Buying new built comes with various issues! If you can save more do so and buy older property, renovate to meet your desired standard.

I know them and took up the case with "my deposits scheme" and got my full deposit back. Your situation is standard "fair ware and tear" and they shouldn't have taken your money. Build your case if you still can. Sending you both hugs.

This happened to me. we lived one yr in a house and got burgled... so I mentally couldn't stay there anymore. On moving out, I had professional cleaners clean the property who left a stain on the carpet, I offered to get the cleaners back sameday but they said no, I asked again and they said no. come time to get our deposit, they claimed 1200 of 1500 for spot on carpet but I had recorded all my conversations and tendered it to the deposit company, I got all my money back...

Go through the deposit scheme tribunal, you will all the evidence that you can get of the state of the house when you moved and when you were moving out. The adjudicator will need to see this. There’s what’s allowable during the course of your living in the house and (wear and tear) that’s your landlord’s liability, not yours to pay for. Don’t simply give in or give up. Fight it the right way. You have a right to do so and to get back your deposit, as long as it’s just wear and tear, not damages. Good luck

They are all the same as these new builds. My husband had to get a poster and hold it up at their sales office to stop people from buying from them.

This happened to us when we were renting. With full evidence of before and after to the deposit scheme, we got our deposit back. I always advice anyone who is renting to make sure to do pictures and videos of the house before even moving in.

Eeyah.. sorry to hear that, it very sad with all the effort you guys put into making sure you left the house in a very good state. It’s an absolute fraud because deposit is for damages not for wear and tear like repainting. £700+ for painting a house that would probably need just one coat is ridiculous. Thank God you are in your property now.

When we just came to the UK, and this happened to us, I thought they were being unkind to us. They removed half of our deposit, 500GBP!!! Hearing it now makes me know that's one of the ish in UK. They said there was a stain in the bedroom. And it's 500pounds to repair it. Yes they work hand in hand I agree with you. No fairness at all

The first house we rented,we got half of the deposit ,we were so devastated,the second one was no deposit, we made sure to get professional cleaners and used white paint to touch here and there, we were surpised there were no charges.Also its good to always research about developers before buying a house,all those developers with many incentives ehnnn,just run faraway from them ooooo😂

Problem with new build. I dont think British Architects are fantastic most of the new houses are not properly built. Old houses modt of them are made with brick and mortar not snd are the best buy

I am staying there now and I understand that if you use it anyhow they will even charge you above your deposit. They charged someone about 2,500pounds above their 750pounds deposit. They are cheating people leaving the house and always take deposit. They need to be taken up formally!

Please go to shelter/citizen bureau and log a company. I had similar issue in 2012. The company holding the deposit said something. I fought it with them and at the end it was the agency trying to negotiate with me. I got ALL my deposit back. Please fight it not because of the money but because of the cheating ma and Sir.
