This was my second air fryer ru-vid.comUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB . The last one worked fine but was large and a bit loud. This one is outstanding. It is smaller overall but still has plenty of capacity. It crisps the food better. You don't get one side soggy if you forget to turn it over. It is pretty quiet, easy to use, easy to clean, and works great. It chimes to alert you to functions, like when to turn over food that benefits from that. The automatic pre-heat is great. The display is large and easy to read, the light inside is actually useful. The window is worth the extra $10. It looks good sitting out on my counter. I haven't been this happy with an appliance for a long time. Good value for money.
Go back and watch the first couple episodes and the are so sheepish about cussing. It's like shit...oops! Now it's Motherfucking this and Motherfucking that. It's a serious character arc happening ;-)
OMG. This was one of the best videos. I literally laughed out loud when Alton said...'Bull shit. I call Bull shit' Thanks, Alton, for helping me survive the pandemic.
Why have I waited so long to watch you two? You're adorable and hilarious! Even after watching you for years and seeing your live show twice, it's a totally new experience. Alton unscripted is an absolute delight.
@Alton Brown ... for future reference. Don't delete, just change to Private in RU-vid Studio. That way, you retain the view counts, comments, and other metrics you need for monetization & algorithm-based promotion. You can still post edited versions etc too.
Food Network UK doesn't show Alton/GE, so the more YT he does the better as far as I'm concerned 😉 If 2020 taught us anything, a live YT stream from someone talented easily beats an overly produced TV show.
Advantages so far: Elizabeth, being able to curse, live music, Elizabeth, Scabigail, being able to say brand names, the Brown kitchen, ninja kimchi, and Elizabeth.
I like to think that when I was a waiter I could have encountered him at the bar, and after an ego duel would have had an unexpected and enlightening conversation. Why an ego duel? Chef vs waiter. This is true spy vs spy stuff when you get to high enough houses. An ego duel with Alton might require light sabers. Or at least "not a flame throwers." Oh, and of course we love Elizabeth. If nothing else, and there is else, she's the girl that's got the eye of someone we all fawn over. She makes him happy, that makes us happy.
so glad l found this, have always enjoyed watching Alton ever since the beginning of Good Eats. This is fantastic, down to earth and what a great couple, keep up the great work
I have not laughed this hard in a long time. Totally takes me back to hanging in the prep kitchen backstage talking cooking. The quarantine series is just way too much fun. Great to see you smiling and making the best of a bad situation AB.
Good resource for knife video and a giant selection of knives of all types is BladeHQ.com. I'm not an employee or affiliated with them in any way, just a fan.
Either a bit less cauliflower, or when shaking the foods make sure to rotate the foods well. Other thing is you didn’t cook it 20 minutes, you cooked it 17 minutes (if you cook for 20 minutes and you preheat for 3 minutes you need to have time as 23 minutes.) Honestly though, the temp and time is something that one needs to figure out, as listed time n temp doesn’t always cook it right.
The recipe called for a head, they used less... 3 minutes is the difference between "raw" and "cooked"? I already have a convection oven, and I can easily open it up and shke or stir stuff, but seemingly on a order of magnitude greater in volume, and significantly better in quality. I mean, If I were in a college dorm room, this *might* be passable for beer-inspired late night "food".
@@michaelcarey9359 1. A "head" of cauliflower is not a standardized unit of measurement, so it will vary from head to head, 2. Food tends to cook following an exponential function. As water evaporates when cooking, more and more heat goes into directly cooking the food and changing the texture etc. Most of this happens in the last 5 minutes of cook time. Have you ever put bread under a broiler? Not much happens in the first half minutes, but the last half minutes makes the difference between burnt and browned.
Oh WOW!! I missed so much last night. This episode was SO funny! I loved all of it. Bonus, it reminded me of one of the first yums thing I made in my small convection appliance....."Fried" dill pickle spears. A little flour, Panko crumbs, seasoned salt, pepper and smoked paprika, spritz with just a bit of oil. Geez-o-man, as good as in a pricey restaurant! I had totally forgotten. You need to keep the batches small, especially in my case, but well worth it to me. Going to make some tomorrow! Thanks AB.
Great to find your channel Alton. Your kitchen antics helped make me the contrarian cook I am today. I can't go into someone's kitchen w/out noticing all the single taskers sitting around or explaining how mass influences energy transfer. Thanks for fanning that inner geek in so many of us and making cooking more than charcoal and microwaves. Looking forward to binging for the next 6 months of lockdowns.
