All of you are truly Blessed to have each other. I admire the closeness of the kids and their Happy Go Lucky Attitude. This comes from Good Parenting so I commend you both for the effort you have put forward to raise your children properly. And the '52 is pretty cool too.

After using ricip saws for decades, one finds they are easy to straighten just using your fingers and hands with great results. No need to belittle the operator for getting it jammed, just let him learn to straighten the thing.
@chadsfab
@chadsfab Год назад
Kenner's straightening of the blade was edited out (Kyler didn't turn the camera to follow him) but he did try and he got it fairly straight, but with his second attempt it bent again so Chad went to straighten it. The teasing comment about keeping it straight was after a challenge Kenner made to dad to see if he could keep it straight, sadly the whole comment wasn't on camera so didn't make the edit cut either. There's a lot of banter going back and forth but with shop noises we often miss out on some of it 😉 - Stacie

Good to mock up and test fit everything first . When my son was in HS he/we bought project truck (50 Ford F1) to work on. We got it in parts, we pushed the cab and chassis in the garage and put the rest of the parts out back. We went all over the chassis, modified the ride height (lowered), did some custom work on the cab and got it ready for paint. When we got the engine in we brought the the fenders in, couldn’t wait to see how she set. On a 48-52 Ford F1-F3, there is 7 pieces that make up the front clip, 9 counting the inner fenders, grille upper and lower support, and upper and lower fender halves. Someone before us had welded all these together and done a lot of “body work “, (bondo). We set it on and stood back to look. On the passenger side the fender opening just cleared the top of the 205x15’s, the front was about 6” off the ground, but when we looked at the driver side it looked like a 4 wheel drive, about 5-6” of wheel clearance. It took me a little bit to figure it out, but they had welded a F3 (3/4 or 1 ton) fender on made for 17-18” wheels. It took a while to find a good F1 left fender but it gave us time to grind out all the bad bondo and clean up the welds. P.S. The truck never got finished. He graduated, did other projects, marriage, kids, and life struggles. Long story short I got the truck a couple years ago, (started all over) re- rebuilt the motor, and pretty much redid everything. Fired the motor a few weeks ago and all that’s left is to paint the bed and rear fenders. Hope to hit the road this summer.

Just one thing that aye trips my curiousity, where did this great couple come up with the (to me, odd) names for their boys? Here's the link to that video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RGZad-Um_Fs.html Also here's a bit more info.. Kehin's name is one I thought I was making up, only to have Chad tell me later it's a brand of carburetors😂 I originally waned to name him Kegin but Chad totally saw his nick name being Keg or Kegger so we changed it up 😉 Kaden is a more easily known name Kenner is shortened from McKenner which is a Scottish name. Used that as a reminder of my Grandpa McCoy who went by Mac and I had heard someone call a McKenner Mac and that sold me. Especially since I could adjust it to fit with the K's we had going on Kyler comes from a friend who made it as a K suggestion after she met and officer in Lehi who's first name was Kyler. Korbin is a name I loved but also we have a good friend who named his son Corbin so we kind of named him after him not realizing that soon after our Korbin was born we'd have that family closer and be around Corbin a lot more. So Korbin became Little man and the other Corbin became Big Corbin. -Stacie

@@chadsfab a wee bit of background information, you may find interesting or amusing. I'm Scottish living in Scotland. As you explain the derivation of your boys names, there are some Scottish facets that you may or may not be aware of. The Clan McKenna is a common family in both Scotland and Ireland. The Mac prefix in Scots means 'son of' ie son of Kenna. At school I had a classmate called Kevin McKenna. The Irish version of Kevin is I understand Keogh(kee-ow). Spellings and pronounciations do tend to get messed around in the US, but I've mentioned that already. McCoy eg in Scotland is McKay (pr: Mic-Eye) Imagine it spoken in a Scottish accent. In Scotland a 'kyle' is what we call a straight or narrows of water between two pieces of land. Since Kylee Minogue became famous lots of kids are now Kyles. My godson is called Kyle. My best pal at school I called Kyle, his surmane. Lyle is a Lowland Scottish corruption of the Norman French L'isle (of the island). Corbyn was originally derived from the Old French word "corbeau," which means "raven", folk with black hair were often nicknamed Corbyn. Corbetts on the other hand are Scottish mountains recorded being over 2500ft in height. A Munro is a mountain over 3000ft. There is a sport here called 'Munro bagging', that involves climbing all of the 283 registered Munros. Once that is complete, the addicted may choose to go on to climb all 219 Corbetts. It's what over here we Scots might call 'rock crawling', well rock scrambling actually. 😉 Thankyou for taking the time out to respond to my query, I very much appreciate it.
@chadsfab
@chadsfab Год назад
@@gordonmurray3153 That's awesome!! I wasn't aware of any of those Scottish facets. When Kaden served in England he heard that Cyler is also a well known Welsh name. We had a stock Chevy pickup in MI back in the ‘60s. I learned how to drive a stick on it in my big front yard. Don’t knock the straight 6 engine. We threw cement blocks in the back and drove all over town in a heavy snowstorm that closed down town. It didn’t have enough power to break the tires loose but we could drive anywhere through the snow. Have fun with yours!

That build reminds me of a build I did for a friend of mine about 20 years ago. He had a 52 Chevy pickup that was sort of hot roded. The original hack had made a mess out of the chassis and the body had lots of rust. He found a 48 5 window cab to replace his rusted out 52. At the same time I did a Camaro front frame clip to get rid of the amc pacer hacked in mess. Any way the build snow balled as most do once started. The truck turned out great. It drove rode and handed so much nicer than the first guy that build it. It had the right stance for that hot rod look. And drove really nice. I always liked that vintage Chevy trucks.

Looks like a kool project, gonna be an exceptional build, & ride. Lots of folks are gonna be envious... Its also nice that everyone can dream of a personal memory, not to mention the family involvement, into a (hopefuly) lifetime possession... Looks as tho they are all being lead to personal ethics, that any parent could be proud of, well done! As an old woodbutcher, have found with sazall blades a hammer & block/anvil seems to straighten them out better. Plus I spray them with silicone spray, seems to reduce the friction & heat, but... Its all a learning priocess, lol! Thanx !

Thanks for the new video Chad's family. I hope you had some time to get caught up a little. Seeing that chrome grill I think Paul is going to be a little bit jealous! The thing about picking the early fifty's truck as a project is with the modification's it is a easy build! Good luck on all of the builds the boys have going on.

It's a '51, because '52's had 5 window cabs, with 2 corner windows in the back corners of the cab.

I have been a part of a few of these builds and they have been mostly fun. Readily available parts and info the 12 bolt is a cool bonus. Central California watching

Kenner is super excited about this and he's been collection parts (the he's paying for) for the last few years just to do it. He got a little overwhelmed thinking about all he had to cut out of those inner fenders he'd paid for. That too says a lot.

So when are we lowering the seat or raising the roof in big brothers truck so he's not doing a "Harry and the Henderson's" too often in there. Kenner might make that a surprise and do it while big brothers not looking. I think Chad knows what he's getting into... More wiring, what else! Best!

I was curious why you wouldn't just make inner fenders! Should've known you would explain

If we made inner fenders we would lose all of the cool body lines within them

It's okay if the cab's a little bit. I just means better visibility while driving. 😉
