Thanks for this video. I couldn’t find other videos describing how to fix this exact problem through this method, so I appreciate it!

Thanks for the comment. It is a real problem if you play golf in the desert. It really does improve the ding.

Thank you for this vid!! I've been devastated with a large ding in my 60 Scratch wedge and couldn't bring myself to sand/file it off. Can't wait to try this.

Virtually, a great job. In theory however, wedges are specifically engineered with precise bounce, toe angle, drag, etc… in mind. The balance point and center of gravity is being altered by removing even millimeters which is evident based on this video. It’s just an overall aesthetically pleasing process, but performance wise, you are far better off buying a new wedge. Even a bargain bin wedge will perform better than this if it hasn’t been sanded down.

What I've learned so far: stones > hammers

I did the same thing, but put the club on a block of wood while hammering.

Brilliant job but i assume it was a raw wedge and not chrome. Shotblasting the face would also add to the aesthetics and improve performance 😊

Correct, i generally stay away from chrome or plated wedges.

Any advice on adding material to a chip in the same spot on the bottom of the club? I have a 9 iron that has a rock chip/ding and it's more a cavity than just deformed and can't really be hammered. I was thinking sanding it down, but it would take of a lot of material.

Have to weld it. Use similar metal when welding, carbon steel w carbon. Stainless with stainless. Flanigan built on Instagram welds clubs all the time to remove lettering.

@@bradreef man..... that's a lot of work. It's literally a few pin holes and is measly cosmetic. I was thinking I could fill it with a putty or something that just filled in the holes.

Nice tutorial. Question, can you use heat like from a torch to help soften and shape the metal?
@bradreef
@bradreef 2 года назад
I doubt it. You would have to get it extremely hot.

How did the club perform after compared to before?
@bradreef

It definitely has more bite around the greens. It's not crazy different on full shots.

Where did you get your groove tool, and do you like it?

Amazon, eBay, probably most golf stores or websites

@@bradreef Hi and thanks.. I was mostly curious about the durability of the tool. Does it stay sharp.. I did order two from different sources.. One from Amazon, where it was coming from China with a very long shipping time.. over two weeks.. Then I found one at Walmart, and they said delivery was a week.. However, it turns out Walmart shipping was about two weeks also. So it appears no one in the states has one on the shelf, not even any online golf stores.. Which makes me curious.. Is there something 'illegal' or 'unethical' about re-sharpening grooves.. Why don't the golf stores carry this item? Anyway looking forward to playing around with it whenever they get here..
@bradreef
@bradreef 3 года назад
@@Swede109g there is definitely a question when resharpening. You can cheat and make the grooves huge. That is why i do very minimal passes and i use a smaller size that i measured with my digital caliper to know its withing legal limits.

As far as availability? Or source, i think golf industry is behind as a whole on products simce covid, and these all likely come from china. I have bought from 2 different sources and both worked fine
