Pre- established trees are always a bonus. You sound new to the North, just in case you are. Just a warning, keep around the banana, Sugar Cane, Pineapples ect well maintained, Death Aders love these areas because of the rodents, frogs & toads love these areas.

The green ants taste like a little lime burst. Hold the front end of the ant in your fingers and pop the abdomen with your tongue/teeth. Bush tucker

You can eat the backsides of the green ant , they taste like sherbet and are quite expensive to buy, rub them into a side of salmon and let it sit for 2 days , cook to your liking it will blow your mind

Good on you for moving north, no more jumpers and beanies at least for a few years until you fully acclimatize. You can eat the sweet potato leaves, the young ones are best, cook like spinach or raw. And the green ants you can taste their butts very citrusy, a big hand full into a billy tea good for colds. Oh yeah keep a good distance from the big birds.

Green ants are great at pollinating dragon fruit, but they need a living bridge to get there. They don't like the ground at all.

Research those green ants you can use them as pest control for your fruit trees and other things. Look up aboriginal uses/medicinal remedies or green ant bush tucker.
