplied the weigh bridge documentation.

Guys you need to know your consumer law. Warranties are subject to accc terms and conditions of trade in Australia. So policy for a specific company are “sometimes” not in scope with the accc trying to sneak past things like , 2 year warranty on a $100k van just simply isn’t true. So just a thought do some research on consumer law apposed to a specific company policy because there not always in the scope of the accc terms of business in Australia. Good content though and appreciate the advice

Hey Luke Thanks for your comment :) Unfortunately, the caravan industry is not regulated very well, and the ACCC only does so much to help. At a certain point, they just tell you to get legal advice. Also, you can be in the right under consumer law, but if you can't get a resolution through ACCC etc, then it can cost a lot of money, time and stress to get an end result. So yes 100% everyone should do their research but if any of these tips can help people avoid needing to go down that road that's a win :)

6:05 all new car warranty is transferred within Australia. Not extended warranty. Its law. Caravan needs to come up with law like car

Hey guys. Sunseeker own the Marvel brand (you cannot buy it from anywhere else) but they do not make them. They have a new brand now called "vision" which I believe they build in their own factory but sunseeker are built by titanium and marvel by great aussie caravans.

Interesting the vans you mentioned are on my shit list to avoid , ive been doing home work from the covid period till now on new caravans its bloody scary , times have changed now and the regulations are crap there are none 😮 and a mine field or jungle too sought out warranty problems if they can fit your 2 week old van in for warranty repairs can take 6 months to book it in , bloody disgusting and you finaly get it back its either worse or hasnt been touched at all 😢 every caravan will come with a fault but the good caravan builders get you back in quickly and sort ya out and thats why they dont end up on my shit list even if they have some faults they look after their costumers and fix it quick 😉 👍

Hey David Thanks for watching. It's such an unregulated industry - actually scary. Covid really didn't help either. The vans we mentioned weren't mentioned for any particular reason other than they came into our head at the time 🤣 Sounds like your well prepared and researched and that's half the battle 👌

@@davidmilledge221 Stay right away from any caravan sold by Cravan HQ if you want to avoid the biggest headache of your life , ZERO customer service once deposit is taken. We have been trying to get our deposit of well over $10,000 back since July this year (when our van was supposed to be ready) I cant even get a reply from them, many in the same boat. We have everything in writing but that means nothing to them

You're making way too much of the warranty. Australian consumer law protects you and trumps the warranty.

Unfortunantly not as simple as making a complaint and it getting sorted. The ACCC will only do so much and then tell you to get a lawyer and sort it out yourself.
