i love the designs of cybertron, vector prime somehow manages to be both elegant and clunky, like beautifully crafted technology of a lost age, the clockwork aesthetic is… it’s just perfect, honestly
This came from a duel set that my brother got. I forgot what the other toy was in the box but if I remember correctly it may have been Starscream. We still have it in our toy box along with Safeguard (the minicon) and his sword. I do agree. The alt mode looks sick.
Short answer: yes we do. I wish they'd do a Nexus Prime based on the Combiner Wars molds, and there are plenty of recent-ish figures that would work for the rest of them.
I feel like the best way for the primes to put into the toy line is to make retools of the figures like iron works and cogs take them apart and add them to your other transformers with like retooled alt modes based somewhat on what we know there alt modes
Honestly, we need to. The fact that there's barely any prime figures for even the G1/Recent continuities is just mind-boggling. Sure, there's the titan masters, but I mean actual *good* figures for them.
Completely forgot this color scheme existed! I had a primarily black and brown paint scheme, and instead of gold the highlights were silver. Wish I could get a copy of this mold again
I mean, Cybertron in Japan had a lot of Primes, or Convoys. Nitro Convoy, Live Convoy.... can't recall the other guys' japanese names, but all the 'Planetary Leaders' were Convoys in Galaxy Force.
I'm not sure how frequently you read comments, but if you see this one then one Cybertron figure you absolutely should look at is Ransack. Out of the entire line he's my #1 with his only issue being the heels being a bit wonky. His articulation for being such a small figure is fantastic, his design and silhouette looks striking (at least to me), and he's just fun to play with. He doesn't have a flashy gimmick given it just flips out his weapon barrel/bike exhausts which you can just as easily extend without the key, but he's just such a fun, well-made pocket rocket, and I just seriously recommend you grab a copy of him for yourself. I stand by the figure so much I even have his green recolor.
I just tried to rewatch Cybertron a bit, I couldn’t get past episode 4 before I couldn’t take it. I felt like I was losing my mind and I can no longer stand the words cool or awesome
Probably one of the best Galaxy force/cybertron figures, when i see him for the first time i thought him can transform into something like a fire truck because of his helmet
I agree that we need more toys of the 13 primes. Correct me if I'm worng, but its even sad to think that ín the PRIME wars trilogy we never had a toy of any of them, and just to clarifiy I´m NOT counting the Prime Masters because, well, they are repainted titan masters. That doesn´t count. And instead Hasbro is giving us more Bumblebees.
I just rebought this guy, I had him as a kid. He is amazing, a true voyager. Sad to see just the size class has shrunk over the years. Cybertron set the standard for voyagers anything below that is a downgrade.
It's because nowadays, the classes don't dictate the size of the figure, but rather, their budget. The production cost of the figures is always rising, but they want to keep the prices within a certain level, so they decrease the size but make up for it in other areas, such as articulation, sculpting, transformation and paint job. Would I prefer that they kept the old size and implemented all the new standards? Absolutely!! Would it be too expensive? Probably. And I'm not saying the newer figures are better than the old ones, because, let's be honest, smaller sizes, brittle plastic and sloppy QC sucks quite a lot, but it can't be denied that not every change was for the worse. Ultimately, the newer figures aren't better or worse than the old ones, they're just different.
So that's why Vector Prime's mold was used for the Alpha Trion figure. Also, there was a Nexus Prime figure, but it was basically a retool of an ENERGON Bruticus Maximus combiner with some Superion Maximus limb-formers. That, and he was a TCC/TFSS?...an exclusive set. Good luck finding one that isn't going for a scalper's price...
