Im from Pakistan. Turmeric is used in all our local dishes here... it is also used to cure sore throat by adding it to warm milk with honey and it also makes excellent facemasks combined with oils and gramflour. There are many endless benefits of turmeric.
Love tumeric! It's also a great tooth whitener! I mix it with a little water to make a paste and brush my teeth with it. You can see the difference straight away. Just make sure you rinse well. I brush with a mild toothpaste after. I use it once or twice a week to keep my teeth really white :)

I'm Pakistani and we have a different kind of drink. We hear milk up, put a few teaspoons of turmeric in with ground almonds and honey and it's so tasty
Golden Milk Recipe: 3/4 cup warm water 1/2 cup coconut milk 1 teaspoon of tumeric 1/2 a teaspoon of cinnamon An eighth of a quarter of a teaspoon of nutmeg (sorry, I'm not sure what she meant by this, feel free to correct me in the comments) 5 drops of stevia 1/4 of a teaspoon of ground black pepper
Thanks for the video. I cook it in coconut oil with some pepper, then add coconut milk and some honey, I also cook my vegetables with some legumes in the turmeric, coconut oil and coconut milk. It's cut down on my allergies and improved my mood and energy level.
In Okinawa, Japan they drink fermented turmeric tea. And several people that live in Okinawa are about 80 years old and still are participating in martial arts. There are even elders who are 100 and are still farming, harvesting, playing with their grandchildren, ect. Bitter melon is another health food there. It's also one of my favorite vegetables. The larger ones are less bitter while the smaller ones are more bitter
I am 40 years old and suffer terribly with pain from rhumatoid arthritis. I have made your fantastic recipe for tumeric tea and OH MY GOSH...I have had so much relief from the painful joints, I am over the moon!!! Thank you so much for sharing this, your video is just amazing!!
Im gulf arabic, we use this spice in mostly every lunch we make or a dish its like the importance of salt in ur food lol but i didnt nor do i think my family knows about all these benefits! Thankyou!!! Ur amazing
My mom makes turmeric paste for my dogs with bad arthritis and it's amazing how much it has helped them. They can run around and not be in pain or limp anymore. In the paste she uses coconut oil, black pepper, and turmeric.
I recently found your channel and I'm in love with it. Your Diy's are so helpful and amazing. You are such an awesome person. Always gonna look forward to your videos.
This was a very helpful video. Learned a lot. You’re a very calming person. Your voice, your mannerisms and just your whole attitude. Very zen. Thanks for sharing. 🌱
Seriously, people - if you can't understand her accent, quick complaining about it (it's YOUR issue) and just use the settings on the bottom right of the screen to slow down the video. Problem solved...yeesh.
I can't believe the rudeness on this feed towards Ela. You should all be ashamed talking about her speech. There is nothing wrong with the way Ela speaks. I can hear and understand her well. Maybe there is something wrong with your hearing..we don't need troll's on this channel.
That's funny. I can't hear without hearing aids and I can understand everything she says. Some people aren't used to thick accents, so that's understandable, but I don't think she mumbles. There might be one or two things I don't catch, but it would be weird for me if that weren't the case. People are just being rude, like you said.
I have not read any rude remarks about Ela's speech, accent and enunciation but is true that half of what she says is almost indecipherable. And that's a pity as we all could use some dietary advice!
OMG!!!! Lea this drink is certainly now my FAVORITE way of getting the amazing benefits of the Turmeric...I didn't have coconut milk soIi used Almond instead and added a tablespoon of raw organic Coconut oil with a dash of honey!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE...so happy I came across your site!!
I made the drink with milk, stevia, turmeric, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger and allspice. it tasted like a chai tea! I love it! thank you for the great video.
I had pain in my fingers, old age pain, that hurt even when my hands were still. I read that tumeric was good for this and could be used topically. I mixed it with a bit of water, aloe vera gel, and a bit of epsom salt. I soaked my fingers in this mixture for about 45 minutes. Not only did the pain go away, my hand felt better than it had in a long time and has been pain free since! I'm not sure how well it would work for more advanced conditions, but I've never seen anything as effective.
