Great to see the update.its just a pleasure to watch you guys do your thing. The kitchen will be nice when finished..Can't wait to see the end results.
Y'all r doing a great job. Actually, I've worked in the snow a lot and u warm up quickly. Doug, you know about carpentry, electricity, remodeling, etc. and you're not afraid to make major changes. And Ashley, you r so sweet and work hard. You're going to have a beautiful place. When u get the school livable, you could maybe rent the mobile home and have money coming in.
Thank you! Yea, I get pretty hot when I work out in the cold when I'm all bundled up. I love the snow, just wish it didn't get into the super cold temperatures like it has been lately. We've been fixing homes for so long it's become so normal for us these days, haha.
Hi guys nice to see you back, just a quick heads up,be careful with the walls in the trailer some do contain asbestos,i would get someone in to check them before you do any renovation, old drywall can contain asbestos also. be carefiul say hi to Belle and mavrick shayne and karen
Thank you. :) We are glad to be back! We are generally cautious whenever we do dirty work when removing drywall, carpeting, etc. You never know what these old homes contain. Better to be on the safe side.
Love the new glasses Ashley! I'm always amazed at how you guys don't mess around. When you say you're going to do something you get right to it. No messing around...It was good to see Grumpy. He's so happy to be with you all. Hope the black kitty comes back soon. It's cold where you are. Just watching Ashley one her knees cutting twigs made my knees cold. Might want to get some type of plastic to put under them that you can move around freely on. You might not have any discomfort now but in a few years, it will creep up on you. Great to see you again.
Yep, we just like to stay busy and are generally pretty quick at doing projects. We haven't seen the black cat since that day, weird. It's been really cold lately, but this winter has been unusually very cold. Sometimes when I am clearing the trees, I accidentally kneel on the cut ones under the snow and that hurts!
I'm so glad you're getting settled in. Good to see you've gotten your glasses Ashley, seeing is important! I love that wallpaper, I hope you can save it. I remember in my childhood a relative had that same on their walls. It may be possible to repurpose the old fridge and/or it's parts (motor especially) With all those saplings growing in your land I was wondering if maybe you could use those to make wattling fences to surround part of your perimeter boundaries, which would save you from having to burn or haul them off. Or you could make maybe 6-8 foot sections of wattling, then stack them in the barn for later use. Here is a video that shows sort of what I'm thinking of ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-B7T23jCLn8I.html Not that I'd want to add to your already long list of projects... and while adding to the list, maybe Doug could find a free utility trailer on Craig's List, or build one - not sure on how IN law works for licensing "home made" trailers. This video shows one a guy built, which is similar to what I was thinking would work good for you guys. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9oNaoI5MuhU.html I'd bet one could be built practically free from found parts, and using more wood. Plus I'd make the sides higher and removable, plus put ratchet strap loops. With all the renovating you have planned you may make a lot of use from a trailer.
It's nice being able to see clearly again. Yea, we're keeping that panelling, it's so cool! It's the only wall in the whole trailer that has that. I will for sure look into the wattling fences you mentioned. We will have soooo many baby trees that will end up being burnt if we can't find a purpose for them. Utility trailers are something we have thought about and considered. So far we haven't needed one since the Element has a lot of space inside and our homemade roof racks have always been great for getting plywood, sheetrock, etc. We'll see.

It's been wonderful being here. No revving loud vehicles, no streetlights shining in the windows at night, nice land. We love all the pretty birds here like cardinals and blue jays. And the trailer lets in so much light, it's a nice cozy home. Thank you guys so much!

I'm so excited your back! Great to see you guys again. I am remaining in excitement to see your kitchen when it is done. I have a mobile home also, so keep filming. Learning a lot from you, just by watching. In fact we need new kitchen cabinets too. We bought this place new, but it is so cheap how these are made. I find your video's very interesting. Luv this family!!
It brings me great joy to follow along with your hardworking families ventures. I started following because of the respect you gave to the cat colony, but coming from a family with a ranching background I stayed for your passion. I'm so excited to see where you take this new property! Glad you brought Grumpy too ;)
Good job. Might wanna check the riser out of the ground has good heat tape on it so your pipes don't freeze. Really want to see what you do with the church. Can't wait to see that.
