Ok, I have to say it: The Dark Brotherhood of Oblivion is 100x better than Skyrim. Every contract had so much more to it than "go here and kill this random person, here's 100 gold"

The depiction of Skooma addiction in Oblivion compared to Skyrim is so much more brutal. The developers in Oblivion did such a good job with the details.

Still amazed that they took the effort to write and voice all those negative disposition responses even though there isn't really a mechanic for players to stumble upon them.

I feel like this is the quest where they finally told Craig Sechler (the male elf voice actor), “Alright, go off the rails. Be as over the top as you want. Have fun!” and just let him go. I love it!

I always wondered why spiking his skooma with poison wasn't a potential method of taking him out. It would just look like an OD and wouldn't raise a red flag to Phillida

I love how the Oblivion Dark Brotherhood quests all have a requestor that you can find with a little detective work. Really adds to the world building.

I've never seen an NPC spring up from a paralysis spell like that. As always your videos reveal to me something I haven't seen in the past 16 years playing this game.

didn't even know you could become Faelians' "friend" in the quest, I just talked to the people at the inn and then followed him out of the hotel to the abandoned house picked the lock and killed him

I know Skooma is a magic drug that reduces intelligence and all, but something about Faelin just stuttering around his sentences like he's always high just seems so funny to me. Like he's never not super high.

It’s moments like these that remind me of the mood differences between Oblivion and Skyrim such as Oblivion having moments of genuine creepy/disturbing moments but usually having a colorful atmosphere same with the NPCS but Skyrim having a more Bleak setting since it’s set in a war torn time period and NPCS having to deal with grief. like even the overworld music for these two games are polar opposites from each other with Oblivion having a chill laidback summer vibe too it but Skyrim has an almost melancholic vocal track playing while you trudge through cold broken down remnants of buildings. heck the Morrowind/Dragonborn DLC overworld theme has a sort of Other worldly or land before time vibe in it's music to go with that mysterious and alien feel. And it's all Jeremy Soules fault for making these sublime soundtracks.