I drank fresh turmeric juice regularly when I had a chronic stomach ulcer for about three months, tried some medicines before but didn't work. The result was amazing, it also improves my appetite.
I have ms with neuropathic pain they can't medicate cause I only have 1 kidney. Your recipe for turmeric tea is one of the best I've tried. Thank you for sharing this x
You have just the cutest accent ever,,,,I have recently discovered turmeric for joint swelling and pain related to arthritis........I can add it to soo many things,,,,,so many benefits...THANKS!
Great ideas! Thanks! Another thing I've heard you can do with turmeric is use it as a teeth whitener. You take a bit of coconut oil and add some turmeric to it to make a paste. Put it on your tooth brush and brush your teeth with it. Leave it on your teeth for 5 minutes. Then rinse it out and then brush your teeth with normal toothpaste. It will stain the bristles of your toothbrush, so you may want to use a cheaper toothbrush for this (turmeric part) It's up to you. Also heard from Paramahamsa Nithyananda that you can take turmeric and mix it with a bit of water to make a paste. Put it on your forehead and third eye Area. Go to bed. Concentrate on third eye Area. Go to sleep. When you wake up, wash it off. You can use coconut oil to help remove the turmeric color if you still see it after washing face. Do this for one month. It will help decalcify your pineal gland. 😊😊❤️ Turmeric is awesome!
Love the description box but a quick qn....where did u get that tiny container that you put the turmeric skin treatment in? Thanks, you're such a gorgeous soul!
Love your video, and your voice is wonderful. I am from the West Indies, and of East Indian heritage. We use turmeric a lot at home, in many of the ways you mentioned, including the dog food. Just to let you know, you can use plain yoghurt to remove the yellow stains from our skin.
Hi Ela, I really enjoyed my Turmeric Milk Tonight. I have never tried it with ground pepper before. It tastes amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your recipe to us. :)
+What The Sigh. Sending you love and light to overcome whatever makes you act out over the Internet. Always remember that there's a person behind the screen. ❤️
I've watched this video and your playlists like a gazillion times already for the last 2 weeks and I realized i never left a comment?! At all?! Dear me, why? Anyways, i really like your videos, it's helping me a on my vegan journey and my obsession on turmeric! I take like 2 times a day of turmeric milk! And as my night time facial cleanser. My Mum is a breast cancer survivor and I couldn't be more encouraging in putting turmeric on her diet and seeing your video helped me more on explaining it's beneficial for our health... Thank you so much! One question though, any alternatives for chickpea flour for the facial cleanser? As of now, I'm just mixing turmeric, coconut milk and honey... Thanks!
Thanks for all the of the wonderful recipes. I'm excited to try them. When you added coconut milk did you add the full fat coconut milk or one of the lighter versions that are being sold these days.
I always enjoy your videos as I always come out of them having learnt something! As someone studying nutrition I always find them so interesting. Going to have to try the golden milk. Also one recipe I enjoy is "cauliflower rice with some turmeric and cumin as well as salt and pepper" it such a lovely way to get more veg into your diet. On a side note, and this is just a video suggestion but maybe a video on herbs and spices you cook with? So kind of like a spice cupboard tour? I suggest this because I enjoy trying new spices and herbs to add flavour and am always in the mood to try new spices.
can you do a video for ( mostly) organic eyeshadows? like browns and earthy tones. I have been looking around for some and I can't find any I like. if you can you are definitely a lifesaver !
I love your videos, you really have taught me a lot of tips and recipes. I would be really interested to know how you accumulate so much information on natural remedies? I want to educate myself more.
Instead of chi pea flower, can I use almond mill? I have a huge bag and would love to use. Thx! Love the video. I'm about to try this tea now. I have all ingredients! 😊
this maybe a silly question, but I'm only beginning to really learn about these natural ways of doing things. My question is this, for the coconut milk you use in your receipts, is there a specific kind or just whatever I find at the grocery store? And because of the coconut milk do things need to be refrigerated or does it not go bad? Thank you so much for your wonderful videos!! SOOOO appreciated!
i've also been adding it to some Indian herbs to revive the red tones in my hair, now that i live on a tropical island and the sun is brightening my hair too much :} i still have to try the golden milk recipe!!
