I get so much joy and comfort watching your videos...really looking forward to seeing what's up next for you, as well as some of the events of 2023 that you haven't put out in video yet. I learn a lot from your content and it keeps me motivated and inspired. We're in year 2 of cruising - and I love it, but it can get bloody hard sometimes! I always feel revitalized after watching one of your videos.

I feel your pain. We’re on week four of getting the shaft bearing replaced and a combination of difficult bolts and Xmas holidays means we’re still waiting on what we thought would be a couple of days Also our ais is kaput so ordering new unit from Australia and should arrive mid January…. Arrgghh!

Happy New Year,. Blwydden Newydd dda. I live in Thailand and am considering buying a boat in the UK and sailing back to Thailand. We have big tides where I live and long sandy beaches. A bilge keel would be ideal here. My question is would it be practical to sail a smallish bilge keel boat from the UK to my home in Thailand?

Very interesting! -- QUESTION -- We have recently watched many rudder repair videos and almost all of them were skeg hung rudders, not spade rudders. I wonder what is going on here as we were taught that skeg hung rudders were more sound than unsupported spade rudders. Is it that they are all reaching an age that requires services or is there some defect that was unknown in them? Our dream bouat has a skeg (we have it written down) but now we are wondering...Zingoaro (oyster 485 had a bugger of a time with his skeg shoe). Any thoughts on this? We are wondering wheterh a spade rudder, well constructed, may be better as there are no moving parts sitting in water and hence, hothing to bind up.

When spade rudders are damaged, they are usualy broken off and lying at the bottom of the sea. Where as skeg hung rudders are damaged and still attached to the boat, and so may be repaired.

@@badpirate2326 ...interesting.. We tried to find videos on that an couldn't find any. Of course, there were several showing the spade rudder having bearing replaced and that sort of repair. But far more showing problems with skeg hung rudders and their many contact points needing repaired and then there is the auto pilot that seems to have gears wearing out under all that force. This is shaking our belief in the skeg approach... Not sure what to think but as of now we love skeg hung rudders.

My attitude to RU-vid (YT) premium could be more favorable. YT increases the number of ads until it becomes unbearable - blackmailing all viewers and simply making more money on the work done by the creators. Shame, greedy YT. Just my 2c.

Yup. I'm so bored with adverts every time I use ANY app! It's relentless and has the opposite effect on me. Same with channels ramming sponsorship at me. I'm a virulent anti-brand shopper, and I keep things till they stop working or wear out. I will not "upgrade" to the latest model just because the brand wants more money. 😡 Anyway, happy new year! 😂😆 Liz

I have been watching for a couple of years now. In fact, I just got the chance to retire and sold my business and home and hope to chase my dreams as well

We arrived in southeast Asia in 2013. Before that we were in Maldives, India, Red Sea and Europe. No plans to head west, there are still whole countries to visit here! And we love this side of the world. Peace and fair winds in 2024 🙏⛵ Liz