OK, you got me as a new subscriber! I love Alton and this is the first one of these that I've seen! I've got your books and DVDs that you've been part of, and I love your focus on science and the details of cooking. You both are too cute together... I LOVE it!
OMGoodness, I haven't laughed so hard in a while. I have the Ninja foodi (pressure cooker and air fryer combo), and I love it. But watching your reaction to this just made my day. Love your videos (and you shows ).
Great video! I have been saying this about air fryers since they came out. If you can carve out anytime give my steak seared on a shovel a watch. I even do a sauce. Thanks for the great content over the years. Been a fan from way back.
A: Who would want to eat a fried brownie? Me:*literally* raises hand A: that doesn't live in Iowa Me: slowly lowers hand Didn't know us Iowans were so predictable 🤣
I remember Romper Room. I was on it in 1972 when I was 3. I remember making TP Roll core Birdseed & Peanut Butter Bird feeders. That's all I really remember of it. That and all of the cameras. After the show taped, we would go to the next studio over and watch Skip and Woofer.
Just wanted to thank you for QQ. It has gotten me through some dark days. I look forward to hanging out with you on Tuesday nights. Your repartee reminds me of some of the smart couples my husband and I have known over the years. You guys are lovely.
"When have you ever pushed the button that the engine didn't start?!" he says, offended at his wife's insinuation. OMG, I cannot stop laughing! Love this interaction between them.
You two are just the most adorable together, you are inappropriate, and offensive, and you don't care who knows it. Thank the binary lord of all things digital that someone still has the guts to be unfiltered in this day in age!!
When air fryers first were coming out I looked into them and came to the conclusion that it was just a glorified convection oven. I then decided it wasn't worth buying.
I have been so busy and meaning to watch you for ages. I saw you live about two years ago and it was amazing. I wish I started watching this earlier you and Elizabeth are awesome! This is the best episode I’ve watched so far!! You would have carried me through Covid way better than much of what I watched
41:00 It is at this time that I have realized, I would not be starr struck in the kitchen with Mr. Alton Brown but rather....laughing my dammed head off and just as comfortable as you'd please. Oh, ha ha ha, we needed this and didn't even know it. Thank you for opening up. Such good times.
I am a good Do Bee. Unfortunately, that’s not what people hear me calling myself when I say that aloud. There may have been offers to smoke me. Definitely odd looks.
@@calichef1962 You're right! I googled it because I wasn't 100% sure. It began in Baltimore/US and was syndicated & franchised all over the world, including Canada. Its not really a Canadian concept, I've found.
@@rhondatennent6496 That's really good to know! When I was a little kid every local TV station had children's programming in the mornings and after school hours. I loved Kaptain Kangaroo more than anything and I was very relieved when I got afternoon kindergarten so I could still watch! I remember being *very* upset when I started first grade because I didn't think I'd ever get to see Kaptain Kangaroo again! I forgot about summers, holidays and sick days.
I can do up french fries in my Cosori brand frier in less than 15 minutes. I have learned to think outside of the cook book, which does take some trial and error. BUT I can cook up a mean fish n' chips with a lot more ease, and with less dishes.
I grew up going to school and coming home watching Good Eats and Emeril on Food Network, and granted both had an influence, you and Good Eats are the whole reason I love to cook and wanted to cook, you combined science, fun, and food together. You are the reason I brine my turkey in some fashion (i usually dry brine because it's convenient wherever I am just leaving it overnight) I also have an obsession with buying turkey in the offseason because for me it is economical and broken down can last for a good while. Alas, I've gone on a tangent, and I really just wanted to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart and soul thank you for inspiring me to cook.
Thank you! I tell everyone that talks about their air fryers that you don't fry with air! This is magnificent. You guys are great. Keep em coming. It's like watching family. Do need to know what you're mixing to drink, though. Love you guys.
Huge fan of this fuck good eats with PC language. Make every video this way. Alton, you have guided me through every holiday meal over the past 5 years.
@@j.p.morris9862 And obviously Blur... Shallot that I think was based on Dead sexy and I've recently gotten a small cute Eros SS card even with its pocket clip on the wrong end :-)
I gotta admit I lol'd hard at the disclaimer. Make sure to have the silicone tipped tongs next week; i'm sure they make a huge difference in the shaking! (plus wings are heavier, so it's easier to turn them that way)
Omg I just found you and your wife's show today. I have watched Good eats for a long time and didn't end up getting to watch food network for a while so I was looking for your shows to watch on you tube today and found this. I just love it. You two are so entertaining and fun to watch !!
This is me with an air fryer. Seriously. I've been trying to figure out for ages why in the hell I should have an air fryer when I have a convection setting on my toaster.
