Watering White Champaca with Rice water 

Thank you. Without looking at it or do little poking around is hard to say. Few things to look for: diseases, over watering, bugs, and under watering. 1) check if the branches are turning brown/wilting 2) what are the symptoms on those falling leaves. Brown? Whitish? Spotty? Patchy? 3) does the symptoms occur from top or from the bottom 4) have you check for bugs? Congratulations on getting the Champaca, this plant is just pure joy to have. Here are some tips: use acidic mix, use bit of organic fertilizer, do bring Champaca indoor when temp drops 45F, Champaca needs good amount of sunlights 6-8hours(not scorching sun), use its own leaf as mulch/minor fertilizer, careful when repotting since Champaca roots are easily snapped, when blooming feed fertilizer often but low dosage, move indoor over the winter set it by a sunny window, do not prune the older branches it will transfer bacteria/infection inward(it is ok to prune greener and younger ones), and prune the leader branch head to prevent it from going too tall.

@@ninelinks3443 thank you so much. I cant wait to receive it. I have issues when ever I bring my plants outside and back in. 1) it infestcwith all types of bugs. 2) the leaves start dropping and dying on me, how do you avoid that?

Try not to over water and check plants weekly. Most bugs infestation can be prevented if detected early.

Depends on how severe the root bound is. Initial root bound means just water more frequently and the plant will be fine. Heavier root bounded meaning 4+ years without root pruning or repotting/potting up then the growth will mostly be stunted. Eventually, I will end up either pot it into bigger container OR take it out and prune the overgrown roots and put back into the same container. Kinda hard to carry this back into the house every winter so most likely I be doing root pruning in the future.

Hi, few factors will affect the flowering. First, temperature: champaca loves humidity and 80-100F. Second, sunlight: white champaca needs at least 6 hours of sunlight for good blooming else you get alittle flowering in the shade(not to mention more sunlight means more fragrant flowers). Third, fertilizer: if temperature and sunlight are good then white champaca loves to grow and put out flowers but cant do that if there is nutrient deficiency. For fertilizer to encourage flowering use high in P-K phosphorus and potassium. I used jacks bloom booster 10-30-20 and occasionally supplement rice water for organic feed. Hope that helps.

When you want to water your plants with rice water then most of the time you want rice water to kinda fermented and produced beneficial bacteria. The fermented rice water is very smelly. However, you CAN use the rice water before it fermented but that way it will compact the soil and takes time to break down. To make rice water for plants: wash the rice and pour the rice water into a container or jar, seal it and open it occasionally to stir it. Then after a week or so you can dilute the newly made rice water with water to water your plants.

Pot/container size is really up to you. If you want the plant to grow big then use a bigger container or use smaller size container to slow its growth. Penn state is cold region so you need to have a good plan for wintering this plant indoor. Then summer time bring it outside.

White Champaca I got it off amazon indirectly with the seller(better pricing)

You can get one for less since the price changes throughout the season. I got my from a fellow seller in Amazon(we talked abit on the side and got a great price). Yeah, is bit pricer than other plants out there.

Most people propagates using airlayering or grafting. The cutting is very very hard to root. Cuttings usually rot before long, success rate is very low. I guess if you have a tropical and very sterile environment then might give it a shot on cuttings. I tried the airlayer earlier this year and got it to work but I ended up killing bu cutting off the mother branch too early.

There are no white champaca seeds. White Champaca can only be propagated using grafting, airlayering, and rare cases cutting. There is the yellow Champaca that has seeds but growing from seeds will take long time before flower such maybe 3-4 years. This is a great plant and its fragrance brought me back many of my childhood memories. It is easy to take care too and not many pests.
