We finally got our hands on a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392! The V8 470HP Monster of a Jeep!!
Enjoy a comprehensive review, 0-60 Pull, start up noise, and much more!
A couple things we missed in the video: That 392 cubic inch V8 is paired to an automatic 8 speed transmission that is VERY SMOOTH! It has Dana 44 front and rear axels. And it only has 4WD Part Time, and Full Time. No 2WD modes in the 392.

Congrats, she’s a beauty! Correction though on 7:50, the seats aren’t the same as regular JLs- the 392 seats have significantly bigger side bolsters. You won’t be able to use most regular JL seat covers.

Hey Ross! We are alive, but have had life get in the way of these videos. Hope to make more soon. As for my Mojave, I sold it at 12,000 miles and I loved them all and I regret selling it. But unfortunately no further update.

@@changinggearsmedia damn sucks to hear. Subscribed for more vids. Since jeep isn’t gonna put the 392 into the gladiator. If you had to choose the next powertrain for new gladiator would you go 4XE or tti6 (hurricane)?

Gotta be honest, It makes no sense when the Gladiator platform exists. More so when the Gladiator Mojave exists that already has the 392 cowling and hood. Longer wheelbase could make better use of the power, desert running and all that. The honest fact of the matter is if 285 horsepower causes a lack of traction while rock crawling, 470 won't help, if anything the additional weight makes it worse.

I think you’re right in the practical sense of the truck! I don’t think 470 HP made the Wrangler better at off-roading one bit. But I’m glad it exists for the thrill of it, and to pay homage to the hot rod jeeps that were a big part of automotive history!

I have a Glad Rubi V6 and would be interested to see how an all EV with the lower center of gravity due to batteries and higher torque of electric motors would be off road, but it still would not be as cool as hearing the 392 sound.

It’s a shame because at the price point this will NOT compete with the Bronco. I don’t under the point in making a vehicle to compete with another vehicle and then make it completely unaffordable

I agree but will argue the 392 really isn’t meant to compete with anything. It’s a novelty. I think the standard Wrangler Rubicon does a great job of competing with the Bronco. And if Ford ever does a Raptor Bronco (V8) I thinks likely it’ll be just as expensive.

@@changinggearsmedia I disagree with you there. The Ford Bronco was made to compete with the wrangler and keeps response was the 392. In my opinion that’s a great response bc as you mentioned, the wrangler is already dope. I just could not justify that cost……

@@kfm305 There was a place in Burnsville Minnesota that has been doing Hemi swaps on Wranglers for many years, I think Jeep thought they might as well make the money on them.