Me too..Wish they featured more Primes with alternate modes! Prima/ Vector/ Alpha Trion/Liege Maximo- Cybertronian jets Quintus- Cybertronian flying saucer Megatronus- cybertronian tank Onyx- flying dragon ( beasthunters predaking repaint) Solus- cybertronian car Nexus- any autobot/decepticon combiner from combiner wars Amalgamous- can be a triple or six changer Alchemist- a gigantic 6 wheeled space rover Micronus- a cassette bot /con Optimus, the original - a cybertronian bus/truck like star convoy
The Vector Prime sound card is not broken. They really did sound that. I think it’s supposed to be an engine or his time warp thing. I still have my Universe VP somewhere in a storage box. I had a ton of fun with him as a kid.
Nexus Prime also got a combiner set that was released between 2005 and 2009 as individual parts, all convention exclusives. Maccadam, AKA Alchemist Prime, also got his own Build-a-Figure in Cyberverse. The Ark is based on The Last Autobot, who is considered one of the Thirteen Primes in SOME continuities. Logos Prime is just Cybertron Soundblaster, who in the Japanese Galaxy Force manga is one of the Thirteen. Sentinel isn't usually considered one of the Thirteen, though he is in the G1 Marvel Comics retroactively. So technically, we have 8 of the Thirteen who have toys that aren't non-head Headmasters. That leaves 5 more. EDIT: Alpha Trion is also one of the Thirteen, so we actually have 9 different Primes who have toys.
I honestly agree. We only have the 13th prime (optimus) optimal optimus and rodimus. The fallen./megatronus. And Alpha Trion. (Titans Return or the re deco of Vectors figure.) We even have Primus . and if you REALLY want to go to yhr depths. Alchemists Prime is Maccadam from Cyberverse which he has a build a figure of. We're still missing Prima Nexus Micronus (unless RID already made one) Liege Maximo and Solus
Nexus Prime got a toy... that almost no one can get a hold of. It was released as 5 different exclusives over the course of 5 years and three different toylines. They were all recolors of Energon combiner molds in clear plastic. PAIN.
A long time ago my aunt got me this transformers action figure he came a box with a decepticon as a set and the decepticon was Starscream, it sucks because this toy was taken from me when I was in middle school and I never got it back, sucky part is my aunt recently died of a stroke. She suffered from Alzheimer's I didn't know at tbe time because I haven't seen her in years but my dad got a call and the fallowing week it was in the news I haven't seen my cousin uncle or her in a long time so she must've developed it over the course of a while. It sucks because I remember her being so alert and so aware of the world around her, she was always wonderful to me and I wish I could've gotten the toy back it would've been nice to have both them together when I heard about it because it's like my Starscreem's just increased in value not only has the person who gave him to me been talked about on the news but she's gone now and that toy is like an heirloom of good times. It just sucks that I don't have my Vector Prime anymore especially sense he was my favorite 1 of the 2, and u are right the minicon on the original was all white mine was the original, and the sword was even that full translucent blew, this 1 also looks matted white mine had a sheen to it.
Not one of the Thirteen from the Covenant of Primus, but it was later clarified in an Ask Vector Prime column that Logos Prime was one of the original Multiversal Thirteen, with the Aligned timeline (the one in which the published Covenant takes place) being a weird splinter timeline that has its own set of Thirteen Primes... for some reason.
@@OptimusPhillip Multiversal singularity, Aligned continuity also known as Uniend Cluster was in a sort of bubble seperated from the rest of the multiverse thus it had its own 13 but the Dark Spark pierced the bubble thus there were more than 13 primes in the multiverse once then the SHroud happened which made singular beings into dozens across the multiverse so you can have a unicron that's good while other unicrons are still evil since he is no longer a singularity
so yeah the sound for the cyber key is how its supposed to sound. power of the primes was absolutely a missed opportunity to not give us more primes. even if they made it online or convention exclusives. imagine if they made the prime master figures and an exclusive had all the other primes with a spot for their respective prime masters to form their own matrix.
I bought the brown version a few years back, used, and also without the sword (I guess his sword is like the 2007 Leader Optimus' smokestacks: always missing on 2nd hand figures!) and I REALLY think it's a great figure! You could throw it at a wall and destroy the wall! And the sculpted detail is incredible, I actually considered panel lining it. The articulation is great for such a chonky figure too. They totally could've made a bunch of Prime figures in PoTP, that was such a clueless toyline, I don't get what Hasbro's intention was with that line.