It's important to NOT use already-ground black pepper, but freshly cracked black pepper from a grinder to help the tumeric properly absorb into your body, as well as using an organic oil like coconut or olive. The peperine in freshly cracked black pepper is what is so important in increasing the amount of tumeric that gets absorbed; an increase that can be nearly 200%!
Iv been using turmeric chickpea and milk as a face pack ever since I can remember! ( Mothers recipe! ) Even after all these years and after trying hundreds of different face packs ..this one is my favorite :D Ela gale the wedges recipe looks yummy ! cant wait to try!
I bought Turmeric and Cayenne pepper powder at the same time, but I never knew, but now I think Cayenne pepper also promotes absorption of Turmeric. Thanks!
I love ur channel,it's about time someone made a tumeric video,I've been using it as a mask and in my anti acne soap that i make and it works fabulously(:
I agree, geez people, use captions or rewind if you miss something. I had no problem understanding her, yes she has a thick accent but she is not speaking fast at all. You just have to use your mind a little, you know concentrate and listen. Geez, people are just so used to not having to do anything that even seriously listening to someone is too hard for them.
She has outstanding infirmation, but, as others have stated, I really, really wanted to understand and grasp all that she was saying. The speed of the delivery prevented me from understanding the whole thing. Closed Caption feature is sometimes incorrect with what is actually being spoken. I subscribed because she appears to have great things to tell us and I want to hear it more clearly. I am NOT, in any way, meaning to deliberately criticize or put someone down.
I put a teaspoon of turmeric into a cup of hot milk, half a teaspoon of freshly ground fennel, half teaspoon of freshly ground cumin, quarter teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper, half a teaspoon of ginger powder or fresh ginger, and a teaspoon of virgin coconut oil, stir it well, and drink it all down. I really like it.Thanks
Loved the information you shared in your video... I absolutely Love Turmeric, and have recently found so many great uses for this exotic spice. Thank you, Ya'His'TA
I'm here because I'm trying to make all natural "crazy" lipstick colors - Can you tell me how grainy is tumeric? Is it more grainy like baking soda or powdery like flour?
Awesome vid, well done! Please remind people that if your on any medications, to check with your doctor as there are a few that cannot be taken with Turmeric
Thank You so much for the amazing things that Turmeric can do for the body. I just started using it, it is Great for so many things! Blessings, Nerry Jimenez
Love this! : ) btw Turmeric is one of the biggest spices used in India. Turmeric, milk, and honey is a very popular drink in India. Also Brides use Turmeric few days before their big day to pamper themselves. :P Also I use raw honey mixed with a little bit of turmeric which is very good for sore throats! It's a miracle worker over night! :D
The best thing for eczema is definitely olive oil. It has a lot of benefits and a high amount of squalene (squalane?), which the skin produces normally. with eczema, the skin doesn't produce as much squalene. So try a turmeric and olive oil mask!
I have been trying to help my sister out with her health. So it was good coming across your channel and that i can share it with her. Someone more relatable she can understand. lol . I immediately heard the "so called accent" and it was refreshing. listening to "american" most of the time has a numbing effect and can get boring.. even funnier. Churr
turmeric also has the chemical to help prevent cancer. I remember one of my coursemates at uni made a presentation in our food science module on that long times ago.
you might want to try dumping liberal amount of fresh tumeric powder with your moringa powder, i mix these two ingredients into a glass of simple tomato juice chilled, and it just feels really healthy. I discovered that moringa powder tastes a lot different depending upon who processed it, so if you find it too bitter to stand keep trying different brands.
so can turmeric powder lighten dark spots on your skin? like my neck, sides, and in between my thighs are shades darker than my skin I'm pretty lights and it makes me self conscious about it because I'm on the volley ball team and we have to wear short shorts and our hair I high ponytails and I really want to fix this problem.
I found this amazing all natural ginger ale made with real ginger(with bits in the bottle),passion fruit, and yup turmeric. It is so yummy are so good for you I recommend it to anyone willing to try it