We are surprised the pipes haven't frozen this winter since it has been super cold. The skirting on the trailer is done well with no drafts at all and I think that is what is doing the trick. Doug's really looking forward to working on the school house. It will be fun to see how that all goes.
I like your glasses, Ashley. Love the work you've done so far. You're blessed to be so knowledgeable in building and remodeling. Being young is a plus. My husband and I started remodeling our living room today. We are in our sixties and after tearing up a carpet and padding today we are feeling it. Lol Then I pulled all the staples out of the floor. A must have is a good pair of knee pads. Which I ordered today! Definitely going to be slow going. I could tell the difference as soon as you put up the drywall by the window. Love it! Keep up the good work.
"A Man Ain't Nothing if He Ain't Got Land" I love your new place so many wonderful possibilities. You have chosen well. I am looking forward to some really great thing happening for your family. Would like for you to set up a P.O. Box.
It's been awesome living here. The landscape around here is beautiful and there are so many birds like cardinals and blue jays, it's really nice. Very peaceful. And no streetlights shining into our windows at night!
p.s. thanks for the idea on the roof rack I have a dodge Durango with the same rack system as your Honda had to bring a mattress home on it yesterday it was a pain to tie it down with the rack you built it would be much easier so I'm going to make one thank you!
Glad we helped! The home made roof rack is extremely handy for sheetrock, plywood, lumber, etc. We used our old rack extensively. Yea, bringing home your mattress would have worked beautifully on it.
Oh ho - black cat - it’s probably NOT sterilized! I’m sure it doesn’t hav an ear tip. Does it have a flabby belly? Sometimes (not always) that can help you determine if it’s been spayed or not. Geez louise - there may be a mini colony there already! At least Mr. Grumpy won’t be a party to that!! Gosh - what a difference you’ve made just by cleaning up those walls with dry wall!! What are you going to do with the ceiling? Maybe painting it will freshen it up a bit without a huge overhaul or costing lots of money? It’s exciting to see what progress you’ll be making!!!
We only got a quick glimpse of that black cat from far away and haven't seen it since. There was another cat we saw the first day but we haven't seen it around since then either. We still are not sure what we will do with the ceiling. We will either just leave it alone, or paint it. Paint would surely liven up the ceiling and room. It has become so stained over the last 40 years!
WHOOOO HOOOO! Good to see you up and running again. Looks like country life agrees with you! I look forward to riding along on your new property and adventures.
Maybe I missed it, but will you be replacing that window in the kitchen? Also, find a neighbor with a brush hog on their tractor, that little bit of clearing you got down will take a tractor about 20 seconds, with very little brush to pickup. Enjoy the progress. Take care
We're not going to replace the window. It has a storm window but we took it off for now. Luckily, the mobile home has storm windows for all the windows, which is really good since they are all louver windows and they don't close tight. A brush hog would definitely get the job done fast, we may have to see about that.
Hiya! Loved the video and seeing the progress you all are making. the best part for me was seeing the smiles on your faces. I'm digging the new glasses Ashley, they look good on you. Can hardly wait to see how the kitchen turns out!
I’m revisiting your guys older videos. I have loved watching your skills develop and how much you’ve accomplished. I’ve always wanted to do something similar to this, I really desire to become debt free and live a bit more comfortably. Because of some recent events in life I’ve had to put my dreams on hold to restore a home of my own. I love to at least live vicariously through you guys until I can finally embark on my own journey. Thank you so much to your and your family for not only putting out great content, but for helping me get through a fairly hard time.
So nice to see you all and the great transformation!! It's looking really good! You two are awesome! Love your "do it yourself" mindset... Very impressive work. Can't wait to see the finished product!
Good lord I just moved into our new house and I can barely put together a few ikea things. You guys put me to shame. I have skills and tools, just no energy. Nice work!
