Women aren't stupid. She knows her brother. She probably changed his diapers. She got all the information she needed from this little session and it confirmed her suspicions. Stringer could only fool the ignorant. She was not ignorant. But he has not plan B for his BS, so he keeps following through with it as if it's working.
Dayum i ain’t never noticed she was in the wire from snowfall; memory slippin, major. Avon had no empathy for stringer death because he played too many away games and he bleed green. Stringer and prop Joe really were slimy snakes 🐍. Them boys tried to play the game with book smarts when it required street smarts response. When their plan fail,’like snakes they set somebody up or create unnecessary drama.
Stringer & Avon were oblivious to anything outside their own field of vision. That's why all the gangsters in the barksdale crew kept trying to tell stringer the streets were still relevant but he didn't wanna listen, so the streets ate his ass. Avon dumbass couldn't see past the streets, he was basically a corner boy who has played the game long enough to be on top which is what got him locked up for life. & In the end, he teams up w/ Marlo just to keep being a crab in a bucket & Marlo got away with everything
This is the only scene where i felt Avon was a goofy...at this point he knew stringer killed D and never told his sister because he thought maybe stringer had probable cause but mind you he was calling D weak when he was talking to wee bay in jail because it hurt him so much that D was dead...he was solid but i didnt like him in this scene...he was willing to accept stringer death once brother told him he would be cut off from NY...how you not kill him for him killing D tho but when it came to his empire he said fuck it i cant help him now...and stringer still wind up setting him up as well with the cops....this just shows how real and kniving being in that street life is...shit aint worth it at all

To me, Avon sitting there pretending, and even making up excuses while being aware of bells actions is one of the fakest things a person could do. That could never be me sitting there doing that 😐😑. Just like bell took out D'Angelo for violating,bells actions were in violation as well. Avons stance is surely and definitely questionable.
Brianna has to also take sum responsibility for D’Angelo death as well. She convinced him to take the years. Stringer is so cold after he’s the 1 who had D killed.
I think Avon feels gulty for making him go of the drugs. putting him in detox. then for going over the edge killing all those people on his cell block with the spiked drugs he didnt directly tell him about. he probly thinks he is the reason why he "killed" himself
BRIANNA is so sure her son was murdered because she knows McNulty was hitting her with nothing but facts when they met up. He wasnt trying to work no angles he wasnt trying to get her to snitch.. none of that
Her own statement when she quotes McNulty puts Avon in the clear. *The cop said it was somebody that didn't want you to know Avon. Well that should tell you Avon. didn't do it and wasn't involved
If I recall this was the last time Avon and String stuck together, but it was against Briana this time. She saw right through them when he avon slipped
The funny thing is, it’s later revealed that Wee Bey didn’t even know that D was scared and thought he was gonna be killed. They never even THOUGHT about killing D off (well except Stringer’s snake ass) because he’s family, and they were legit prepping for him to one day be the king. This show really has some great writing man honestly
Brianna knew before Avon slipped because he couldn't look her in her eyes. She got on her knees showing her vulnerability to him she wanted the truth and he gave it to her. Shut cut him off after this.
It’s crazy how much Avon, Breonna and D’Angelo looked like actual family, especially Breonna and D’Angelo. I actually thought she was his real mother when I first saw the show lol
McNulty's understanding of human behaviour enables him to predict how other people will react when he creates a situation like this one. He knew D'Angelo's murder would force Avon to come out of denial, then take action against Stringer. The office scene where McNulty told D'Angelo's mother he knew she did not care about her own son was the pinnacle moment in this drama. String & Avon together were a force of nature, pitted against one other meant the end for both. What a perfect casting choice for the McNulty character, all these characters...
While watching this scene, I can't help but think of two scenes in the first season in which we can understand Avon's true attitude towards Dee. The first scene is when Dee comes with her baby to Avon's house for a party, and Avon, holding Dee's son in his arms, says, "Be careful with my little soldier." Dee's son is just a soldier to Avon, nothing more. And the second scene at the end of season one, when the lawyer asks Avon about Dee "Where are you with your nephew?". Avon gives an absolutely schizophrenic answer:"He family, all right! He not going to buck. A day or two in New Jersey bullpen, he gonna be crying waiting for bail money like the rest of them". Avon was getting everything he needed from Dee under the guise of family. Dee's death was the natural outcome of his "family" relationship with Avon. "We are family! You know its always love!"
Dan Hedaya does such a great job of showing the heartbreak in this character. Like James Gandolfini, they do a great job of showing the vulnerability of hard nosed people.
