the guy who plays wee-bey was one of the best in the series. i mean, he murders gangsters and innocents alike. he's even cavalier about it, as if it's all in a day's work...but he's also smart enough to know you dont kill cops
I think it's more an admiration. I mean, Wee Bey is obviously VERY intelligent, and he's loyal to his friends and his code. Yeah, maybe that code is fucked up, but he adheres to it even when it costs him his freedom, because he knows he willingly got himself in this game.

Wee-Bay is the realest nigga on the show, point-blank period. And him remembering to take that Gant Murder after Bird already went down for it was smart.
this was the scene that got me into the wire. i had never watched a single episode and i caught this scene while channel surf one night. i knew right away the show was the shit!
Weebay said he shot Gant in the side of the head, Gant was actually shot in the face. So they knew he was lying about that, or something like that, he said something that didn't match up with Gant's murder
Weebey was going to get life without parole for all the murders he actually did do, meaning his sentence was going to be the same. So he's just confessing to all the murders possible (even the ones he didn't do) to get everyone else off the hook if he could. Remember this scene is before Bird's trial, so he's doing it to try to protect Bird from being jailed for it. In a later scene, Bunk mentions that Bey got the details of Gant's murder totally wrong, indicating he didn't actually do it.
Wee Bey didn't kill Gant. Wee Bey was just a soldier riding for his crew taking charges he didn't even commit. He knew he would never see the light of day again so he said fuck it. Wee Bey the most loyal nigga in the WIRE SERIES!!!!
That wasn't referenced directly but Bird didn't get out. Either they found a way to prove Bey was lying, which Bunk knew anyway, or Bird had other bodies.

Best character on the show.....I don't know about that. Wee Bey is awesome but I wouldn't say hes the best. Omar, McNulty and how can you forget about Stringer......those are the top three for sure.
Wee-Bey is the only character in The Wire who survived two shoot-outs with Omar (first one when Omar drops Stinkum, second when Omar tries to shoot Avon). That's how gully he was.