Great to see you guys up and running again! That kitchen is going to be nice. Doug you are a brave man outside with that stove...in the freezing air! Looks great though!! Love the new glasses Ashley....bet you like seeing again....:) Maybe wait for it to warm up and pull that brush up roots and all? They will grow back if you just cut them at ground level.... Glad to see you all smiling again.....even Grumpy was smiling...:)
It was a struggle getting internet, but we are so glad to finally have it and be back! Yep, it's nice to see things clearly again. We will try to pull up the smaller trees when it gets warmer out. A lot of them are thick bigger type trees that need to be cut with the reciprocating saw. Thanks!
Well maverick was really keen to help belle. It's a big place and you have lots to do, are you renovating the mobile home completely or just getting it to a reasonable standard , that house is where your money is, once renovated the value of your plot will go up. Nice to see you all again, nasty weather.
Basically the only major work we are doing on the mobile home is the kitchen since it was nasty and not very functional. The rest is pretty fine. There are some small jobs that need to get done, but nothing major. The storm window trim needs to be replaced, and we will recoat the roof. The snow is awesome, just wish it wasn't soo cold. It has been bitterly frigid this winter!
Saw some of your videos about a year ago. Now I have bought a property with a old 75 mobile home on it. Its completely gutted. Now your videos are a big help. It has a well and I was wondering why i had pipes in a closet. Water softener. Thanks
Watching almost three years later and I'm laughing because I had those very same kitchen window curtains in 1965 in my home. Loved them! Not so much now. :o)
I cleared our land in the winter too. I burned as I went so I wouldn’t have all the brush come spring. I really enjoy watching you. Keep up the good work.
Doug and Ashley, it's starting to come together, really looking good. Congratulations on your appliances, believe me, we know what it's like to have problematic or inadequate household items. Yep, everythings looking good except for the snow. Snow scenes are nice to look at but, we don't get along. with the cold. Blessings to you and your family. Stan
So glad we found the washer and dryer for so cheap and we were able to fix that washer :) I love the snow, but when it gets too cold out I don't like it, haha. Thank you!
Awwww, all the nice Cabinets. Wait thought you said you guys Love Vintage stuff. So why change it. You can make it work. See, I dont mind replacing Wood paneling with sheetrock if its in a area not often seen. Like in closets or behind stuff like cabinets. can always save the wood paneling for other areas, that you remove it from.
It's hard to tell on video, but the base cabinets were were really nasty and falling apart. The uppers were better, but had a lot of mouse poop, so we just decided to start fresh.
I just found your channel and have been wondering when you started vlogging. I would love to see the old videos as well. If you can post them I will watch them. Where did you move from? Thanks.
We started vlogging 2 years ago. Here is the link to our video page and it's sorted with the first video being the oldest: ru-vid.com/show-UCRKjjDhP3w2lnx3csu3G3awvideos?sort=da&view=0&flow=grid
Love what I've seen so far on the mobile home makeover. But I'm having trouble finding the videos and would like to watch them in order. Could you label them a little better, with episode numbers. I am OCD and want to watch things in order. Thank you for sharing!
This is how to view our videos in order: Click on our channel name (Out in the Country), then click on "Videos". There will then be a "Sort by" which drops down - choose "Date added (oldest)".
It's better to pull all of the stuffing out and throw it away. Then wash the not stuffed animal in the sink. If you do it in the washer put it on the gentle cycle. Buy new stuffing and restuff it.
One request let us know which house your at im confused been marathon watching and their not in order in YT. also the clearing your doing I'd going to start growing again in spring. I'm a landescaper plenty of experience in that but if you spray with brush killer as they green up in spring they'll die
Hi, this was at our previous property. We don't use any kind of chemicals or plant killers, so the plan was to keep mowing it until they died, which my dad has done years ago on his property and over time it worked great. To view our videos in order, click on our channel name, then click on the tab that says "Videos". This link will take you to right to our videos: ru-vid.com/show-UCRKjjDhP3w2lnx3csu3G3awvideos You can also then "sort by" oldest first, or by most popular. Thanks!
Yep, we just love to keep busy and work on things! We don't know if the county will allow us to keep both homes once the schoolhouse is done. If they want us to get rid of it, we want to apply for a special exemption to keep it. I don't think we would rent it out, but we like the idea of having a guest house. Plus, the trailer is just so cool. We'll see how it all goes.
