How to create the half up half down hairstyle on wavy hair:
Step 1 - Create the middle parting using a brush or pin tail comb.
Step 2 - Section the hair by pulling two front panels forward, from the scalp down to the ear. Secure with textured hair clips.
Step 3 - Apply hairspray to help secure the two front sections and prevent flyaways. Use a soft brush or your fingers to help pull the sections neatly away from the face.
Step 4 - Gather the hair at the back of the head up and out of the way, and tie the two front panels back with a soft bobble, at the base of the hair where the back section will then cover it.
Step 5 - Drape the back section of the hair back over the bobble to hide the tie at the base of the hairline. Your waves should now flow down the back of your head, to create the “half down” part of the look.
Step 6 - Use a gel to smooth and style the edges round the front of the face.
Step 7 - Create small sections behind the part to create two micro braids. Create a loose or tight braid depending on your hair’s texture or personal preference. Secure the braid at the end with hairspray and gel.
Step 8 - Gather the hair at the back of the head, and section into two. Create a ponytail with the top half, to create the “half up” part of the look.
Step 9 - Use an oil to create a smooth, shiny, nourished finish on the waves.
Step 10 - Finish with hairspray to secure the whole look in place.
