Thank you Cody for recognizing how shitty it is to deal with alcoholics. Everyone acts like they're so cool and so fun to be around and such party animals, but it's not fun to deal with one all the time, every day. My dad was an alcoholic for a good few years and those were the worst years of my fucking life. I never felt safe when he was drunk - and during that period he would get drunk every DAY. He especially loved to pick on me and be very abusive towards me because I struggled to hide when i was upset or stressed out. And it was even scarier when he got mad. I'm talking he'd threatened my life multiple times. Thankfully he doesn't drink anymore, but those years still stick with me. I still don't feel safe around drunk people.

At my best friend's wedding their distant relative, (who works as a horse race announcer who speaks super fast), did an uninterrupted eight minute speech where he'd scripted an entire pretend horse race using all the bride's family members as different horse names, rapidly announcing the entire event while everyone sat waiting in dead silence giving wry glances to each other before the "horse" named after the bride finally won the "race".

I had water bottles on stand-by and fruit snacks/cookies in my purse. I also bullied them the whole reception to make sure they ate real food and drank lots of water.

I was the ring-bearer at my uncle's wedding when I was about 10 years old. They gave me the rings first thing in the morning before the final rehearsal, where I was responsible for them until the actual ceremony. They entrusted a literal child with 2 wedding rings for over 12 hours and no one even asked me about them a single time. Thankfully for them I would frantically check the box every 30 seconds because apparently the only person who realized that the 10 year old shouldn't have this much responsibility was the 10 year old.

I was at a friends wedding, and the venue was like attached to a super fancy restaurant and a bar and an event center or something. So there were a lot of people walking by all night and they could see this massive wedding going on. So throughout the entire night, people were trying to sneak in to get free drinks. Which, I guess if you’re the ones sneaking it, it could be kind of funny, but when you’re constantly trying to keep a lookout all night and are forced to kick countless people out of your own wedding, you get pretty sick and tired of it really fast. And the couple should not have to worry about that on their wedding day. I have no sympathy for wedding crashers, although I don’t know if I ever would have had an opinion on it until I saw it happen in person. So I understand why someone would think it’s not a big deal.