You left out Sentinel Prime (Titans Return, "pretool" of Astrotrain) & Alpha Trion (Titans Return, "pretool" of Broadside, retroactively revamped in IDW as one of the Primes; there was also a convention exclusive one that's a retool & repaint of Vector Prime). There's also the cheesy way out, being the Prime Masters from Power of the Primes, and you can use Siege Shockwave as a stand-in/true form for Onyx Prime. But as far as proper individuals, you're absolutely right, we do need more toys of the other Primes.
Kinda makes me sad that I wasn't around at the time of the Unicron Trilogy, specifically for Cybertron. Everything I've heard about the Cybertron toy line is stellar and the toys all look incredible even today. Still really want to get my hands on an original Cybertron Optimus Prime although he is ridiculously expensive nowadays.
If you can't find one at a reasonable price, they did reuse the mold of that toy for a War For Cybertron: Siege release under the title of... I believe "Galaxy Force"? I dunno if he comes with a Cyber Key, but from the stock images I've seen, he pretty much functions the exact same as the Cybertron toy.
@@MasterUltraBall you're thinking of Galaxy Upgrade Optimus Prime. He does not, however, come with a cyber key. He's pretty much just an Ultra Magnus Retool with a bit of pizazz on him.
@@MasterUltraBall Yeah I did see that figure a while back, he's a good representation of the original figure, but even he goes for a pretty penny nowadays.
I have Cybertron 2005 Optimus Prime. He’s the holy grail of my transformers figures. It’s sad that they don’t build transformers figures like they used to. The Cybertron 2005 line has awesome figures that are show accurate, large, and packed with unobtrusive gimmicks.
You forgot to mention the missile launcher as well & yes the sound for the key is meant to sound that way just some weird AF grinding sounds but the wings aren't meant to be possible tho Edit: my safe guard belly button peg broke off on the peg in the cape/cockpit but he still works tho
Unfortunately, the closest we got to have all the primes is the power of the primes, which sucked...we didn't even get transforming figures of the primes that actually showed in the web series, just a headmasters copy
Its been a hot minute since I've seen this toy. When I found out the 13 primes were a thing and Vector Prime was made one of these 13 I thought that was neat since I loved him in Cybertron.
Agreed! I'd love to see maybe one Voyager- or Leader-Class Prime released at standard retail per quarter, over about three years. Nothing to really flood the market or break the wallet. Y'know, like they did with the deluxe Seekers back in the day, so EVERYONE had a chance at getting them all. I missed out on that original release of Vector Prime, but I've got the brown-and-black version. Fun video! Thaknk you!
Their are some toys of the other 13 primes out there. Alpha Trion has 3 kinds of toys, you already have Megatronus to an extent, Alchemist is a build-a-figure in a cyberverse line and Nexus has a collectors club figure.
Yes, but Nexus was also only available in individual parts one year each and if you missed out on any, you have very little chance of getting them because 1) they are not common, 2) they are very expensive when you can find them (over $100 US EACH), and 3) they are cast almost entirely in fragile clear plastic.
I’ve always wanted this figure. I only have the legends of cybertron version. As for getting more figures of the primes, I still really want to see an IDW1 Nova Prime figure. That is such an interesting design, and would make for a really cool toy.
I love how you are noticeably an well rounded fan of TF, many of these channels are off scale because of an child hood disappointment. But you mention the moments, and important notes from the series corresponding. And tbh, I love Cybertron. Also, TFP 10/10 an emotional masterpiece. And I can’t tell if you say “Robot” as an classic term, or if you are an voltron fan…🤢😭
WAYYYYY back in the day as a kid I watched this show on Cartoon Network every day and it was my favorite show. My first transformer was cybertron soundwave
