You exactly right, Waylon was the best he was the perfect country artist, some artist are good at certain things like getting the crowd into the performance etc. Waylon had it all
I was born in 1990 so I didn't get into Waylon until after he passed. I'm jealous of anyone (including my dad) who had the privilege of seeing him live.
Waylon was one of a kind, i grew up in the 70s listening to Waylon, he was my favorite then and here in 2022 almost 23 he's still my favorite, the best ever, Waylon had it all, and by that I mean, he had everything needed that made him an absolute perfect country artist, his voice, his attitude, his looks this man was born to do just exactly what he did, and I hate to say it but we'll never see another Waylon, I'm thankful that I got to see him way back in 1982 when he came to Hazard Kentucky, sold out and the best concert I have ever attended, the concert he did there was part of their annual Black Gold festival which is held every year in September and in typical Waylon fashion he told them that the only way he would come there was if they paid him cash money and that's exactly what they did, all 54.000 of it was paid to Waylon in cash no check no going to a bank account, they handed him a bank bag that contained 54.000 dollar's, I kept my ticket stub for years but somewhere along the way moving from place to place I lost it and that bothered me for a long time, it was like I lost 10.000 dollars or something, Waylon left us way to early in 2002 but like millions of his fans I'm thankful that we still have his videos and the best written songs ever written and performed by a country artist. Next time I'll tell the story about the stuffed bear that Waylon acquired that he called the Cocaine bear, lol, and as he would say, It's a true story Hoss🎸
What a loss country music had when waylon passed away. There will never be anyone that can even get close to taking his place. He was is and always be the best! That mischievous grin gets to me everytime! RiP Waylon @
He definitely was... He's always been my favorite artist..He wasn't afraid to try new things or do things his way... I've read his book and others about him and I admire how he had the balls to bet on himself and do it his way... He also From all accounts I've read and heard was a very loyal person and a true friend to those he called friends...all of our legends are dying off and the younger guys and gals that are truly talented can't get a fair shake in this music market around here anymore. I live 15 miles from Nashville and I can't find good country music on my radio... To hear the real deal you pretty much have to go see live concerts because if you're not willing to sell out and let the establishment control your music, appearance and everything else they're gonna pass you up for a pretty faced sell out that can't even play an instrument or right a song and auto tune them...then try to force feed it to us...I know there's some real good artist out there but it's tremendously hard for them to get publicity or commercial success....We need someone into come and put the control back in the artist hands like Waylon did.. But they'll never be another Waylon...I will keep listening to the legends and trying to find as many new artist that do music with meaning and soul it's tough finding them though...
Today, June 15, would have been Waylon's 85th birthday. I'm going to be enjoying his music to commemorate his birthday just like I do pretty much every other day! Thanks for all the great songs... nobody could deliver them like Waylon!
Wade Rees. Shooter us good but he’s not even close to his daddy. Honestly I don’t think he wants to be. He has a killer song out called rowdy women. Love it.
Cowboy sings the blues, the whole Waylon sound set the bar so high that this stuff on radio today is for sure " shit", also that guy on harmony is outta sight and with Waylon is hand in glove!
Billy Joe Shaver wrote the "Willie The Wandering..." . Waylon had a way of making Billy's song come alive. Thankful they became friends and shared so much good music together.
Jiwbink w There was just something about him. Word was that in the 70's Waylon didn't like bathing much because the warm water would make the amphetamines or coke wear off faster. So, he'd douse himself heavily with Brute and head on into Hillbilly Central to work, nonchalant as can be! They say the aroma was as confusing as it was loud. LOL
Dunno any girls gonna refuse to help these cowboys! Thanks walonvids for the post. RIP Walon, you're still being loved and missed, and listened to - forever.
