When I was really poor in the 1980's I gleaned a potato field of unmarketable potatoes. I picked one that was as big as a bowling ball, took it home and made potato burritos. It fed 5 of us easily. We also picked enough potatoes to last a very long time. Now that I am a low carb eater I dream of those potatoes.
I visited the museum in '88. At that time their motto was "FREE tators for out of staters". The baked potatoes weren't ready yet, so we got free potato ice cream. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
I know how it is to backtrack on a toad trip, but guys! This was soooo fun and I’m glad you brought us along!!! About three minutes in, I’m like “OH YEAH!!!! The potatoes, cuz they ate two weeks of potatoes!” LMAO 😂 well done on the extra effort to make this video! 💛💛💛
What an AWESOME 👏🏻 video on potatoes 🥔 I NEVER KNEW! I AM SERIOUS ❤️ I Love the history of the potato 🥔 Thank You for sharing ❤️🥳😎 Blessings from Green, Ohio 🌱🌱
Fun to see this museum again. We visited before we were WFPB. The first time we went to Idaho we were asked at a restaurant whether we wanted fresh or frozen French fries with our meal which cracked us up. We got fresh and they were yummy. Air fried for us now!
Love this video...so interesting and you guys are naturals with the narration. I grew different varieties of potatoes last year and they were so delicious. Thanks so much for doing this.
Next time my husband and I drive through Idaho, we will definitely check that place out. Thank you for taking us with you for the tour! When I’m out and needed to eat something, I’d ordered two absolutely plain baked potatoes at Wendy’s. You should see those people that works there thinking I was out of my mind! 🤣😂🤣😂
As I am watching this, Jessica, dear! What color eyes do you have??? Gorgeous! You look like a doll! Okay back to watching! Darn! Now I want to collect potato mashers! See that made me sad that you had a plain potato! The fun of potatoes is all the mayo and the cream and the toppings. IMHO 😂🤣 when Jessica said “potato” in minion voice, I lost it! Superb! 🤣😂🤣😂
I had never thought that there could be a museum dedicated to showing the history of the potato. Quite interesting and funny 😄. I felt a little bit sad for the people who run this museum and the cafe because it must be hard to survive with so few people visiting during this pandemic.
Hi, I’ve been bingeing on baked Yukon gold potatoes- sooo good. Found out Martha Stewart just released a recipe for them. For the record I discovered before she did 😂
HI Brian and Jessica. I am from Idaho, born and raised and I too have been to that Museum. I am so glad you enjoyed your time. My last name is Brock, so very close to Krock. Just thought I would mention that. I love your channel and I too am going to plant based the first day of winter, December 21st, 2020. Wish me luck!!! Lars
This reminds me of one of the first dishes I ate as an au pair in Paris. Haché Parmentier. I still make it but with veggies often left over veggie stew of some kind.
Love the pototao facts and museum. Knew you eat potatoes but just plain. But it worked for you guys. I love jacket potatoes and will be popping a metal skewer into the next ones. In the interest of science.
We went a bit out of our way to go there last year!! Lol!!! To this day, we sing the potato song that those creepy cellar potatoes sang over and over and over. Can't help it. If we're eatin' potatoes, we're singin' the song. When you find other people who've been there, you'll bond over the shared experience. It's like a very exclusive, somewhat nerdy club. 🥔🥔🥔
What about the Museum made Jessica so happy? Do it again. Such a lovely smile she truly looks happy. Not faking it till she makes it. Want happiness for her. Brian you make your own happiness ha ha
You guys are a trip! Great vid and looks like a really cool place for us plant eating folk. Thank you so much for posting, this was just the kind of clean & fun content I needed to start my weekend out right. Glad you enjoyed it :)
Jessica’s face while hamming it up while eating the potato made me literally laugh so hard I had to stop the video! Such a natural! Another great video! Thanks Krocks for sharing your trip!
I seem to remember at school in England that the explorer Sir Walter Raleigh brought potatoes back to Ireland and gave plants to Queen Elizabeth 1, unfortunately they cooked the poisonous leaves and so were banned from the royal court.
Okay, this was fantastic! I was born in Idaho but moved to Utah at a young age. We would often visit my grandparents there. Each summer when we drove into Idaho, my dad would find a potato farm off the side of the road and pull over, walk into a potato patch, pull up a potato, rub the dirt off on his pants, and take a bite. I know, weird, but that was my dad. I need to tour that museum in his honor! 💕 Thanks for the memory.
Jessica, I think You either miss quoted Eat To Live pg.216 on beans: are limited to Goal: 1 Cup daily. This is under Unlimited but Beans, legumes, bean sprouts, & tofu (goal:1 Cup daily) does this mean limited to 1 cap daily or Unlimited but The goal is 1 cup daily? If this is on the 6week plan then when does The goal of 1 cup began. Or what is the Whole meaning???🤔
Wait! Wait, wait wait, back up a moment.... Potato ice cream? No! Really? And you didn't try it? I know, probably a load of sugar and dairy. I sense a Brian Cooking Challenge.
During vacation was Jessica less Jessica and more relaxed? I hope she was able to ENJOY. Jessica you deserve some downtime and a c HD dance to exhale...
