Nice to see you working from home! This is not a look that I would want for my smart car, but I firmly believe that Smart cars are all about having a bit of fun, and it certainly looks like you guys are having a bit of fun. The 450 was built with a lot of rust protection but at that age it will have a few areas under the plastic panels that will need attention to prevent perforation, I know mine did and mine looks like new on the outside. Also there is some poor design around the wheel arch liners that can cause corrosion where the fixings are. Keep having fun !
I am just back from America, where I helped my son with his Halloween decorations. I had to make some abandoned lift doors out of foam - The abandoned Hollywood Hotel. He had some really easy paint that rusted. It was black and needed stirring every time, as the iron filings quickly sank to the bottom . It was paint it on, wait 20 minutes for it to dry, then spray wit with a bright blue activator, which looked looked copper sulphate. It was brilliant and rusted within 20 minutes. To get other effects like the rust running down, we mixed some of the paint with the activator to make it very runny and dribbled it on the foam doors. That worked really well too and it really went bright orange. For the side panels, I laid them on the ground and simply spattered them with mixtures of various strengths. It was amazingly real. cheap plastic drainpipes, where instantly transformed into old rusty metal. New props were instantly aged.

Cool as funk I have some bad lacquer peel on my bug I’ve bought, this stuff IS the answer. I’ll pop vids on my channel. It’s 17/7/22. Going to get some ordered right now.
This is a great video. Thank you for sharing. May I ask if the paint will cause actual rust on the frame or metal body parts? I have Fj Cruiser and want to try this rugged look. But worrisome if this would cause actual rust on the body. What is your opinion?
Hi there. Watched this video and now bought a tin for my van. Can I just ask, you mention that it keeps on rusting if you let it. Then you talk about waxing it to stop it rusting further. Surely there's only so much it can do? And what wax would one use? Thank you.
powerfulukltd Good work...I have only four but my Jaguar is trapped on a hoist at JLR Heritage part way through a full mechanical refresh and now caught up in the virus close down...it might be October...so 8 months for a “Service”!!!😀😀
I'm glad you didn't do it to a real car, it's a smart car, a box with wheels. Must admit it looks rusty but I would hang myself if my car looked like that. I liked Rolf Harris in the 60s and 70s like you. Keep safe.
Take a nice solid expensive car and treat it with just a little of this, wheel arches, cills, door bottoms, below the lights etc. as a theft deterrence.