First got into 70's country a few years ago when i heard "Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way" which led me to this video. After hearing these songs i knew that Waylon and I were going to have a long relationship together. This video also led me to Billy Joe Shaver
To all my new amigos, Thank you for your coment,s , These songs are apart of my life, I didn't hear them until later in life, I mean it's kinda funny how when I myself was incarcerated at a young age 14 . In Palo cedro ca. Actually I lived about a mile up the road from one Mr Merle Hagard. Went to high school with his son. Anyway I would often see that beautiful ( Super Chief ) modeled after the 1940,s Amtrak luxtruy travel concept. He knew all 50 of us were wild ones . He always gave a long blast on the horn when he few passed us all of us in alone doing work detail. One day I found myself in real big trouble. I mean big life changing trouble. Iwas on permanent 24 hr work detail. It was Christmas it was cool wet and miserable, I was ordered to hang tree lights on the property. Pop ordered a bunch of us to unload a semi truck that just pulled in. There they were. Ten army crate,s 5x5 x5, filled to the brink with Christmas life's all perfect 100 ft rolls. Pop looked at me and only me .he smiled and said (Get buisey and you better stay buisey. Well I thought I would be hanging lights till next .Christmas. A few days later ,I'm tired cooled and wet to the bone. I'm really starting to think I should make a run for it. I'm up in a tree when like a trumpet it was the Chief flying faster than ever with a horn stuck on on. Almost out of controll because he was leading a train right behind him was another gorgeous bus with a giant eagle in the shape of an eagle . Behind him Mr Willie and be hind him I believed that was the cash man, then a few others all laying on their horns and yelling out the windows, going crazey headed for what I now know as what had to be one hell of a party. I definitely herd a (whoop whoop) ( you go you beautiful outlaws. Merry Christmas and happy f------g newyear. I started laughing as they raced by. The smile on my face laugher in my guts me totally made me stop praying for a branch to break and all my trouble, s .It actually brought out a feeling of real bullet proft jou . I wasn't going to let them label me something evil, for what I still claim today as a heroic act.well there,s always been a different set of opinions on that one. This is a true story, just checkout the Redding tv news in 12/1982. It will explain about all the miles of tracffic. To see the lights. Which could be seen for miles. No shit they had to bring in highway patrol to direct traffic, people were getting trapped on litt four corners of nowhere. Yes I did finish two days before Christmas. I never got any credit for any of my work. They actually interviewed someone else and putt him on tv. (My mama really didn't know why they've kept showing my hands and work, Not my face on tv.) Thanks guys. I'm got married had a bucket full of kid,s and I have more grandkids .all mind you with same (Good hearted woman in love with world's most goodtiming man). We lived and raised our kids not to far from were thins happened in 1982.any one who has known me most of my life, will tell you that (him and all of his roudy friends. ) Have either settled down or moved( beyond those swinging doors) I still live in those (slow moving ways) .Keep listening , I will be adding to it. (Because it's hard to be an outlaw who ain't wanted anymore). Whoop whoop!!!!
it funny how people always argue who is the best country singer ever, Waylon( in my opinion the best but closey followed by), Merle, George, Willie, etc... But nobody ever argues about the best steel guitarist...
People will argue about anything including steel players but mention Ralph Mooney, and the reply is......"Uh?..Well?...Yeah, he's hard to beat". Impossible to equal, let alone beat is more like it

Cowboys they are ladies men alright They love 'em up & talk 'em up all night But they're lonely when there's nothin' else to do And that's what makes the cowboys sing the blues He does a little Shakespere & he sings He plays the mandolin & other things He looks for love, beauty & I.Q. And that's what makes the cowboys sing the blues Cowboys have to fall in love get hurt & all that bit Let thier hearts hang out so they can write you all a hit So ladies if they ask you don't refuse Let's all help the cowboys sing the blues Inst verse... Cowboys they don't ever understand This thing between a woman & a man Untill they find the one they always lose And that's what makes the cowboys sing the blues A cowboy takes his lonely pen in hand And tries to make somebody understand But she has ears to hear a different tune And that's what makes the cowboys sing the blues
My friend & publisher, "Cowboy" Jack Clement wrote this in his spare time! Billy Joe Shaver wrote 'Willie The Wandering Gypsy'. Waylon wrote most of his other songs in HIS spare time. ALL exceptional stuff!!
@@glennbasilii552 Hi Glen , i dont now exactly how many songs Waylon wrote alot less than Willie and Cash, he did alot of covers but wrote way more than 20. under rated writer. Waylon was awsome !
Way back in the seventies he sang this on Austin City Limits. My disastrous teenage marriage was reaching its inevitable end, and the expression on my face as he growled that note sparked the final argument of that marriage, lol
Waylon is the best. I love him and Jessi too. What a couple that look so in love! I love their passion. They remind me of my relationship with my boyfriend who love each other deeply. I love listening to every word of their love songs. It energizes me to continue to love just as hard as I do now. I always wish Waylon was here to keep writing more beautiful love ❤️ songs.
My wife was named Jessi cause apparently her mother looked just like JC when she was young. So of course i had to name our jet black lab Waylon. Also had a cat we named Willie. Just me n Waylon still kickin dirt these days...
